It looks like Caiaphas may have been a poophet, along with being a high priest of Israel. Jesus knew about himself being the sacrifice for all of mankind. Even poophets can sometimes be part of this goal. God may have placed some words in his head. Perhaps it was through Caiaphas' bad side, but nevertheless what he spoke turned out to be true, the death and sacrifice of Jesus Christ for the sins of mankind. Also according to Matthew 26:3-4, Caiaphas plotted the arrest of Jesus. 3 Then the chief priests and the elders of the people assembled in the palace of the high priest, whose name was Caiaphas, 4 and they schemed to arrest Jesus secretly and kill him. NIV Also Caiaphas according to Matthew 26:57-68 was a participant in the illegal trial of Jesus. And sometimes even a donkey can speak at least according to Numbers 22:28-30. So it is not surprising that even a poophet can sometimes give words of prophecy. It is O.K. to giggle now. The simplicity of age is that it can ONLY refer to eternal as it is related to God. Otherwise, with age referring to ANYTHING else it will have a time limit. Both a beginning and an ending. As an example of this our natural bodies have a time limit for every human. And our natural bodies do decay. Without God the creator, mankind would not even be able to begin an age or time period of any kind. It is only as mankind is associated with God through his son Jesus Christ that mankind can receive a new spiritual eternal body. This should be obvious to every Christian or follower of Jesus Christ that our natural bodies have a time limit with a beginning and an ending. This is the main part of the word "Age". To have eternal life we need a new spiritual body and the apostle Paul makes this clear in his written work found in 1 Corinthians chapter 15. If there is eternal anything, for example the very negative pagan concept of eternal torment, this would have to be through the power of God only. I am glad that we see that God is not the spiritual equivalent of a very hateful Adolph Hitler on steroids. The Pharisees mixed religion with politics all the time in their quest for religious/political power. In contrast, Jesus Christ was very service to mankind oriented and never did seek to gain political power. And with this Jesus got along well with everyone he met and saw, except for the pharisees and the scribes. A number of gospel scriptures show this. Even a section where Jesus casts out harmful demonic spirits from people needing healing with the people being thankful, while in contrast the pharisees saying he did this through the use of the same demonic spirits. Jesus let them know they were ignorant and perhaps making them look like bias political religious idiots was a form of entertainment for Jesus. I think Caiaphas was speaking truthfully and that God was revealing to him at least some truth regarding the ultimate salvation for mankind through the death and then later the resurrection of Jesus Christ. As for the pharisees. They were just selfish political people that only cared about their own political power and merely pretended to be religious. People like them was why the nation of Israel ended in a few centuries and then was directly under the Roman empire and NOT an actual independent nation. Also this was God's plan of salvation and not man's plan. The only one in these verses among the Jews with sense and compassion for mankind was Caiaphas. Because of this God was able to work in his heart and teach him. And these verses show that the Pharisees only killed Jesus for their own political power. Sometimes God can even use the dealings of evil for his ultimate goal of good for all.

I was going top post this, this morning with an additional commentary that I wrote, but my computer turned into a puter and the Internet crashed before I posted it. Perhaps I breathed on my puter wrong. Anyway this should be clear when reading this in context. Jesus raising Lazarus was a prophetical taste of Jesus being raised from the dead in the near future. This was 3 days after his death and sacrifice with his death being planned in the next verses. And these verses relate well to Paul's writings that Jesus died for both Jews and Gentiles with one united body of Christ as a result. However, the political/religious leaders of the nation of Israel only wanted their own political power and this is clear to me in these verses. As a result the nation of Israel along with the Roman empire who had slavery and other bad things both came to an end in the near future. A new nation of Israel only began again in the year 1948. I hope the leaders of this new nation now have a better attitude now than these leaders did. However, at least the high priest Calaphas had an attitude of service in wanting what was good for their nation and all of humanity. And he saw his nation getting destroyed if they did not change. And they did not and the nation along with the nation over them Rome both were destroyed and came to an end in the next few centuries. Yes, some ignorance also by the pharisees, but this was primarily a result of their own political greed. Even with Jesus healing and helping people they only cared about their own political/religious power and not what was good for their people. Jesus got in arguments all the time with these selfish people.

