  1. My condolences too, to both of you. Life isn't fair at times. I am sorry to hear about Joyce Carr too. Damn! I think you will be Ok in Ft. Pierce. Is Florida accursed along with California because so maaaany CORPS wanted to come here instead of going to the uttermost parts of the earth? :D-->
  2. Theme song of Titanic movie...running thru my head. Sinking.... drowning in the Gulf of Mexico.... glub, glub... will the return be my next assignment!?
  3. Hurricane headed our way. Help me. John R. Tampa Bay Florida
  4. Silence speaks loudly...... :D--> My better half was taking the picture, only sober one in group probably. I think I was caught away into another dimension that night, 21 years ago! As I recall, we had just solved all the problems of TWI whilst sitting around that coffee table partying, each of us with a revelation from GAWD. TWI should have listened to us. I liked S & W's pool and those nearby stores across the street for beer replenishment. Instead of a Las vegas reunion, I say we go back to our roots and have one there at the S & M. We can visit Lock 2 and maaaaaany other historical places in the area including Wints.
  5. "Like blinded believers" Ha :D--> Mr. Strange I must tell our German friend Claus about that one. Maybe I'll witness to him and get him on this thread. I was just at Lock Two a couple weeks ago! Seriously. I visited the Adams and Dana Ranyak (Rutshcilling). They and others such as Eddie G. have settled in that area for many years. They have been caught away into that peaceful village. I didn't smell any chicken dung but it kinda reminded me of Green Acres. (Ex, I think I saw that neighborhood where we went in search of a bunch of English believers and crashed their party one night) And yes, prophet Tuttle, I have stayed one year at Botkins Best Western. It was horrible. Not like the beloved S & W Hotel in St. Mary's. Did I go trough Kettlersville on my way to Lock Two? Dana was driving, she knows all those areas.
  6. John - a Google search is one of the best sources for tech support these days. I found this: _________________________________ Mozilla is cleaner and quite a bit faster than Internet Explorer. Other major advantages are tabbed browsing (window-in-window), excellent security, and superb popup blocking. It also remembers passwords [note] for you. On top of that, Mozilla comes with an email client included. And the client has a good spam filter as well. It's a "Bayesian" spam filter, which means it's accurate and powerful, yet easy to use. Mozilla Firefox (was Firebird) is the advanced development version of Mozilla. It is now "stable" enough (meaning no serious bugs remain) to use as your primary browser. It simply doesn't crash. Firefox is my default browser -- the one I use everyday. Making it the default keeps Internet Explorer from opening an email link or anything else without warning. _________________________________________ So you might want to switch from Outlook Express (which is no longer being updated or supported by Microsoft....they want you to use Outlook) to Mozillas email program. Personally I like Outlook 2003. It is getting good reviews. Older versions of Outlook sucked. I am too lazy to try a new browser. I go along with the 95% IE crowd. But there are good reasons to switch as you did.
  7. Tonto, they have given me maaany laughs also. I fear they have "lost it". But that's a good thing. Here's a toast to those who post the most. ExCatholic, here is a true stooory about closets. My new fruit went with us to ROA one year and liked the HOHHP, "house of his healing presidents" out there in the woods / graveyard. When Josh got back home here in Tampa at our Way Home he got the bright idea to make a "closet of his healing presence" upstairs, unbeknownst to me, complete with maaaaany candles. Damn fool fell asleep and almost burned our house down! I found him in there just as the carpet was about to catch fire!!!! Funny, scary and true. We might have all become burnt offerings but God had mercy. :D--> :D--> :D--> :D-->
  8. As we have been taught in a past life, a "two post limit" is wise. But don't cheat and have two huge posts. Internet addiction test Quote: "How do you know if you're already addicted or rapidly tumbling toward trouble?" "For example, if you answered 4 (often) to Question #2 regarding your neglect of household chores, were you aware of just how often your dirty laundry piles up or how empty the refrigerator gets?" Your sponsor can help by doing a surprise inspection of your house. (Our Corps branch leader used to actually do this in The Way.) :D--> :D--> :D-->
  9. I'll bet some of your posting problems are hereditary. This kind of thing can run in a family. Are you sure you father didn't own an IBM PC XT and post on BBS's? Do you remember hearing a lot of modem tones when you were a child? Did your grandfather by any chance spend countless hours on short wave radio? Hmmmmm. This is so sad. Excathedra, please become president of MADP. Mothers against drunk posting.
  10. Hi, excathedra, Glad to have you here tonight. You are among friends. We'll help you with your addiction.
  11. Sorry madam. I am a glass half full kind of guy. Really, they were cool. I didn't even know them but the son is one of the many CFF Chrisitan youth in the area who get together there in Ohio for camps, outreach of the Word, music and teachings, etc. They had a campfire where some of them shared and they were awesome....the future generation. Us "older people" sat in the back and just listened. Ha!
