  1. TLC, you are showing from your quotes that you don’t want to learn from other people. Here I quote the actual scriptures written by the Apostle Paul and you don’t want to even learn from him. This is shown by you not even quoting from his writings. Do you even believe that Jesus Christ lived and walked on the earth? Do you believe that after he died, that God raised him from the dead to live eternally? That shows no sense to not learn from other people who have studied certain subjects more than you have. Some things other people know better than us and some things we could know better than other people. And here you go again, now ignoring the symbolically stated “beast”. You sound like if you actually met someone like Paul from the 1st century or Daniel from the Old Testament period of time you would ignore them also. Please at least try to show common sense. For example, the German nation under Adolph Hitler does not have to be a mystic nation. It actually did exist and yes could be called a beast that represented a kingdom of the recent century using the same figurative language. So when Nazi Germany lost World War 2. Did everyone in the nation get blamed for being beasts? They used common sense and had a trial and judged people according to what they actually did with a penalty of some kind for the people who did bad things. After this the nation of Germany and the people overall improved. So with the Judgement by God of people in the future do you think people will be worse than before? If scriptures are too complex for you to read and understand, then please at least try to use common sense. The future trials of mankind should have improved results for man. Otherwise what is the point? Only to torture people? Is this what Jesus Christ said to do right before he got murdered for no crime? Luke 23:34 Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” In contrast, some crazy people think that God's judgement in the future is only to torture.
  2. TLC, all you are doing is IGNORING what I previously posted here. And what I post is not related to the doctrine of trinity. I only posted this because of YOUR QUESTION to me regarding "universalism". In contrast, I am making no positive judgement on the figurative "beast". And you are now mentioning something that is again unrelated to the original topic that you do not understand. You are even now doing what you are quoting from 2 Peter 2:12, "blaspheme in matters they do not understand". So now you are bringing up the word beast after ignoring something unrelated, the Greek word translated as fire, which is "pur". Below is information on the word "beast". Which you also might want to ignore. Please stop asking questions unless you want to learn new things. Also the word "pur" that I have quoted from relates to individual people. It does not relate to governments that today have power, which below are figuratively called "beasts".. These governments will not have power and authority in the future. They only get this today from the God of this weird world under Satan. My figurative language "weird world". BEAST Literally, an animal; figuratively, a symbol, often prophetic. The word beast is used literally in three ways in the Bible: (1) any animal, both CLEAN and UNCLEAN (Genesis 6:7; 7:2; Leviticus 11:1-8); (2) a wild animal, as distinguished from domesticated animals (Genesis 1:24; 7:21; 37:20; Exodus 23:11); and (3) a domesticated animal (Genesis 1:24; 2:20; Exodus 19:13). As a prophetic symbol, the word beast is used especially in the Book of Daniel and the Book of Revelation. The four beasts of Daniel symbolize four cruel, tyrannical governments: (1) a lion (Babylon); (2) a bear (Media); (3) a leopard (Persia); and (4) a dreadful and terrible beast (Greece). See Daniel 7:3-7. In the Book of Revelation, two beasts are described in detail: the beast from the sea, a composite of the four beasts of Daniel (Revelation 13:1-10), and the beast from the land (Revelation 13:11-18). Apparently, these two beasts symbolize political and religious power respectively. In John's day, at the time when he wrote the Book of Revelation, the two "beasts" which opposed and persecuted the church were the Roman Empire (the political "beast from the sea") and the cult of emperor worship (the religious "beast from the land"). Together with the Dragon (Satan), they formed an unholy trinity that tried to destroy God's people. The Bible often uses the word beast in other symbolical or figurative ways. For instance, the psalmist wrote, "I was like a beast before You" (Psalms 73:22), referring to his foolish, ignorant, and brutish behavior. The apostle Paul wrote, "I have fought with beasts at Ephesus" (1 Corinthians 15:32) - a metaphor for the enemies who fought ferociously against him and the gospel of Christ which he preached. 3. Regarding the figurative lake of fire. The word fire is the Greek word "pur". Looking at Thayer's Greek lexicon, the first definition that is listed is "to purify". This is the same Greek word used in Acts 2:3 with the receiving of the holy spirit. Here are three usages of this same Greek word in 1 Corinthians 3:13-15. Here the Greek work "pur" is the same word translated fire. It has a goal of the purification of man's sin nature. Otherwise what is the purpose of fire? Yes, for bad evil people they likely will not like it. However, it is not for punishment only. It is also for the purification of man's sin nature. 13 their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work. 14 If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward. 15 If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved—even though only as one escaping through the flames. Regarding the second death, you can reread my comments on Paul's very good explanation in 1 Corinthians 15:20-28. Here is another verse written by Paul to look at and consider. 10 but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. One additional way to look at the second death is the death of death. Or as Paul explains in 1 Corinthians 15:26, " The last enemy that will be destroyed is death."
