Groucho, I agree with your original point. It's why I usually stay away from the politics threads or maybe post one or two thoughts then leave when I can tell it's not worth it.

Since we're getting closer I thought I'd bring this back to the top and see if anyone wants to add to it. My sister loves to watch "A Muppet Christmas Carol" every year. Her favorite quote is "Light the lamp, not the rat !"
-
Sorry I missed it. Hope you had a great day !

You can't forget "A Charlie Brown Christmas." Last Christmas I sat down with my son who was home from college and my daughter (who was a junior in high school) and watched a bunch of Christmas specials together that I had taped off of TV when they were very young. It was like they were my little kids again. They even got a kick out of watching the TV commercials from the early 90's. My daughter loved those 7 Up commercials with the red dots that would jump off the soda bottles.

We should send Ross down to Gitmo to work with the POW's there. That would be interesting.
-
Chas, "So You're A Star" is on Rhino's "Have A Nice Day, Vol 14". If you haven't gotten it yet let me know and I'll e-mail you an MP3 of it.

Sorry I missed it. Hope you had a great day. I heard them talking about "Squirrel awareness week" on the radio yesterday so I should have known something was up.
-
Happy Birthday, Hope you're having a great day!

Johniam, my son goes to college in Webster Groves. He's getting his first car this week. You'll have to let me know what's out that way 'cause I'm sure my son would love to take some road trips out to the country.

One year we planted corn in our garden back in New York and the varmints would steal the ears of corn off the stalk. That was the only time I wished I had a shotgun ! Our cat is an indoor cat so watching squirrels run on our back deck is his entertainment.

I hope your day was as wonderful as you. A little late, but still heartfelt.

Hope you're having a great day today! Happy Birthday!

I hope any Grease Spots attending come over and say "hi"!

Saturday night's coming up, so if you're in the area.
-
"Cotton Eyed Joe" by the Rednex will definitely be on her CD !
-
My 17 year old daughter is compiling a CD of dance music for when the band is not playing and I'm sure there will be some techno in there.
-
If you're in the Chicago area, check out my "Playing A Dance" thread in the general section.
-
We're not playing any bluegrass but my daughter would love for us to play the techno version of "cotton eyed Joe."
-
Jim, That's a mandolin in the foreground. You have 2 of each of the strings. I don't remember the tuning but it's the same as a violin. I have a "how to play the mandolin book" ( have a mandolin I haven't played in years ) so I'll have to look it up.
-
Hopefully we'll be recording so I'll have to e-mail you some mp3's from the night.

I'm playing at a dance on Sept. 29 and if you're in the Chicago area that night you're invited. It will be at Grace Christian Fellowship in Naperville at 7:00 and will probably run 'till around 10. The address is 1701 Quincy Ave., Suite 17. Quincy is off of Ogden just after it intersects with Raymond. All Greasespots are welcome ! I'm the bass player in the band so be sure to come up and say "hi!' This is a night of fun and music so if you can make it I'd love to see you there !

Didn't we have a political thread on this subject right after 9/11 or shortly thereafter ? I seem to remember posting in that one.

May your days be filled with pickin' and grinnin' !
