  1. Taxi, great post! I remember reading, "JCOPS," years ago. Wow! What a book! I knew as I read it, that VPW didn't write it; it was written by people who really knew what they were doing. It was way above the usual TWI Dreck. I think somewhere here at the GSC, someone wrote about the three(?) young men who wrote it. They left TWI, and had successful Academic careers. I think VPW wanted to claim the book, as his own, and they wanted the credit for writing the book. I think that was the reason why they left TWI.
  2. WW, that happens when you use your brain, and not your emotions.
  3. WW, great post! Thanks for the information!
  4. Mike, I have never met Penworks, but she seems like a very, very sharp lady to me. I love her posts; she is a very talented writer.
  5. Note that Pope's original wording uses the word 'humane' rather than, as it is now usually spelled, 'human'. This wasn't a spelling mistake, nor have we misunderstood the poet's meaning, just that 'humane' was the accepted spelling of 'human' in the early 18th century. Rocky, thanks! I thought it was Shakespeare.
  6. T-Bone, I think you have a very good head on your shoulders. But you are right; sometimes all of us have our heads in our azzes. Someone famous once wrote, "to err is human, to forgive divine," or something similar to that. God forgives, and forgets. So should I.
  7. T-Bone, great post! I think you are right in that "we should recognize the humaness of scripture." I think for me, Jesus Christ is the cornerstone of humanity; we can endure huge amounts of pain, and suffering, because of what he endured for us. In every situation in the Bible, we see that Jesus was triumphant over everyone, and everything, including death. However, the Bible was written thousands of years ago in cultures very different from our's. I think the Bible was written to show us, that God's son Jesus Christ could endure various human travils, and emerge triumphant. I know that I don't always act, or think like Jesus, but I know that I can endure the hardships of life, because Jesus has already triumphed over everything, and God sent him to teach me personally. Because I am human, I don't always see life, the way that God does. Boy, do I make mistakes!! However, I think the Bible teaches me to "keep trucking," and in God's time, I will reap the benefits of living life like Jesus Christ.
  8. Mike, Steve had great posts!! They were well-written, and thought-provoking. He knew what he was talking about; God bless him. I remember him with great fondness, and will miss him.
  9. 49, I for one, am glad you found your "way," here!! I love your posts; they make me laugh, and think!!
  10. Jay, bingo! I think if the internet had been around 40 years ago, I probably would never have gotten involved with TWI.
  11. Mike, what are you talking about?? I think there is a lot of "good," here at the GSC. For example, if you go back, and read the threads, many people have revealed the real TWI, not the one in your imagination. Ask Sky, and DWBH. They have written extensively about TWI, under VPW, and LCM. Also, Twinky, and T-Bone, have written about their time in The Corps. Rocky, also has written about his experiences in Way World. I find most of the people who come here, speak the truth about TWI, as honestly as possible. I know I do. I had some good experiences in TWI, and some unpleasant ones. What people here discourage is Bullsheet; people have gently, and sometimes, not so gently, let me know when I am off the mark. I think most of the people who post here, are kind, patient souls, but they can "separate truth from error," in a nanosecond. If you don't want to read negative posts, be more circumspect in what you post.
  12. Modcat5, great post! However, I know a bit about Cancer, first hand. I wish Cancer didn't exsist, but unfortunately it does. For anyone undergoing Cancer, it can be a unpleasant, sometimes terrifying ordeal, with nasty side effects. I strongly encourage people diagnosed with it, to get competent medical help. I did, and 14 years later, I am still alive. Praise God, and the angels at the DCVAMC, who helped me through my ordeal.
  13. Rocky, God bless you! My mother used to say this to me, years ago when I was a little kid! She has been dead for 16 years, but I miss her dearly. I still say this to family members, when I talk to them late at night.
  14. Rocky, thanks for the link. I always wanted to know what "confabulation" meant! Thanks!
  15. Twinky, thank you for your post. I will pray for him; I am a 14-year Cancer Survivor. I would not wish Cancer on anyone.
  16. Mike, I think people here have forgiven you a number of times. However, when people present you with facts, you give them a lot of insipid answers. Personally, I think you don't want to admit, to being wrong. I give up Mike; I don't have the patience to deal with you. Shalom!