  4. Also the apostle Paul was more knowledgeable than the writer of the book of Revelation. Also John the writer of the book of Revelation does NOT write clearly as he has much figurative and not literal language. Below is an example of this. I think he should have been a better student of the apostle Paul. And if you read the book of Revelation chapters 21 and 22. He writes of a city with 12 gates. On the inside are good people and on the outside are bad people. He writes that no good people can enter the gates. However, these are gates and people can go through gates. However, to go through these gates the people outside the walls and gates have to change and get rid of their bad. I think Jesus Christ can change people and get them to follow him. As an example, he even turned a bad person, Saul, who later was renamed to Paul into a good person. A very good teacher of God's word. Is it OK if I give Paul a grade of "A"? And according to 1 Corinthians 15:28, I hope you at least see that Jesus Christ has the goal of "God being all in all". Before any verse is quoted from the book of Revelation it is important to see that this book is written with figurative and not literal language. The following is one paragraph from a reference book that I learn from, the Nelson’s Bible Dictionary. Like its counterparts, the Book of Revelation depicts the end of the present age and the coming of God's future kingdom through symbols, images, and numbers. These symbols include an angel whose legs are pillars of fire, men who ride on horses while smiting the earth with plagues of destruction, and a fiery red dragon with seven heads and ten horns who crouches before a heavenly woman about to deliver a child. 5. This was on the 2nd page of the article that I wrote pertaining to the Greek word Age. It takes time to read, but it is readable. 1 Corinthians 15:20-28 20 But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21 For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. 22 For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. 23 But each in his own turn: Christ, the firstfruits; then, when he comes, those who belong to him. 24 Then the end will come, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father after he has destroyed all dominion, authority and power. 25 For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. 26 The last enemy to be destroyed is death. 27 For he "has put everything under his feet." Now when it says that "everything" has been put under him, it is clear that this does not include God himself, who put everything under Christ. 28 When he has done this, then the Son himself will be made subject to him who put everything under him, so that God may be all in all. NIV God has delegated all things pertaining to the church for the salvation of mankind under Jesus Christ his Son. We see in the above verses in Adam all die and in Christ all will be made alive. Since we have death for all of humanity, even Jesus Christ, we have in or through Christ all in the future made alive. This order of life after death is Christ first being raised from the dead. Then when He comes those who belong to him or the followers of Jesus Christ being raised from the dead. For an explanation of this see 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18. Next we see all dominion, authority and power destroyed with Jesus Christ reigning as King or ruler until He has put all, and this includes even his enemies, under his feet or rulership. Then the last enemy to be destroyed is death. In the original Greek the word for destroyed (katargeoo) means "to render idle, unemployed, inoperative, to cause to cease, put an end to, do away with, annul, abolish". Death cannot be destroyed by there only being no further death. Death can only be destroyed and put to an end with the addition of a general resurrection. When death is finally destroyed this means no more death for humanity with all being made alive. When Jesus Christ finally reaches his goal of all or everything under His lordship or rulership, then Jesus Christ will turn back this authority to God his Father, so that God will or "may be all in all". This means all of humanity under God's commandments and with God's character, the foundation of which according to Jesus Christ as seen in Matthew 22:36-40 is to love God with all your heart and soul and love your neighbor as yourself.
  6. You can say that considering I did a web site on this subject. Here is one of the articles on this site which I wrote. Other people wrote other articles on my web site. http://christian-universalism.info/agegreekwords-pg1.html
  7. One thing that the devil or evil spirits are really good at doing is deception and lying. We see this in the figurative explanation from the first chapters of the book of Genesis. God said not to do this harmful thing and it will result in death. However, the devil being figuratively called the serpent said, do this and you will still live. And today we have death. One of the causes of death is cancer. The cause of death relates to the bad things that people do when deceived by the God of this world who I figuratively call the Spiritual Commander and Thief. Jesus Christ said Satan/devil is here to "steal, kill and destroy". Can he do this directly? No! Satan needs to use deception to get people to do bad things for their bodies, for example smoke a lot of cigarettes and drink a lot of alcohol to cause death by cancer. And Satan needs to use greedy people to help cause cancer in other people through companies like Monsanto. With Monsanto developing chemicals to kill weeds that also add unhealthy things to healthy plants that we eat.
