NO experience with Scotties but the fox terriers I grew up with and around were all excellent with us kids. They are playful full of energy and real comedians too. See the mole story above, and loyal and very affectionate. But remember every dog is different as was mentioned there are even wussie Pit bulls. actually I have met some really stellar pit bulls too, Really it amounts to how good a parent you are to you dog. Hope this little lovey dog turns out to be a real Gem!

HAppy Birthday Purple days... Hope you had a blast!

Hi Brainfixed. When I first came here i would have said I had no real issues but I have found there were a few and sometimes a post that you would not think will upset you sends you into a tailspin. I have also found that if I don't want to post my thoughts directly to one of the threads I can always Private message one of the participants or one of the other grease spotters. Anyway hang in there and be sure to pick one of the none serious threads as a place to post that has nothing to do with the Way and everything to do with fun or just being silly.

I love the garden section... the only barbs are from the weeds! This is a totally unrelated to plants sort of question when you guys are out working in your garden do you feel really at peace inside even if you are having to pull weeds or dig a hole or raking?

LOL that Vacuum stuff was straight from Corps.. Not my hubby thank the gods. They had those big bulky Vacuums with the cloth bags, I would not buy one ever, I prefer to remove my paper bag by two fingers grimacing and carrying it at arms length to the garbage and then washing my hands thoroughly. LOL. He thought that was ridiculous too! edited to add At that same talk we heard how When the Martindale's first met both sets of parents asked if they had seen each others rooms.. I believe Loy was always a bit OCD and Donna was apparently a slob at heart.

Hmm I worded that badly .. I use both browsers or did until recently at work E and Mozilla/firfox on my XP but I recently did some update and now I have to set one as the default and it will no let me open both browsers at the same time. I prefer using Mozilla but for some of my work apps I have to use explorer. I am sure there is some setting I have to go hunt down and click to use both simultaneously I just haven't found it yet. And it is annoying when I am trying to hurry through something to have to stop and tell it to load stuff (probably still a bad explanation) for the record it has only been in the last couple of weeks and since most people only use one browser they probably don't deal with it.

Ditto for me.. I suppose I should have added the part that if you knew how sweet and gentle and delightful my husband is in person it is a dead ringer of left over way corps behavior when he does these things.. They are so not a part of his own genuine personality that they stand out like a sore thumb. And my first "Lecture "/"teaching I went to as a way corps spouse was some thing by the Matindale's where Donna taught us all the PROPER method to fold sheets which I liked because it was logical and I still use part of it to fold my sheets with a few modifications.. but then Loy got up and ranted for 30 minutes about why every one there should have a perfectly neat sock and underwear drawer and you could not possibly be right in your spiritual walk if you didn't know exactly how many pair of socks and how many pair of under ware you owned and how many were available in your drawer at all times. Shirts and pants Must be hung with air able to circulate, neatly militarily organized etc etc.. and all tied into your spiritual walk. I sat stunned wondering what I had gotten myself into. Then there was the whole vacuum thing... I know all you Corps have heard this... when you use a vacuum you need to wipe it completly down to remove all dust particles and clean the bag out too. (When does any one have time for this stuff) And the worst part about it all is I bought into so much of it too.. I felt hurt that hubby didn't think my house was clean enough.. I felt there was something wrong with me that I couldn't be spiritual enough to make the grade...I was sure I could pull it off if I worked hard enough... well guess what nothing was ever good enough until I finally stopped trying to live up to an impossible TWI standard. If I had been older I would have said you know we are being unrealistic but I was pretty young when we got married and had not found my voice yet.

Web Seminar: Healing Your Spiritual Wounds
leafytwiglet replied to John M Knapp LMSW's topic in About The Way
Brainfixed .. We all kind of had the same knee jerk reaction.. and it wasn't about the money.... that was just a solid fact people could dig into. Really what it boils down to is every one on here who has been in TWI for any amount of time has a tendency to distrust other peoples motives...and when a price is tacked on it sends our little warning sirens blaring.. I do this for any class or seminar even college classes I have to really look them over before I fork over my money. I would venture to guess that most of us did not just jump on GSC and begin commenting right off the bat either but spent a good amount of time perusing the threads and trying to figure out the lay of the land so to speak. Donating to Paw Tuckett was brought up because he foots the bill for GSC... and we all appreciate that and all the time he puts into running the site as for many of us it is the only help for us in our areas It is a donation not a cost to you to be here and we all want to hear your thoughts and feeling just as much as we all want to share ours. Edited because I spell atrociously! -
Well I agree Tazia but Corps training took it about ten steps beyond where neat people live and right into the relm of the OCD Please understand I had a cleaning business for 15 years. I am also a person who likes a clean house. but I had people commenting on how spotless my house was and him saying it was just okay(in that Corps sneer)... so I had to pray about it a lot and find my own place of comfort in it all. He still occasionally does a rant about how it is not spot less.. ( and I reply with if it is not to your standards you know where the cleaning supplies are.) But it took me a long time to get to this place. (BTW he has an office which is far from spotless) My home is clean by most everyone's standards but TWI And I grew up in a messy home so I know when it is beyond where it ought to be.

