Ha, Ha! Just got home and read some of these. Very funny! Keep it going, please. If you put your mind to it you, too, can pretend to be Jeff Foxworthy for a few minutes. Hmmm let see... ok this one is for Mike. If you have studied a "lost teaching" for over five years .........you just might be in a cult.

If you refer to your family and relatives as "earthly" ............ you might be in a cult.

Tom - I only use wireless occasionally for a laptop I have when I need it. Otherwise I have jacks in every room with whole house hard wiring. I have both capabilities on my SMC Router as many of them do today. With my limited wireless experiences, all the things that have just been said are good. I mostly do what Paw suggests and do not bother with the mac address cloning or WEP. I change the password occasionally and also the ssid. I have heard and read that WEP slows down the connectivity. One thing I am certain of in my situation is that wired is much faster than wireless. But wireless is cool at times when I just want to open my laptop real quick from the couch or the kitchen countertop or outside. But I plug in to the network for serious computing. Wireless has come a long way. My visionary neighbor who works deep in the heart of IBM in Research says the future will contain very fast wireless all over the place. He says stay tuned for some big stuff coming in years ahead. I wish I had his job. Sounds like fun.

Tommy - that's good news. I assume it is a Pentium 4. I would be surprised if it is not. Therefore your onboard sound should be fine for purposes of testing your dvd's maybe you do not have your sound properties configured correctly. Go to Control Panel and go into Sounds and Audio devices. Look for advanced features or just restore defaults. Make sure your speaker settings are 2.1 or 5.1 or whatever you are using. Soundblaster cards are good, of course. But beware of their software that comes with it. They want to have you install all kinds of junk that they would prefer you use. Creative this and Creative that. One of their "techniquues" is to cause things to start up when your computer starts up. Suddenly you have two new things in your task bar at startup. You have to fight it on every hand. These damn vendors have a lot of nerve in my opinion. If at all possible, try to just install the drivers only for your card and maybe the EAX console and possibly the Creative Volume control which I like. Elect NOT to install their player and other unnecessary things that are not needed to obtain the sound from your card. Anyway, I and guessing the problem is in the Interactual player. Try to uninstall that in favor of a better one. Oh - and if you want to forget all this entire matter, just go out and buy a portable DVD player you can use by your desk and other places and uninstall the one on your comp. Ha!

That being said, some onboard sound chips seem to work ok. But you need to answer more, such as Goey's proc and chip questions. Is this XP or some other OS? Pentium 4 or 3? I am certainly no expert in this but personally, I would not consider playing DVD's on anything less than a Pentium 4 or equivalent with XP as the OS. Get one of the two best, WinDVD or PowerDVD, as mentioned by Zix. I am not so sure Interactual is very good. Maybe you could try using Windows Media Player and see if the problem persists there. But download the latest version on Windows Updates.

Ha, Tom! You have must have a gift ministry of "repetitio" for bringing our minds back (waaaaay back) to 'da verd of gawd'. Shadowing, ha! God...I shadowed our then Trunk leader, Vince, one day. I sat in front of his desk, took detailed notes on everything, etc. How weird and stupid was I, as well as Vince, for allowing that? Did I really do that or was I in a dream-like state? (Actually, I think I just wanted to get out of work that day.)

:D--> So Funny, you guys. You were NEVER boring, and I thank you for that. :D--> Work was terribly boring sometimes. Especially when we would vacuum clean rugs everyday or dust clean surfaces or wash clean windows to fill in our time. Hmmm. Hundreds of workers to maintain 40 acres.

What program are you using to watch the DVD with? Make sure it is updated as well. WHat kind of Sound card (model and version)? Soundblaster cards need updated drivers once in a while as well. Any problem with other music files such as MP3's? Does the movie play ok on a regular DVD player or on another computer DVD player? By process of elimination try to isolate the problem, keeping in mind that it could also be a faulty DVD player. Maybe you could try installing a new one to see if it fixes the problem. If the problem persists, you could see if you could return the new one. They are pretty cheap these days. I'm glad we don't have to do all this troubleshooting on our home stereo equipment. I can't remember the last time I had to reboot my Yamaha receiver and DVD Player or protect it agains viruses. Ha! This is a good illustration as to why dedicated Home Theater PC's are "not ready for prime time" yet. Too complex for the everyday user. That being said I think they are awesome for some things like playing MP3's and are suitable for smaller environments, college dorms, smaller apartments, etc. I like mine, but it is more of a novelty than functional.

Was your nametag really indicative of your faithfulness to God?

Old one: Newer one from 24 years later: Lots of holes in shirts (and mind) in between...... -
Was your nametag really indicative of your faithfulness to God?

Hills, I have a whole box full of nametags ranging from WOW (those funny round ones) to Way Corps, to Way of Abundance and Power Advanced Class. I would never get rid of them because they remind me of all the great people I met through the years and all the fun times I had. the more nametags you possessed in TWI...the higher up the Way tree caste system you got ..the greater your commitment was to VP rather than to God. That is your opinion but is is absolutely not true concerning me and a few others I knew. However, I think I know what you are trying to say. My statement would be: "the more nametags you possessed in TWI...the more holes you had in your clothing." :D--> :D--> -
I worked countless hours on the Corps Chalet on the plumbing in 1978 in Way Builders. VPW told all of us that we would be entitled to its use when we were traveling through the area. I feel as if we were simply lied to. If Donna still lives there, I think it is outrageous. She should have been made to go out on the field with her family. Instead I heard she got to stay there in the "Presidents Home" in all its luxury. It seems like all those places would be constant reminders to her of her husbands rampant adultery. There must be more to it as to why she would be allowed to stay and why she would even want to stay. Sorry if these pictures are too big.

Try running Ad Aware in Safe Mode. Just restart and press F8 a few times when you are just starting up to get to safe mode. Once you have booted up into safe mode, then run Ad Aware. Maybe do a virus scan too while in safe mode.