  8. Yes, it could be considered political, but it could also be considered legal and it could also be considered economic. I simply mainly wanted to provide a link so that people would read information on this and look this up. I am not here to make many posts on this thread. Also it is not posted to favor a political party. That would be mostly political. As an example of legal, one of the links has an article with a commentary on the U.S. Constitution that includes a direct quote from one of the sections.
  9. Only if you know what to look using a Google search. This is information on what to look up with a Google search. As another example, have you even seen TPP, Trans-Pacific Partnership on your local newspaper? One of the only days that I saw this included an article written by Michael Froman, the U.S. Trade Deficit Representative who has been the main promoter of TPP. In his article, Froman mentions exports 12 times in his article and 7 times in a chart as part of the article. He mentioned imports and any related word ZERO times This was published on May 10, 2015 in the San Francisco Chronicle newspaper. When you analyze trade between nations you are suppose to do the calculations for both the exports and the imports. The trade balance of every nation is Exports minus Imports equaling Trade Balance. Trade Between Nations
  10. Most people in the U.S.A. have not heard of TPP. As an example, I asked individual people at an event yesterday if they had heard of TPP and most people said they had not heard of TPP. Yes, you can look it up on Google after you know what to look up. However, you will not know what to look up until you at least know it exists. This is to provide information on this with information at least showing the math of the U.S. and it's yearly trade deficits. Today our U.S. economy is primarily being stimulated by increased debt, especially federal government. One of the main reasons for this is our yearly U.S. trade deficits. For example, the U.S. federal government owes Communist China over $1 trillion dollars with increases on the interest of loans through federal government bonds. Also U.S. assets are being purchased by China, for example U.S. real estate. This is related to our high yearly U.S. trade deficits with China. This has been the result of our trade with China, which was signed into law as a result of granting China "Most Favored Nation" status in about the year 2000. Since then the U.S. has had trade deficits of over 350 billion dollars a year. We buy their goods and then they are able to buy our U.S. assets. I hope math is O.K. to post on this site. Now we have a larger corporate trade deal with 12 nations called TPP, Trans-Pacific Partnership. For the U.S. involving trade it would be much better to follow our U.S. constitution. Here is an article on this. Do people consider the U.S. Constitution political or legal? U.S. Constitution, Article I, Section 8, Paragraphs 1-3
  11. TPP, the Trans-Pacific Partnership has been kept in secret. For example, I was at a Fair in Marin County, CA today and this evening and I handed out some flyers to some people on this with my informational web site address. Most of the the people that I talked to had not even heard of this. So I am trying to educate people now. This is a corporate trade deal involving 12 nations. Have you at least heard of NAFTA? Below is a link to information on this. And yes, TPP will be bad for US. tppbadforus.info This web site has information on U.S. and foreign trade. Yes, this could be considered political, but U.S. foreign trade is mostly economic and legal. And if you do a Google search on this. Most of the site information that you will find will show that TPP is bad. Except now, we have a Google paid advertisement at the top that pretends that TPP will be good. Just notice the Ad symbol indicating a paid advertisement. And I am not posting this to start a discussion. I just want to try to help educate the people of our nation. We need this. A link only to this site to help with the research would be good enough.
  12. I wonder if they think this contradicts the teachings of Jesus? Romans chapter 13 8 Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law. 9 For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not bear false witness,” “You shall not covet,” and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 10 Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. And one more thing Twinky. May I please pet your kitty Cats? Thank you.
  13. DontWorryBeHappy, at least try to read Paul's writings, which DO NOT contradict the words of Jesus Christ. Here they are again for you. And No, posting others commentaries is NOT required here. This is the choice of individuals. And yes, people sometimes are able to write commentaries. If you want to ignore them you are risking staying ignorant.