Waysider, the one verse that you have chosen to study and read from, from chapter 14, verse 22 is the least clear and most difficult to understand verse in this chapter. Even for me a student and teacher of the bible this takes time for analysis. If you are interested in this then simply read the context and see this is quoted directly after a law in the Old Testament is quoted. This verse pertains to this. My understanding of this is with my logic when it deals with unclear scripture. For more clarity read my commentary quoted in my previous post. Here are the scriptures before and after this verse to also help with clarity. And Waysider, your logic on this is fine. The context also agrees with your logic or as this chapter says that an unknown tongue when heard will not help the listener, but only primarily the speaker. In fact, the listener of any tongue regardless of whether this is from God or not from God, when spoken in an unknown language out loud with a listener not knowing this is something that should be for the speakers private prayer and praise to God, would not see any helpful effects at all. They might even think the speaker is crazy. This is why Paul clearly states in this chapter that tongues from the Spirit of God should be for private speech or prayer/praise to God and not done out loud. Obviously, if I or another person only SIT's silently to oneself then this will have no negative effect on you or other people. Anytime SIT is done in a gathering of people it should also be followed with the interpretation in the language of the people present in order to have any possibility of a helpful effect on the hearers of the tongue.

Below is more information on 1 Corinthians chapter 14, where Paul teaches and explains Speaking in tongues. This chapter as taught by Paul clearly explains that Paul spoke in tongues as part of this private prayer and praise to God life, but also explained that speaking in tongues out loud without interpretation in the language of the people present did not help them and they could just be considered a foreigner to them as chapter 14, verse 11 states. I looked up John 11:26 using my biblical software. The word for age which is Strong's number 165 is part of John 11:26. For biblical versions to leave this Greek word "Aion" out of this verse shows a lack of understanding by the translators. Here is a more literal biblical version, which may not be clearly written, but at least places this Greek word in this verse. John 11:26- Young's Literal Translation (YLT) 26 and every one who is living and believing in me shall not die -- to the age; Here is a link to an article that I have written pertaining to the New Testament Greek word for age. Greek words literally used right next to "age" Strong's number 1519, means "of a place entered, or of entrance into a place, into" and another Greek word which is translated "the, this, that, one, he, she, it, it, etc." which is Strong's number 3588. The definitions for these Greek words are from the Thayer's Greek Lexicon. From the actual Greek words used in this verse and my detailed study of the Greek words for "Age" as used in the New Testament with link above. This translation is more accurate. verse. 26 "and whoever lives and believes in me will not ever die in the Age to come. Do you believe this?” And stated again. The translation of three Greek words as seen in John 11:26 using the Strong's numbering system, with definitions above is in this order, "1519", "3588", "165". To then only translate this as the English "Never" shows a lack of understanding and perhaps also doctrinal bias.

Yes, Raf, I know you were not disagreeing with my posts here. And by me posting historical information hopefully not disagreeing with your posts. Merely, I was giving actual historical information regarding the translation of texts from different languages, for example Koine Greek in order to publish the King James Version of the bible, which is for the English language. Thanks for the information. In reading some of the chapters that I have studied in detail and written biblical commentaries on. Their biblical version seems fine and legitimate. Of course, I am not saying it is better or worse than other bible versions. I appreciate the work involved in all biblical versions. Are you referring to a commentary on the book of Revelation perhaps written by John Schoenheit? I know John and consider him a good bible teacher. However, regarding the book of Revelation I consider myself more a student of the Apostle Paul. I think whoever, wrote the book of Revelation should have been more of a student of the Apostle Paul also. Yes, you can learn some things from it, but it has also resulted in a lot of doctrinal disagreements and even doctrinal error because of the figurative and not clear language used. This is a false statement of judgment on your part only and nothing more. Are you the one only that should analyze whether or not someone is actually SIT as a language that God has actually inspired or provided to an individual? You are only responsible for applying what you want to apply and not what other people want to apply. As an example, 1 Corinthians 14 indicates that Paul did SIT, while other people either did not or applied it much less than he did. Can you at least read that Paul did SIT? If you can not see or read this then it is because you don't want to. Also what you are saying now disagrees with someone that I spoke in tongues to for him to actually listen to recently. He told me it sounded to him like a language. However, today when we hear other people speak foreign languages that we don't understand, we often don't see or understand the structure of this human language. This could require actually being able to speak and understand the language spoken, which does not happen with SIT. This is only a language to God for prayer and praise. Some people may or may not believe that SIT is from God and is a language. However, everyone should at least see that over the years people have developed thousands of languages. The many languages have often been for communication, but also some languages developed by people have had other goals and results. For example, the languages used so that this and other web sites exist. These languages are PHP, which I have studied and completed two 16 week college classes in studying. This language used for this web site is used with other languages, HTML, CSS and JavaScript. If mankind can develop many languages, then if God does exist as the creator of mankind, God would be able to develop many languages also. The goal for the languages of SIT are prayer and praise to God and direct and personal communication with God.

