  1. I just picked up the DVD's "The Dirty Dozen" and "The Magnificent Seven" and plan to watch them with some of the men from my church. I'm curious as to what you all would consider other great "Guy Movies".
  2. If you use Rush Limbaugh's "environmentalist wacko" system you'll have to go with the seahawks. Hawks are noble birds, a part of nature. Steelers are from the steel industry, which polutes the environment. Nature should triumph over polluting capitalists.
  3. I can't help but wonder if abortion is an issue whose time has come and gone. All the old feminists who consider it their blessed sacrament have gone through menopause and I would think that most younger women would be a whole lot more careful because of the risk of aids. Safe sex should prevent unwanted pregnancies.
  4. I'm wondering if anyone else remembers that meeting. Dr. Wierwille taught there. I lived in Levittown NY and got a call from a friend asking me if I wanted to go out for the evening. The next thing I know we're going over the Verazano Narrows bridge into New Jersey. We ended up at this big meeting. After the meeting I kept bumping into this cute brunette and this June will be our 29th wedding anniversary so I got something good out of going there.
  5. I feel old. My teenage daughter is the one going to a party and I'm staying home.
  6. I'd recommend checking out the old "Dracula", "Frankenstein" and "Wolf Man" movies. If they have them order "The Legacy Collection" of these three. Then you could watch the whole "Frankenstein" series ( 7 movies ) in order. If you've never seen it you've got to top the whole thing off with "Abbot and Costello Meet Frankenstein."
  7. Here's one that my teenage son and I fight about. Do you feel there is a noticable difference in the sound quality of an MP3 compared to a WAV file ? I feel that I can hear the difference but my son says "No Way !" I should add that I'm a musician and he runs the sound board at the school theatre. ( and has a low opinion of musicians and actors ) Has anyone else found that they can hear the difference ?
  8. My wife and son got together and got me an external hard drive ( 250 gig ) which is nice because no matter how big the drive I always manage to fill it up, mostly with music files. My daughter got me the Johnny Cash "legend" CD ( both son and daughter want to borrow it to check it out ! ) and my parents sent me a check which I used to buy the "Monterey Pop" DVD set. That's always been my favorite concert movie and it's great to own it on DVD. This year and last we spent Christmas Day visiting my sister and her husband ( most of the family is still back in New York ). I'm blessed because for me Christmas Day was always anti-climatic. I work ( at least 'till they shut down at the end of Feb. ) in the warehouse of a Japanese camera company and in our business we handle the "Christmas Rush" from Sept. on. So there's this big build up to Christmas. But after the presents are opened on Christmas morning it's the old "is that there all that is ?" feeling. My sister and I had been getting together on Christmas Eve but now we're getting together Christmas Day which makes the day feel more festive. This Christmas was a particular blessing because my brother-in-law had been fighting cancer and in June they gave him six months or less. But this month the tumors started shrinking and disappearing and we know it was definitely answered prayer so this is definitely one of the best Christmas's ever.

    ILLINOIS

Lorna Doone, I haven't spoken to them since the end of '85 when I moved from Buffalo Grove down to Hanover Park but I just looked at the online white pages and the listing is the same as it was in '85 except the new area code is 847.
  10. I think a lot of us go through times when we post a lot and when we just check in occasionally.
  11. The sad thing is I think I've seen a few of those on "America's Funniest Home Videos".
  12. Finished listening to the Albert Hall Cd. The band sounds good but it ruins it for me that Jack Bruce's bass was way too low. I hope that they put out a remixed version where you can hear all three musicians. It could have been a great CD but right now it's a disappointment to me.

    Favorite Quotes

Neil Innes started a Bob Dylan parody by saying "I've suffered for my art and now it's your turn."
  14. Phelps brings to mind the verse " the Word of God is blasphemed because of you."
  15. Sudo, Sorry I haven't been here lately. I also use Limewire. I've heard you have to keep your library under 100 files to be safe.
  16. I still do some file sharing. My attitude is "If you sell it I will buy" but a lot of great stuff is still not available in the states. I'm still trying to find the CD by the group Stardrive which was out for about two weeks in Japan. I've worn out my vinyl copy and I doubt I'll ever see it reissued.
  17. Dizzy, I like your definition of "standing together". That's why I've stuck with the offshoot I'm in. We've known each other since TWI ( left in the '89 exodus ) and we've stuck with each other through good times and bad. What you've described is "the family of God" in action.
  18. One of the problems I had was that I would feel that whenever I complained about something my wife felt it was her duty to show me how it was my fault. Eventually I stopped talking to her and did all my talking to another woman in our church. If God hadn't intervened I doubt we'd still be married. We may be neanderthals but there are times when men have the need to be understood as well.
  19. Go to the Cortright fellowship link. They have a page called "Music By Believers" and you can get the Goodseed CD's.

So what do we replace the Jefferson one with ?
  21. Hey everybody, go read the book. It was really enjoyable.
  22. I thought Romero's "Dawn Of The Dead" was better than "Night" but I didn't like "Day Of The Dead."
  23. My wife and I took the Advanced Class in Rome City in July of '86 ( I even got to sing at the sunday night service of the class ) and we thought it was a beautiful place. I kept a journal while I was taking the class and one of these days I should retype it with comments from today's point of view.
  24. Belle, Could you e-mail me the next time you find a site like that again ? I had some friends who wanted to see it but now it's too late.