  14. The question now is who is ignoring these scriptures right after the scriptures you say the pastor quoted from? Are you ignoring them or did he or she ignore them? And NO, not every government follows this all the time. If all nations would follow this then we would not have wars between nations under their governing authorities. However, sorry, but we have had wars between nations. Do wars between nations show love and follow the below? Romans chapter 13 8 Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law. 9 For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not bear false witness,” “You shall not covet,” and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 10 Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.
  15. Here are the verses right before Romans 13. These verses promote being peaceful and loving to all of mankind. Sorry, but someone like Adolph Hitler would not qualify as being peaceful and loving. For his punishment it would be "Vegeance is Mine, I will repay." This will certainly be in the future judgement of mankind. However, seeing the next verses it could also be in this age. Romans chapter 12 Behave Like a Christian 9 Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. 10 Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; 11 not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; 12 rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer; 13 distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality. 14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. 16 Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion. 17 Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. 18 If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. 19 Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. 20 Therefore “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.” 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Next we have Romans chapter 13. This is the equivalent of the police for overcoming evil in our age. Obviously, the police must have high standards of justice for all. There goal is to protect the loving and peaceful against thieves and murderers. If they don't follow high standards, obviously they need to get fired. Paul here shows confidence that they would follow high standards. Unfortunately when mixed with the scribes and pharisees, who he was a member of previously they did not with Paul's unjust death in the near future. Hence, the scribes and pharisees and nation of Israel came to an end some time after this. And so did the Roman empire. Please read this in context with verses 8, 9, and 10. And if any pastor reads verses out of context, he or she needs to be corrected. 13 Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. 2 Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. 3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. 4 For he is God’s minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God’s minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil. 5 Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience’ sake. 6 For because of this you also pay taxes, for they are God’s ministers attending continually to this very thing. 7 Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor. Love Your Neighbor 8 Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law. And one more thing. Paul's teachings are in harmony with Jesus Christ's teachings. Mark writes this while sleep walking.
  16. Your above comment is fine. Sorry for not disagreeing with it at least in general principle. Mentioning 1 Corin. 3:10, Rom. 11:3 and Eph. 2:20 is good. It would be best though to actually quote the entire scripture for a more thorough analysis. Ephesians 2:17-22 New International Version (NIV) 17 He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. 18 For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit. 19 Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. 21 In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. 22 And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit. The holy temple is figurative for the body of Christ of which we are members and contributors, hopefully with a necessary service oriented attitude. And this is built on the teachings and application of the apostles and prophets, but certainly the main foundation is what is figuratively here called the chief cornerstone, Jesus.
  17. The main thing to have a gift ministry is to be service oriented. A special title is secondary at best. Please don't turn this into an argument. This is the doctrinal forum. This requires scriptural analysis. I do not see apostles today. Historically, Paul was an apostle and we have been left with his very good teachings in his role as an apostle. Today we can have other ministries as long as they are service oriented and under Jesus Christ and his Lordship. I also consider Jesus Christ my friend and the equivalent of a spiritual genius.
  18. 1 Corinthians 12:28 continues this chapter. 28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. King James Version This is the godly order for the work of the ministry. The word “first”, in the Greek, is the word “proton” and means, from Thayer’s lexicon, first in time or place or in any succession of things or persons; first in rank, influence and honor. First the apostles were given and then communicated the Word of Christ. They are the ones that Jesus Christ himself originally trained. They are the ones that the bible records as first having received the Holy Spirit and then manifested it. Additionally, the writing of scripture was delegated, by Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit, for the most part, to the apostles. Chief among them was the amazing apostle Paul, who wrote thirteen of our biblical epistles to the church or to members in particular. “Secondarily” is the Greek word “deuteros” and, according to Strong’s Greek definitions, means second in time, place, or rank. The prophets secondarily, in support of the apostles doctrine, confirm and point the believers back to this doctrine of God’s Word in all its purity. See 1 Corinthians 14:37, which will be covered later in this teaching series. However, the apostles and prophets together lay the foundation for the church of which Jesus Christ is chief cornerstone. Ephesians 2:19-20 19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God; 20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; King James Version Third, “tritos” in Greek, the teachers take that same doctrine, as originally given by the apostles and then confirmed by the prophets, and expound on it with great simplicity so that all believers who want to learn can understand it. After this, also in verse 28, some of the other gifts and ways of serving are listed in no particular order. A friend of mine, Julian Kernes, who has been one of my proof readers for this teaching, summed up 1 Corinthians 12:28. “Apostles revealed the doctrine, prophets directed people to the doctrine and teachers taught the doctrine much like you have written. Miracles, healings, helps, governments, and tongues are either the manifestation of the spirit or actions taken based on the doctrine of the Word of God. First comes the doctrine of the Word, then the practical application of the Word of God.” Next, 1 Corinthians 12:29-30 states: 29Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? 30Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? King James Version A series of questions is asked. These questions may require an answer, but this answer is easy and the same for all. No! However, in stating no, many believers often forget the context of this entire section of scripture. Namely, the smooth running and operation of the church. To be a viable participant and member in particular of the church you are not required to be all and to do all these things listed. Rather, the ideal church is one that works together with each member supplying and fulfilling a particular need for the body of Christ. Hence, you have a variety of people contributing gifts, services, and operations. 1 Corinthians 12:31 concludes this chapter. 31 But covet earnestly (or eagerly desire) the best gifts (charisma): and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way (or from the New International Version) And now I will show you the most excellent way. King James/New International Versions This most excellent way, shown in the next chapter, is God’s love. It is through this love that the church is able to work together in a unified fashion with all the various gifts distributed to God’s people. 1 Corinthians Chapter 12
  19. Eternal sin or seeing the need of the Holy Spirit Regarding the false concept of eternal torment for a life time of sin, here is another scriptural usage of the Greek word aionios, the adjective usage relating to age, which has been misunderstood. Mark 3:28-29 28 I tell you the truth, all the sins and blasphemies of men will be forgiven them. 29 But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; he is guilty of an eternal (aionios) sin." NIV First of all let’s look at the context or the situation of the above message as stated by Jesus Christ. Mark 3:22-30 22 And the teachers of the law who came down from Jerusalem said, "He is possessed by Beelzebub! By the prince of demons he is driving out demons." 23 So Jesus called them and spoke to them in parables: "How can Satan drive out Satan? 24 If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25 If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. 26 And if Satan opposes himself and is divided, he cannot stand; his end has come. 27 In fact, no one can enter a strong man's house and carry off his possessions unless he first ties up the strong man. Then he can rob his house. 28 I tell you the truth, all the sins and blasphemies of men will be forgiven them. 29 But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; he is guilty of an eternal (aionios) sin." 30 He said this because they were saying, "He has an evil spirit." NIV First of all in Jesus’ explanation to the teachers of the law, known as scribes, and their false, arrogant and ignorant accusation against Jesus himself, he lets them and others know that they show no sense whatsoever with their false statement. Namely, their false statement that Jesus is only casting out demons, also called evil spirits, from people by using other demons and not via the power of the Holy Spirit through God the creator, who is Jesus’ Father by birth. As if an evil spirit would want to cast out another evil spirit and thereby only divide one group against another group. When this is done politically this will only result in a declining or falling nation. The same is true spiritually. The majority of people that heard about Jesus casting out evil spirits from people were very thankful of the healing effect that occurred for the individual people. However, the teachers of the Old Testament law who were given political power were not only, not thankful, they opposed Jesus and his desire to help and heal others. Jesus, states clearly in verse 28 that all the sins of man will be forgiven. However, when combined with the ignorance that the arrogant teachers of the law, referred to as scribes were showing in not being able to even see the difference spiritually between the Holy Spirit and evil spirits this would result in sin as long as this ignorance continued. Stated another way as seen from 1 Corinthians chapter 15, we only have eternal life through our future new spiritual body given to us through Jesus Christ and not through our natural physical bodies. If we are opposed to the Holy Spirit or have confused the Holy Spirit with evil spirits why should we get or want a needed new spiritual body. Instead we would only have a desire for our old sinful body and nature and would not see the need for a new spiritual body, which is covered in detail in 1 Corinthians 15. Also this attitude of the teachers of the law shows a hard heart with them not showing any desire to repent and admit they were wrong about anything pertaining to godliness. What these verses show is that religious or political leaders that are false in their arrogance may be in the Future Lake of Fire the longest and maybe even for what are considered multiple ages. However, let's hope that God and his son Jesus Christ in the future age or ages can even smarten up the religious leaders so that even they will accept the Lordship of Jesus Christ. For similar verses, see Matthew 12:22-32 Matthew 12:22-32 from the New King James Version (NKJV) A House Divided Cannot Stand 22 Then one was brought to Him who was demon-possessed, blind and mute; and He healed him, so that the blind and[a] mute man both spoke and saw. 23 And all the multitudes were amazed and said, “Could this be the Son of David?” 24 Now when the Pharisees heard it they said, “This fellow does not cast out demons except by Beelzebub, the ruler of the demons.” 25 But Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them: “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand. 26 If Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand? 27 And if I cast out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they shall be your judges. 28 But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you. 29 Or how can one enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man? And then he will plunder his house. 30 He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad. The Unpardonable Sin 31 “Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. 32 Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come.