Yes, Paul and Acts chapter 2 does say or indicate that it is a language. A person that I know who NEVER was involved with TWI asked me about SIT. I explained it to him. Then he asked me to speak in tongues for him to be able to listen to it. I normally just SIT for my private prayers silently as Paul says to do. However, I did his request. After I finished he then told me it sounded to him like an actual language. Was I then suppose to disagree with him? He simply told me in English that it sounded like a language to him. Yes, a language that he did not know as I did not follow it with the interpretation. We were together with family members and were speaking quietly to each other.

Raf, I am relating to a DIFFERENT part of the Mosaic law than you are. I am merely going by your sentence titled, "Are you more moral than Yaweh?" I am merely relating this to a different part of the Mosaic law. And relating to Tzaia's post below. I have nothing critical in reply to your post. I am just bringing up a different aspect that I disagree with than you are. Both are OK with me. However, ISIS sounds much worse. This is purely bias and nothing more. Why don't you think the Mosaic Law and its actual application relates to the morality of God or as Raf calls God, Yahweh? Obviously to me at least, the Mosaic law does relate to the morality of God. The above is an example of the scribes and pharisees not actually applying the Mosaic Law. Why should we blame God for this?

Again, I don't see a problem with the Mosaic Old Testament law. I do see a problem with the nation of Israel actually following and applying this law for their nation. Here are more examples where Jesus Christ, the living Word of God as John chapter 1 clearly points out, opposed the Israel political religious elite when they did not actually apply the word and law of God his Father. People today should be able to see this with the stimulation of the U.S. economy through trillions of dollars of increased U.S. government debt.

Hello Tzaia. Here is biblical information for your good questions. Also here are scriptures relating to what needed to be paid back by the thief to the person he or she stole from. Regarding debt the above clearly shows that the people of Israel and perhaps also people of other nations often charged high interest rates on money borrowed. However, the Old Testament law was against charging interest of any kind as this relates to people of the nation of Israel charging interest to other people of the same nation. Regarding paying back debt when thievery was not involved I am sure that it was only required to pay back the exact amount. However, with high interest on loans this needed pay back can then literally multiply. God's biblical spokesmen were against the charging of interest on loans. And the year of Jubilee as part of the Old Testament law states that all debts were to be forgiven every 50th year. Again the only question is was this law actually applied by the people? Exodus 22:1 1 "If a man steals an ox or a sheep, and slaughters it or sells it, he shall restore five oxen for an ox and four sheep for a sheep. NKJV Exodus 22:7-9 7 "If a man delivers to his neighbor money or articles to keep, and it is stolen out of the man's house, if the thief is found, he shall pay double. 8 If the thief is not found, then the master of the house shall be brought to the judges to see whether he has put his hand into his neighbor's goods. 9 "For any kind of trespass, whether it concerns an ox, a donkey, a sheep, or clothing, or for any kind of lost thing which another claims to be his, the cause of both parties shall come before the judges; and whomever the judges condemn shall pay double to his neighbor. Raf, where you are being untruthful is your statement that I am bearing false witness against you. I never even mentioned you in the post from last night. And from this you have become offended.