Rumrunner I happen to love tea roses as they are the red version of Waysiders Rugosa... but some people want a more refined looking Rose I will go take a photo of ours that came from a rose that was moved and the rose didn't make it but the root stock lives on and is quite pretty. Waysider MMMM beautiful and how fortuitous to have it to perfume the night air.
-
I just thought I would point out if those are the roses coming up you may want to rip the new shoots out.. those are coming from the root stock and may or may not be the miniature roses themselves but whatever they grafted them on to... (maybe wait to see what they are and then decide) which could be okay in itself if you like tea roses. but they will be a medium size bush instead of a small one The bougainvillea will be fine.

OMG laughing so hard right now. but seriously anything is possible.

LOL Rascal.... Mine (yes a Corps grad) has picture hanging righteousness... Cracks me up every time... God forbid I should make ANY holes in the wall to hang pictures. I tend to ignore it... coming on to GSC has been for me an exercise in recognizing his leftover learned Corps craziness..... I will say he has never once told me to use less bathroom tissue so for that I will now be eternally thankful... HEhehe but I do get irritated at his expectation that all electronic devices(hairdryers TV's etc) will last for ever if properly cared for. And his belief that no matter how clean and orderly the house is, it is never truly clean. Took me a long time to learn this was some bizzarro Corps training thing that was just not logical and to ignore it too. I heard enough teaching from my short stint as a non corps.. corps spouse to realize they were not logical on lots of things.

I think that is a conservative estimate of what was made and I am pretty sure 10,000 is a conservative estimate of attendies.. at least for the late 70's early 80's I know even out west we had 100's coming from our states. You figure food, and books and tapes and abundant sharing as has been noted YEah I am guessing a pretty penny was made. edited to add.... my first year after WOW coming from Montana there were about 30 from just our area... Great Falls and surrounding area.

I like the little triangle... I know the bathroom has been cleaned recently then. And I can yell FIRST! Three squares are not enough ....EVER!

That is my favorite line from that movie.... and I love when plants regenerate on their own unless it is a weed or some such!

Web Seminar: Healing Your Spiritual Wounds
leafytwiglet replied to John M Knapp LMSW's topic in About The Way
Interesting.. Well I would like to say it couldn't hurt to sit in... Not sure if I will or not yet. Gotta think it over... I am mostly fine with my life and have had few issues from my time in the way but I do tend to be very skeptical of invitations to seminars.. Funny that .. I see now I am not the only one... I suppose this is a side effect of being scammed big time. I used to follow blindly now I argue a lot first and look around to see if it really is something I should or shouldn't do. -
IT sucks I now have to choose either Explorer or Mozilla as my default and if I want to use the other then I have to disable one to use the other SO I made a compramize Explorer at work becasue some work related programs I use only work with explorer and my favoirte Mozilla at home where I need it the most

accidentally ? have a LAN set up on my kid's computer
leafytwiglet replied to excathedra's topic in Computer Questions
My computer rules of thumb... the more I know about the buggers teh more I realize how little I know... and the best way to fix most computer problems is to do a system restore or my other favorite trick turn the computer all teh way off unplug it from the wall re plug it in after a few minutes and fire that puppy up.. you would be amazed at how many times this little act repairs what ever was wrong...Most important step unplugging from the wall. No I have no idea why... I just know if you already tried a reboot and that didn't work sometimes the interuption (totally ) of electricity does the trick. Most computers draw minute amounts of electricity even when turned off. Also an ocasional kick is good for your soul... Okay don't kick it too hard. ;) -
Congrats on a successful party... and hugs and well heck... new babies are always exciting.