  20. Priest says Hell is an invention of the church to control people with fear. I agree with the priest on this. And for this usage of church this would be organizations that want to mix their religion with politics in order to try to control people. We see that much historically with the Scribes and Pharisees of the 1st century church.
  21. Sinful nature destroyed Regarding aion, aionas and aionios a biased and errant understanding of these three words deals with so called eternal torment or punishment for most of mankind for a lifetime of sin with no salvation possible. First of all let's examine a scripture that shows just the opposite. Yes, there is a form of punishment for mankind as seen in 1 Corinthians 5:5, but from this scripture it does not include eternal torment. Instead it includes the opposite which is salvation. 1 Corinthians 5:5 5 hand this man over to Satan, so that the sinful nature may be destroyed and his spirit saved on the day of the Lord. New International Version (NIV) First of all in context this man's sins were large and even worse than what was preached or practiced by people in pagan religions, a man having sexual relations with the wife of his father, as clearly written in 1 Corinthians 5:1. 1 Corinthians 5:1 1 It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that does not occur even among pagans: A man has his father's wife. NIV Perhaps this was actually his mother by birth or his adopted mother. Which of these two is not stated here. However, clearly this is an example of man's sinful nature. When a person has such a sinful nature that cannot be corrected through truthful teaching to the individual the only other option for correction is for that person to reap what he has sewn or receive the harmful effects of his sin nature. In verse 5:5 this is through Satan, the God of man's sin nature with this man being handed over to Satan. The goal of God is the purification of man's sin nature or seeing this sin nature being destroyed as we see here and in other biblical verses. The goal is not punishment as this verse clearly states even this especially sinful man also will receive spiritual salvation on the day of the Lord or as the above verse states, "his spirit saved on the day of the Lord." Read in the same church epistle written by Paul 1 Corinthians chapter 15. This chapter tells us about natural bodies that all humanity has with its weakness and ultimate death and spiritual bodies raised in glory and power that we will receive thanks to Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. 1 Corinthians 15:42-44 42 So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; 43 it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; 44 it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. NIV After this man in 1 Corinthians 5:5 experiences what Satan is here to do, which according to John 10:10 is steal, kill and destroy. Then perhaps when our loving God presents Himself to this man again he will finally accept it and not reject the truthful God, thereby avoiding more of the harmful and painful effects and nature of the deceiving and lying God of this world, Satan. This at least is God's goal so that at the end God will "be all in all". Otherwise what is the point of turning someone over to Satan? Does God or God's Son ever promote following Satan? No and Jesus Christ even cast out from people many demons which are spiritual beings under the authority of Satan. Jesus did this as part of the healing of people. See this in a number of verses, for example, Matthew 8:16, Matthew 9:33, Mark 1:34, Mark 1:39, and Luke 13:32. Jesus also taught and instructed his disciples so that they also cast out demons from people. See Matthew 10:8, Mark 6:13, and Mark 16:17. Here is the goal of Jesus Christ which is completed in verse 28 with, "so that God may be all in all".
