Well, we have to do something to keep our young people awake. ;)-->
-
And as I was coming to the top of the hill (you have to just see it, I was just coming to the top,) and there was the sign . . . "Millions Now Smoking" . . . and you wonder what to say to your young people.

Thanks, guys! Well, you may keep going and going, fellowcharger, but you're way cuter than that little pink guy with the bass drum and the long ears.

I got a promotion at work. God be praised, and thanks be to Him. :)--> :)--> :)--> :)--> :)--> :)--> :)--> :)--> :)--> :)--> :)--> :)--> :)--> :)--> :)--> :)--> :)--> :)--> :)--> :)--> :)--> :)--> :)--> :)--> :)--> :)-->

My sister sent me this today. In the interests of our lifelong struggle to achieve inner peace, I thought that I would pass it on to you, my sistren and brethern. In best tradition of the Mental Marguerita, I say unto you, "Ohm." love, niKa ************************************************ This is GREAT advice - we should take it!! I am passing this on to you because it has definitely worked for me...in today's hectic world we all could use a little calm. By following the simple advice I read in an article, I have finally found inner peace. The article read: "The way to achieve inner peace is to finish all the things you've started." So I looked around the house to see all the things I started and hadn't finished....and before leaving the house this morning I finished a bottle of red wine, a bottle of white wine, the Bailey's, Kahlua and Wild Turkey, the Prozac, some Valium, some cheesecake and a box of chocolates. You have no idea how good I feel....You may pass this on to those you feel are in need of Inner Peace... ***********************************************

Happy Tuesday Night to You-ho-hoooo. Made you look. :D-->

Tommy, I just noticed your new "Thinks Gore won the election" designation. I think Gore won the election, too! Go figure. When I see the headlines today, I don't feel particularly warm or fuzzy toward the electoral college. Just think; when Bush began running for President, I was a Republican. Funny, how one person can change your point of view. Sorry, folks! Don't mean to derail the whole Saturday-morning congeniality of the thread. Just complimenting Tom on his designation. As you were; the smoking lamp is lit. (But watch out for embarrassed-looking people who step out of elevators, just as you're getting in.)

Yup, t-ball practise got rained out. I don't know whether or not we got any hail; didn't hear any before we went to bed. Did you put it in your freezer, Tommy? Happy Saturday morning, everyone!

Emporia Powerbar Recipe?
notinKansasanymore replied to notinKansasanymore's topic in Health, Wellness, and Fitness
Thank you , thank you! Last night, I made my own version: 2 cups raisins, ground in food processor 1 cup peanut butter 1/2 cup milk powder 1/4 cup honey 3/4 cup coconut I mixed it all together, pressed it into a pan, and the kids are still begging for more of it! Now I have something new for quick energy for the t-ball crowd; thank you very, very much! niKa -
Emporia Powerbar Recipe?

Whoa. Getting this recipe took a total of twenty minutes. I love the internet. Thank you very much, Cowgirl!! -
Does anyone remember how to make those incredible powerbar / healthfood bar things that we used to get in our Sunday sack suppers at Emporia? They were bricks. I loved them. It'd be great to be able to make up a batch for the next family camping extravaganza. HHHHhhhhhhmmmmmmmm????

Gorp was great. And I'm looking for the recipe for those homemade healthbars that they used to give us. I'm going to ask for it on the main forum; maybe some former kitchen worker remembers. (I'm a former Emporia kitchen worker, but I mostly just remember the undersides of potato peels, as they flaked away under my speedy paring knife.)

Well, at least I LIKE school! I learn so much from the kids! Right now, for instance, I have one who describes himself as "a 7-year-old trapped in the body of a 19-year-old." His t-shirts, sheets, book covers, and favorite show are all Sponge Bob. He's one of 7 children in his family, and about the most precious, sweetest-hearted person you'd ever want to meet. Of course, nobody teases him about wearing his Sponge Bob shirts, because he's a huge football player. Funny, how life works, sometimes. I have another student who has missed a couple of classes because the love of her life got activated to Iraq, and he had a few days of leave before he left. She knows that he may simply come home with interesting stories to tell, or that she may never see him again. She's really taking everything in stride, and doing quite well with it all. I could tell you stories about how cool, and strong-hearted, and dedicated these kids are, all day. I love being around them. It's a great gig. :)-->

Up late, grading essays, ah-GAIN. One more week of classes, and then finals. Then, the Happy Dance. I do, however, love my job! It's just really, really fun to have summers off. Going to bed now. I feel a need for slow speed. Not perpendicular. Horizontal. That's the ticket.
-
Well, I really meant it. I hope that all is well with you. Pull up a chair, and join the fun!

Hi, John! I hope that all is well with you. :)-->

Happy Birthday, Fellowshipper! Hope your weekend is perpendicular! Come and see us again soon, okay? Love to all here, niKa

No worries so far! (knock on wood) This morning, we had the '89er Day Parade; my little one rode on her nursery school float. Lots of hometown folks, with probably as many in the parade as were watching. Great fun. Yesterday was the 115th anniversary of the Oklahoma Land Run, when this particular town was settled in one day. Literally went from being a prairie in the morning, to being a town by evening. If you saw the movie "Far and Away," they had a pretty good representation of the event, in my opinion. Anyway, we had a parade, and the kids threw candy, and people brought their grandmas out in wheelchairs to watch, and it was cool. Extremely parallel. ;)-->

Triangular . . . tetrahedonal . . . Wait, I'll get it . . ..

Dot, thank you very, very much! I just picked up a box of Revolution from the vet today; it was $20 more than this website charges. With 5 cats, this will save us plenty over the entire flea season. I appreciate your sharing this.

It's the love, Tommy; you just have to look at the love. It's not like anybody's saying, "I have a jack, but I'm not going to help you." Petros, Petra, what's one little comma? You have to have your needs and your wants perpendicular. Uh, rectangular . . . Well, my my. I must have left my notes in my other suit.

Do not make us go out! But, if we must go out, how's about sending us into that herd of donut shops over there? Maybe a Starbuck's?

Or kick me with your foot. If the guy did call for a light, and end up with dumanis energamata (ohlord, that was funny!) then you'd likely end up with some soot. Now, if you did all of the things mentioned in this thread, and if you did them while wearing a certain fashionable mens' garment from the early part of the last century, and exited the elevator immediately afterward (with or without warning the people just about to get on; that part would be up to you), what you might end up with would be a . . . Rooted, zoot-suited, boot-footed, cute, mute, chute hoot poot scoot. :D--> As you were. But the smoking lamp is not lit; that would be way too dangerous in here. -->
