my comment i'm referring to might be on the other nice thread regarding christmas in any case, mj, do you have a problem, are you ANGRY ? why can't your family's thing be fantastic but it doesn't have to be everyone else's thing ? not that you said that, but you come off kinda strong ?

the only reason i'm quoting this part is i think i said something about sparkly stuff and how poor people feelmj, your life and all it means to you is valid and deep and wonderful but sometimes you come across as antagonistic if you feel strongly about something, that's cool, but why do you have to sound like other people's hearts or experiences aren't as valid as yours ?

i am deeply sorry for your loss dear vickles and especially for your mom i never have the words to express my deepest sympathy ** hey as long as your teens have you as a mom, i think they are going to be AOK love you ?

i also know people who don't get together at the holidays because it's just so hurtful for the person missing who has passed away. it's just too tough for them everyone has to decide what is right for them and as far as giving to others outside our family at thanksgiving and christmas, how wonderful, because those people realize most of all (with all the sparkly stuff around them) how much they don't have love, love, love ?

my point is not to make a point of how unimportant hand-me-down coats and gloves, etc., are (because they are sooooo important) my point is when my child GIVES i want him to really put himself in the other little guy's (girl's) shoes and not just dump his stuff that he doesn't like but belive me, we have given away a lot of toys that he no longer cares for, because we know there are many little ones that love power rangers, etc. :)--> my heart.... always for giving and believe me, i'm still on the receiving end.... this is such a wonderful topic, thanks ?

i like when we talk about this kind of stuff i grew up very poor (sorry for repeating myself from last year) when i was a kid, many of our gift baskets from fortunate people contained things that were really not special. even poor kids can tell the difference between a gift and a hand-me-down so now i always always tell my son (he is very fortunate) to give kids what HE wants, not what he wants to get rid of it's been nice, he gets it ?

yesholidays are tough for many families (reasons) and joyous for many people (reasons) no one knows unless you've lived in "their" shoes vickles, such a lovely loving heart behind your thread / post ?