  12. Doubtful it causes computers to crash. People tend to blame when they have a PC problem. Just like I do. Ha! Most of the time it is something I did. I hope Microsoft is prepared to be blamed again for a lot of probs that may happen after SP 2. I would rather blame the government. But mostly SP2 appears to be agood thing, especially for those who take no security precautions at all behind their broadband connections.
  13. It was great seeing his son and ex-wife in Ohio this year. They are absolutely wonderful people.
  14. Hmmm, not sure I have too many recent ones of you 9th Cops. But here is a recent one of Tom Tuttle. Try to look at the Christ in him.
  15. It has been said that CG also carried a loaded gun at these meetings. I for one believe that is true. Others know more.
  16. I gotta get that, Thanks Zixar. It used to be a lot more. So many toys.... so little time. John R.
  17. Thanks for these tips! Power Point sounds interesting. I have the latest version already. My daughter is beginning to use it for shcool stuff. It looks easy to master and I am sure there is an abundance of support for it out there. But Chas, will the burned slideshow play on someone else's computer who does not own Power Point and does not care to install a Power Point Viewer? And Zixar I am definitely getting Pinnacle someday anyway beause I have read such good things about it and its DVD capabilites. Same question to you....does the recipient of the photo slide show need anything special? BOWTWI, thanks but I am probably going with PP or Pinnacle, probably both.
  18. I read this long ago when it was being circulated. They had no room to accuse the BOT because they were far from perfect themselves. Amazing how some of these top honchos were so easily persuaded one way or the other, depending on who ever had the best spin or the most power at the time. They just believed Scary Geery the master manipulator. Notice the phrase repeated frequently: "We have been told...." (that you guys suck), "We have been told" ..... (that you BOT are off the word and have turned away from the true God), "We have been told".... (that you have not changed, dammit.) And your humble pie attitude backfired on you. IMHO, and in the opinion at the time of lots of everyday rank and file Corps, we thought they were ALL nuts as they bickered and power struggled using the bible as their weapon of mass destruction. Want to see some examples? Read carefully the clergy meetings notes. They remind me of the rantings of a paranoid lunatic. That is a man who needed therapy and probably still does in my opinion. And please note how he defends his firing of John S. who wrote an awesome paper on Adultery from a biblical perspective. Note we were not supposed to have even read it or owned a copy. Why? Some of us know why. It appears CG knew not to open that can of worms or it might make his idol look stained and tarnished. Thinking back on it, none had any worldly experience running any kind of organization or corporation. Only their fantasy ministry bubble all those years. Frankly, I am glad it happened and I firmly believe that God himself had something to do with it. Thank God that bad trip ended.
  19. Excuse me for interrupting. Who is this? Is it David??? from the 9th? What is thy name! Reveal thyself! I know it is from 1979 at Emporia.
  20. I have lots of digital and scanned pictures in jpg format. I want to begin creating slideshows with different music background and special effects for friends and family on CD. Does anyone have any software suggestions? What do you use? Thanks JR
  21. Well, My Three, you have a peer to peer network. Therefore you must set it up in some way that meets the needs of your network. If you want complete and open access to all files on all machines then just make each person an administrator. But I do not recommend that. I also do not recommend using XP without a password when you are networked. There is a lot to learn about networking. Home networkers are finding this out the hard way I am sure. But when a network is set up correctly it is a pleasure to use and very secure. There is much on the Internet about this. Here is a statement for a recent article I was reading. "By default, Windows XP will not permit a network user to access the XP machine using an account set up without a password." So you see, this can get complicated without following the basics of networking which are not learned so easily. Of course XP Pro is recommended for networking. XP Home is designed for non networkers.
  22. Server 2003 convert to a workstation Awesome article! You may not want to do all the things this guy does and like I have, but at least you will know how. Oh, and Themes are disabled by default. I turned mine back on. I thinks the XP Pro standard theme looks way better than 98. The XP Pro Start menu is way better than 98 too if you turn on (and off) all its juicy features.
  23. I'm running Win 2003 Server on a small peer to peer network without DNS. It work fine. Biggest prob with Win 2003 for me was undoing things they turn off to make it more "efficient" I have an excellent article that deals with this. It seems very solid because I am also using the "server" as a desktop machine. With 1GB Corsair ram it is fast and stable. And I am running all kinds of stuff on it including watching TV! People connecting to the server report good speed. If people like win98 still they are just missing out badly. Toss 98 fast. In my opinion it's been dead since about 2001.
  24. USB 2 vs Firewire. To me there is not much of a difference in real life transfers. Both are good. Check out this guy's conclusion: FIrewire and USB 2 USB 2 seems to be outselling Firewire in popularity at least. But on the horizon is Firewire 800 which I think will change everything! Check out this article: Firewire 800 I hate having to reinstall, yet I am faced with having to do so soon myself. Always something! Good luck.
  25. Should be able to get into safe mode.
