  1. Mike, I don't "assume," this of you; I know it's true from reading your posts. People try to discuss ideas with you, and you often blow them off. Many people here, try to discuss ideas with you, and you give them "the run around." Mike, you keep saying the same things, over and over. God forbid, you should change your mind, and realize that VPW, and TWI were garbage. Well, if you want to think that VPW was wonderful, and your time in TWI was well-spent, that is your right. Me, I know that VPW was Garbage, and TWI was, and is an evil cult. Do what you want; I want people here at the GSC, to get answers to their questions about TWI.
  2. 49, thanks for the link. I think Macroni, holds the patent for the radio. But, I could be wrong. Does anyone know who really invented the radio?
  3. Bol, you are right!! I think he invented it in 1926.
  4. 49, WOW! Great post! I knew a few leaders, who were jerks. I think some of them, were on power trips. I stayed as far away from them, as possible.
  5. DWBH, Mike's mind is all ready made up. Please don't confuse him, with any facts.
  6. DWBH, I understand that you and Mike "were there." But, quite frankly, I think Mike "plays fast, and loose" with the truth. Whereas, you tell it, the way it really was. When you post, you know what you are talking about; you don't post a lot of Donkey Dung. Both you and Mike, "were there," but Mike posts as though life in TWI, was nothing but peace, and love. I think much of what he says is Dung. Shalom.
  7. Twinky, I can't believe how poorly paid most of the staff was. I realize most of them had food, and housing at "Way World," but still, the pay was dismal.
  8. Twinky, you are right. They are very intresting; wow!
  9. Chock, perhaps you are not "fixed", but your posts are thoughtful, and informative.
  10. Chock, for years and years I thought kids raised in "Way World," had easy, carefree childhoods. Then I read here at the GSC, that many of the kids raised in TWI, had less-than-perfect childhoods. OMG, some of the kids suffered from various forms of abuse. I realize that some of the kids perhaps had normal childhoods, but many of them didn't. I never realized how many kids growing up in cults, suffer various types of abuse. Poor kids!
  11. Less, greetings to you, and welcome to the GSC. If I may make a suggestion to you; I would start reading the GSC, from the first page, and read it, over, and over. Many people here have been in your situation. Also, thank God you are getting "professional help." I would encourage you to do what your Mental Health workers suggest for you to do; take your Meds, and go to your appointments. I too suffer from depression, and anxiety. In my opinion, the DCVAMC has good mental health care, if the patient takes his/her medication, and follows up with their appointments. I don't know how old you are, but you sound like a young person/young adult to me. What your mother does, is her business. She is responsible for her actions. Thank God, you got out of TWI; that was the first step. I have been reading, and posting here at the GSC for perhaps 18 months(?.) What a revelation it has been!! I thought I was alone, and I was the only one who had problems with TWI. Wow!! There are thousands(?) of people here, who have had good, and bad experiences with TWI. God bless you, and I pray that you will find answers here.
  12. T-Bone, true. And I think Sky is right, when he said that 82k(?) a year for LCM, was "not to shabby." However, I believe that someday God is going to judge us for our actions here on earth. I try to make sure that ever day, I am kind to people, and animals. I don't know when God, is going to call me home; I want to make sure God knows that I am as kind, and generous as possible everyday. I don't want to disappoint Him.
  13. T-Bone, bingo!! In the Twigs I attended, we were told to do what worked, to sign people up for the class. If you signed up a lot of people for "the class," you were a "hot believer." If you didn't sign up a lot of people, for PFAL, you were considered a mediocre believer, and not taken very seriously. Yes, now that I am out of that atmosphere, I see where many of us were hypocrites. We could be azzholes in our private lives, but if we signed people up for "the class," we were great people, no matter what we did in our private lives. Hypocrites and Dirt Bags, to say the least.
  14. 49, bless you and your wife!! 33 years!! Wow! I will definitely download your book. Have you read Sky's posts about his time in TWI?? 49, to me it was a mindblower, and well-written to boot. TWI tried to shoot-down a number of believers, who did independent research. What a shame! It is good to have you here at the GSC, 49. A lot of people might be interested in your research. Have you been to the Doctrinal Section? TTFN!
  15. 49, what a Grace(ful) post! I remember my first year in TWI was wonderful(1978.) However, as early as 1980, I knew things were changing in Way World, and not for the better. It seemed like people were more serious about running classes, and less kind to each other. If I had been smart, I would have left, but I stayed another eight years, hoping TWI would get better. Instead, it got worse. Finally, after ten years I left, for good.
  16. Socks, excellent post!! I too wonder why it took decades for the people in R&R, to jump ship. I would like to know what it was that made them leave TWI, when they did. But I suspect that a lot of it had to do with money.
  17. Twinky, I think your last paragraph was very interesting. I felt that much of what I did in TWI was "compelled", and not my "choice." God may have wanted people to "choose", but IMO, TWI "compelled" it's people to do a lot many things, not in their best interest.
  18. Rocky, I think you might be right: many of the people "retired" from TWI, and joined a different group, for money. Perhaps there are other factors, but I think money would be the most important reason, why the new group was formed.
  19. Gold, I live in DC, and have been for 20 years. DC is not a"closed society." Not at all!! Some people hate DC, while others like me, love it. People come, and go all the time. DC has a huge transit population, and has since it became the nation's capital, centuries ago. Why would anyone think that DC is a "closed society?"
