My son starts college at Webster Groves this fall. Anyone there ?
-
"Pawtucket-based Hasbro" ?
-
Finally watched "Joan". Quite an impressive piece of work.
-
Kev and Dan, I took your advice and checked the DVD of "Joan" out from the library today. I'll give you my review after I watch it.

That must be an old book ! Ever since the 80's I've heard that textbooks were revised to show how rotten the founding fathers were and what an evil country Amerika is. But I'll still check it out for the Reconstruction stuff.

Left in May or June of '89. Craig issued his loyalty ultimatum and most of Illinois left en masse.
-
I'd like a book that gives an honest look at what happened. The movie gave the old south's point of view, and I'm sure there's truth in there. I'm sure there are also a bunch of PC Revisionist books out there, which I'd have no use for. I'd just like a book that tells the whole story, good bad and ugly. It would be interesting to find some books that were from that time period.

While I'm enjoying talking about silent movies, I'll still looking for a good book suggestion from any of our historians.
-
I do enjoy some good silents. My favorites would be "Nosferatu" and "Metropolis." "Birth" was apparently the first "epic" film and transformed movies from a novelty to a serious art form.

I just saw DW Griffith's 1915 movie "Birth Of A Nation" and while one is suspicious of a movie where the heroes are the KKK I wonder how accurate the movie is historically ? I know that Griffith was the son of a confederate soldier so his bias is understandable. Can anyone recommend a good book about this period that gives the facts about this period ?

Am I the only one reminded of the book "Animal Farm"? People who remember the old days are a threat to the current leadership.
-
I still remember a "Peanuts" cartoon where Charlie Brown said Dylan turning 30 was "the saddest thing he had ever heard." That seems like yesterday.
-
Gee, and I thought Way productions going country in the 80's was bad !
-
I know what you mean. My son hit 18 in January and goes off to college in the fall. I remember showing newborn pictures to my co-workers. Where does the time go ?
-
Could I put in a request for a copy too ?
-
I guess I'll have to go to the e-mail version. I got involved with them in '89 when I started exchanging letters with John L. right before our whole group left TWI. I sent them some money in the 90's and ordered some tapes sets. The last couple of years I'd read the Contender then the Sower when they came but it was more like keeping up with old friends. Best of luck to them.

I click on the "My Computer" icon. Then I click on the icon for the second drive "Drive F". I select the file I'm transferring. Then I go over to the tasks menu on the left side. I click on "move". Then I will send the file either to my "C" drive or I will send it to "Drive H" which is an exterior drive connected to a USB port. At first it seemed like the problem only happened when I sent files to the "H" drive but this week it showed up when I moved a file to the "C" drive. Sometimes I've fixed the problem by defragging the "F" drive but that doesn't always work.
-
I'll move the file to the main hard drive. It shows up on the directory for the main drive. Pushing F5 didn't change the amount of free space shown. What should I try next ?
-
I'm having a problem with my secondary hard drive. When I transfer files off the drive it doesn't change the available space shown on the drive. For example, I'll have 8 gig available. I transfer 4 more gig off the drive but on the "my computer" program it still only shows 8 gig free. How do I correct this ?

Maybe Geer wrote that article before there were firewalls to keep out the demons !
-
I sent you an e-mail. Greg's ministry is called Word Of Truth Fellowship. It's in downstate Illinois.
-
Try looking at SONG LYRICS.COM. I saw "Wild Irish Rose" there. They might have the others you were looking for.
-
I know they run a ministry in southern Illinois. I'll have to ask around for contact info.
-
"True Lies" is definitely up there. A friend suggested "The Great Escape." I'm looking for macho, not trashy, so no "Porky" movies.

Shaz, The women have their things. I just thought this would be a fun thing for the guys to do, nothing formal.