  22. Aionios, the descriptive word related to Aion or Age Another Greek word that is misunderstood is the related and descriptive adjective used word aionios. A definition of aionios is of or belonging to the age or ages. Since aion or age is often seen with a time limit then aionios can also mean enduring through or pertaining to a period of time. This related word could also simply refer to that which comes from God and relate to His purposes over a period of time or a number of periods of time. Certainly, God is eternal and this is part of God's characteristics and description and as the word aionis relates to God it can be viewed as eternal. However, as used with the word torment should not relate to eternal. It should relate to eternal only when associated with God. As an example, there are only 2 usages of this word (aionios) a descriptive adjective used in the book of Revelation. The book of Revelation teaches us about a future age or ages, and in the book of Revelation there are 25 usages of the noun aion, which is clearly used in a number of usages as we saw with a time limit. Also 24 of these usages in the book of Revelation for aion, are grouped together in pairs with aionas (plural) and aion (singular), with only one usage that is not. This one additional usage for the plural aionas is grouped with aionios, the adjective as seen below from the book of Revelation 1:18. Here is the scripture, which gives us the words of Jesus Christ our Lord, which shows that He has the keys to death and has eternal life. Revelation 1:18 18 I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever (aionas) and ever (aionios)! And I hold the keys of death and Hades. NIV The above verse should be positive to any true believer in Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ alive for ever and ever. Next is the only other usage of aionios in the book of Revelation shown in 14:6. Clearly this is also not promoting eternal torment for mankind. Rather it is promoting the worship of God, which thanks to our Lord Jesus Christ will result in salvation for all who believe in Him. And here we see the gospel, which is the goods news of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior offered to mankind. This gospel preached here is as eternal as God is Himself. This tells us that the gospel of Jesus Christ will continue to be preached in future ages and even eternally. Revelation 14:6-7 6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting (aionios) gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, 7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters. KJV The verses that combine aionas (plural) with aion (singular) are Revelation 1:6, 4:9, 4:10, 5:13, 7:12, 10:6, 11:15, 14:11, 15:7, 19:3, 20:10, and 22:5. These verses are showing multiple ages or time periods. Here is an example of one of these verses, which shows the reign and Lordship of Jesus Christ over the kingdoms of this world. As we have seen and will continue to see this future reign of Jesus Christ as Lord is what ultimately will be eternal. Revelation 11:15 15 Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, "The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever (aionas) and ever (aion)!" NKJV As previously explained when taken literally, how can there be multiple ages that are all eternal? And with multiple ages, one following the next, only the last one could be eternal. Additionally, pertaining to the biblical usages of the words involving torment, only two of these usages in the New Testament are used in context with the Greek words aion, aionas or aionios. These words for torment when using the Strong’s Greek word numbering system are found with 928, 929, 930 and 931. One of these two I have already covered is found in Revelation 14:10. The only other usage is in Revelation 20:10. Shall be tormented here only deals with the devil and with the symbolic and figurative beast and false prophet. This evil symbolizes religious and political power trying to destroy God's people as seen in Revelation 13:1-18. Revelation 20:10 10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire (pur) and brimstone (theion), where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever (aion) and ever (aion). KJV And even used here pertaining to the devil's future torment we see the same Greek words for fire and brimstone that we saw in Revelation 14:10, with burning brimstone regarded as having power to purify, and to ward off contagion. Hence, even for the evil sinister devil, God has a goal of purification, although the devil will not like it and experience painful torment.
  23. Age is only eternal as it relates to God the Creator of Life In conclusion, let’s look at some more usages of the word aion or age many of which are from the writings of the apostle Paul. As previously explained examining how words are used in context will help our understanding of individually studied words. This will result in an overall increased understanding of the truth of God's Word as researched in biblical versions. Let’s examine scripturally the fundamental truth that when age refers to the workings of man or the God of this world, Satan it comes with a time limit. In contrast, when age refers to the workings of God the creator of the heavens and the earth it is often referred to as eternal. First let’s see some of the other usages of aion or age showing a limited time period. When using the more recent New King James Version, the English word age is now used for the Greek word aion. In the older King James Version for these verses the word world was used for the Greek word aion. Some of these verses are as follows: 1 Corinthians 1:20, 1 Corinthians 2:6-8, 1 Corinthians 3:18, 1 Corinthians 10:11, 2 Corinthians 4:4, Ephesians 1:21, Ephesians 3:9, Ephesians 6:12, Colossians 1:26, 1 Timothy 6:17, Titus 2:12 and Hebrews 9:26. 1 Corinthians 2:6-9 6 However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age (aion), nor of the rulers of this age (aion), who are coming to nothing. 