The Wierwille Legacy: Who Will Write The Book?
Grace Valerie Claire replied to skyrider's topic in About The Way
Chock, excellent post!! In my opinion, the heart of Christianity, teaches people how to "interact in a virtuous way." I hated all the yelling, and screaming in TWI. I never understood why there was so much of that nonsense. I thought the purpose of The Word was to make us better people; not to teach us to snap at each other. Chock, I think if TWI had taught people to interact with love, and patience, perhaps many of us would still be involved. -
Akhurnu, hello! I am so sorry to hear that "terrible things happened to you", in Gunnison. You can share as little, or as much as you want here. Trust me Honey, some of us here at the GSC, will understand what you are going through. But, please get professional help; I know it works. A lot of "terrible things" happened to me decades ago, and so am still dealing with them. Bless you Akhurnu, and thanks for sharing your story.

T-Bone, and Rocky, please go see it, it is a really good movie. T-Bone, I didn't think it was good as "All The President's Men", but it was quite good. -

Penworks, DWBH, and T-Bone, wow! All three of you have great posts, so I will address all three of you. Penworks, thank God, I can get your book at Barnes&Noble. I have, have to read it! I know you knew VPW first-hand, and have much to say about him, and TWI. DWBH, I knew in time you would have something kind, but funny to day about Mike's Dreck here on the GSC. You never fail to disappoint. Dreck is Dreck; it could be Dreck from the early 1970' s, or Dreck from 2017, it is still Dreck. T-Bone, I too was caught in a mental prison while in TWI. Finally, after 10 years, I got out of it, through the mercy of God. But, this is what I really want to say. I know this is off Topic, but to me it is important. My Gentleman friend, and I saw the movie "The Post" this afternoon, and it was great. It was about the Pentagon Papers, and how the "Washington Post" stuck it's neck out to bring people the truth about the Viet Nam war. The truth isn't always pretty, but we as a nation need to know the truth, about what happens in society, and throughout the world. To me, the purpose of the GSC is to tell the truth, about VPW, and the TWI. If people want to hear, the truth about TWI, they will. If they want to BS, about TWI, they can, and will, here at the GSC. It is up to them, to do what they want about the information they receive from this Website. I live in DC, and I think 2018 will bring a lot of changes to the American Presidentcy, and the nation. Shalom. -

Jay, good question!! I think followers of TWI, worshipped VPW, more than they worshipped Jesus Christ. Perhaps if we had worshipped Jesus Christ, instead of VPW, life would have been so more meaningful, and less stressful. Just my opinion. -

Mike, why on earth would adults want to attend meetings with people under 21? I know I wouldn't. BTW, I am not talking about people who want to "mess" with underage kids. -
OS, great post! It has been almost 40 years, since I was first involved with TWI. I was a young girl, who loved God, and wanted to help move "the Word." There were thousands of young people in TWI, who felt the same way I did. We went WOW, some of us joined the Corps, or lead TWIGS. We were young, and on fire for God. We thought we were doing Godly work, and gave willingly of our money, and time. However, knowing what I know now, I think we were deceived by VPW, and his minions. If I, and thousands like me, had known how evil VPW really was, we would never had gotten involved with TWI. I often think if TWI really had been of God, how much good it could have accomplished through out the world. What a huge waste of people, and all their resources.

WW, do they have a WOW program?? LMAO!

Rocky, leave it to you, to call Mike on his Bull Shucks! I have been reading all the posts with interest, and wondered when someone would call him on his posts. I think most of the posters have been very polite, but Bull Shucks are still BS! -

Way, once a cult, always a cult? I don't think TWI will ever stop being a cult, because there is no incentive to change. The leaders are sitting on top of millions of dollars, which they can draw from, and they do. Why would the leaders want change; it would not be in their best interests. There is no interest, like self-interest. -
Taxi, thanks, but I really am NOT interested in R&R. I would rather spend my time in at the GSC. I am pleasantly surprised by how much Godly information I glean from reading the posts. But again, thank you for the information.
-
Taxi, thank you for answering my questions. If others want to read their teachings, or go to their meetings, that's fine. However, I was involved in TWI for ten years. I do not want to get involved with a TWI Splinter Group.

Way, thanks for the link!! -
Taxi, R&R just teaches? I find that very interesting. I know very little about the group. Where do they teach? Do they teach in one area, or do they teach in various parts of the country?
-
Taxi, thank you for the update! I took the PFAL class, for the first time in May of 1978. I thought it was boring, and could not understand why so many people thought it was such a great class. I would love to hear your impressions of the new class, if you would like to share them with us. Merry Christmas to you, and thank you.
