Eyewitnesses 1989-1992: Your Stories
Grace Valerie Claire replied to Oakspear's topic in About The Way
Why??!! I will never understand this type of behavior!! Hell, it sounds worse than Boot Camp, and Boot Camp was horrible!! I think I would have left. -
Thanks!! This is great!!
-
Hi Mark!! How is your wife?!! Life is good; I'll send you a PM.
-
Jeff, cute!! You are so polite, I think VPW was a POS!
-
Leaf, what a wonderful post!! Leave it to TWI to spoil one of the best days of the year; for what??!! It used to drive me nuts when I was told to say "Happy Household Holidays!" Bunk!!

Sky, I know when I first read the PooP paper, I couldn't believe how many mistakes Geer made in buying Gartmore. I have never bought any type of home, so I don't know all of the things involved with it. But, I thought people usually had blueprints drawn, and other plans in place before they bought a home. Why would he buy a place that is hard to drive to, or had little access to public transportation?? Or is in such shabby condition?? On, and on he whines about everything that was wrong with it. So why did you buy it?? OMG, the entire paper was nonsense. In my opinion, it seemed to me that he had no idea of what he was doing. And this guy was supposed to be the head of The Way of GB??!! -
Bol, I don't think so. Back in the 60's, and early 70's, people used to let it all hang out, whatever that meant. People were free to live, and let live. TWI wanted control over the lives of their people; nuts to that!

Chock, when I was in TWI decades ago all of those things that you mentioned, were your personal business. TWI didn't know my personal business, nor did they ask. However, I know from reading the 'Spot, that TWI made those things their business; perhaps that is why so many people left. I think they will be better off without TWI.

Twinky, wow!! I always thought TWI wanted HF because they didn't want to pay for a lot of overhead. But, I think you might be right; people tend to be more relaxed in home settings, than in a Church one. Wow! There can be a lot of abuse going on in homes, that no one knows about. I want to think about this.

HG, God I hope so. I hope the innies leave, and take their kids with them.

Grant, hello. Thanks for the information. Wow, I've attended Advances where they had more than 2500. But, I am not surprised at how small the numbers are. Today people can find out about various cults via the 'Net.
-
OS, I didn't know that! Thanks for the information.
-
Honey, tell us how you really feel about TWI!!
-
I wonder if they have enough people for one.
-
That poor woman!! I hope she has recovered from all she endured while in TWI.
-
Sun, I wonder how his wife coped with his evil ways. I thought she was a sweet woman, and a good teacher. I can't imagine being married to a man like VPW-ever!
-
Bear, so do I. So many women came to TWI, after they had abused, and neglected in their childhoods. And so what happens they were abused, and sometimes neglected as Adults. Makes me want to upchuck

And Goonies!!

The Gauntlet of Classes and Indoctrination

I remember that ROA; I had to carry around a jug of water all the time. -

Sky, so very true! Back in the late 70's, ROA used to be fun. The food, and fellowship were great. And the music was mind-blowing; JN, and others. I noticed a big change in ROA around 1981-82. Things became a lot more legalistic. I attended a few more, but my last one was ROA in 1987. Compared to other rocks, it sucked. That was my final one. -

I remember that Rock; I went out WOW that year. That was also my first Rock; and it was the best one I ever attended. It was fun, and people were free to do whatever they wanted to do.