7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages (aion) for our glory, 8 which none of the rulers of this age (aion) knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 9 But as it is written: Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him. NKJV 2 Corinthians 4:3-4 3 But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, 4 whose minds the god of this age (aion) has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them. NKJV Ephesians 6:12 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age (aion), against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. NKJV 1 Timothy 6:17 17 Command those who are rich in this present age (aion) not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy. NKJV Here are some of the many verses using the Greek word aion as it relates to God or his Son Jesus Christ as eternal also referred to as forever. In these verses the word aion is translated forever 13 times, eternal 3 times and ever 6 times. Romans 1:25, Romans 11:36, Romans 16:27, 2 Corinthians 9:9, 2 Corinthians 11:31, Ephesians 3:11, Ephesians 3:21, Philippians 4:20, 1 Timothy 1:17, 2 Timothy 4:18, Hebrews 1:8, Hebrews 6:20, Hebrews 7:28, Hebrews 13:8 and Hebrews 13:21. Ephesians 3:11 11 according to the eternal (aion) purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord, NKJV Philippians 4:20 20 Now to our God and Father be glory forever (aion) and ever (aion). Amen. NKJV 1 Timothy 1:17 17 Now to the King eternal (aion), immortal, invisible, to God who alone is wise, be honor and glory forever (aion) and ever (aion). Amen. NKJV Hebrews 13:8 8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever (aion). NKJV In the next verses we see the two primary usages of age or aion with one usage showing a limited time period, followed by the next usages showing God as eternal. This is interesting because it shows the two different usages together. The first usage in verse 4 is this present evil age (aion), which has an ending. The next two usages of age (aion) in verse 5 we can see multiple ages and because they relate to God can result in forever or eternal. In looking at the verses as we have seen in this teaching, our hope is that mankind is delivered from this present evil age, which would mean that it is no longer in existence. This deliverance is through our Lord Jesus Christ and is according to the will of our God and Father. For this our God and Father and his Son Jesus Christ would get the glory forever (aion) and ever (aion). As a result we could have eternal salvation for all of mankind through our Lord Jesus Christ. Since God is a God of love, as stated in John 3:16, this would please God the highest and most. Gal 1:3-5 3 Grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, 4 who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age (aion), according to the will of our God and Father, 5 to whom be glory forever (aion) and ever (aion). Amen. NKJV
  24. Age with a limited duration of time Perhaps the most confusion of understanding on this subject is the lack of understanding of the Greek word translated either as age, world, ever, forever and with other translated version words. In Koine Greek this is the word aion, aioon or aioonos. When seeing the following biblical usages of this word aion, a clear definition is age with a limited duration of time, or a period of longer or shorter duration having a beginning and an end. When seeing other biblical usages, which will be covered on the final page of this study, this word could also be understood and used in context as an unbroken age, perpetuity of time, eternity. This Greek word is used as a noun. There are 125 usages of this word in the New Testament. From a number of usages of this word it is clearly seen that age often has a limitation of time with an end to the age. In the King James Version this is often translated world. However, most if not all of the newer biblical versions use the word age for aion more often. Below are versus with aion from the King James Version, followed by other biblical versions chosen randomly. As I stated previously, with editing biblical versions can improve for truth and clarity. Matthew 13:39-40 39 The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world (aion); and the reapers are the angels. 40 As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world (aion). King James Version (KJV) Matthew 13:39-40 39 and the enemy who sowed them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age (aion), and the reapers are angels. 40 Just as the weeds are gathered and burned with fire, so will it be at the end of the age (aion). English Standard Version (ESV) Matthew 13:49 49 So shall it be at the end of the world (aion): the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just, KJV Matthew 13:49 49 So it will be at the end of the age (aion); the angels will come forth and take out the wicked from among the righteous, New American Standard Bible Matthew 24:3 3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world (aion)? KJV Matthew 24:3 3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming and of the end of the age (aion)? Jubilee Bible 2000 Matthew 28:20 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world (aion). Amen. KJV Matthew 28:20 20 teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age (aion). New English Translation Clearly from the above usages age or aion in the Greek has an ending. From the next usages age or aion also has a beginning. The first two of the below verses also includes the related Greek word aionios, which as it relates to life through God can be seen as eternal or everlasting. We will see this in more detail later in this study. Mark 10:30 30 But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world (aion) to come eternal (aionios) life. KJV Mark 10:30 30 who may not receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brothers, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and fields, with persecutions, and in the age (aion) that is coming, life age-during (aionios); Young's Literal Translation Luke 18:30 30 Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world (aion) to come life everlasting (aionios). KJV Luke 18:30 30 who will not receive manifold more in this time, and in the age (aion) to come eternal (aionios) life." Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition Acts 15:18 18 Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world (aion). KJV Acts 15:18 18 God has made all His works known from the beginning of time (aion). New Life Version
