Did VPW think he understood the Bible better than the writers?
Rocky replied to Bolshevik's topic in About The Way
Every person thinks he's correct about pretty much everything... at least at first. With a humble (and in the words of Cesar Millan, the Dog Whisperer, calm/confident) outlook, the person can be willing to embrace his uncertainty. This is something Wierwille seems not to have been capable of, for the most part. Perhaps this is something he re-evaluated at the end when he was willing to express his wish to have been a better man. -
"I must be right because everyone is insisting I am wrong!"

Perhaps it's appropriate for everyone reading this thread to recognize Mike's 20 year track record on GSC clearly exposes him as a TWI reactionary. I invoke the term reactionary and provide a definition/description as it relates to political reaction only to show HOW it relates. I'm neither suggesting Mike is a political reactionary nor inviting a political discussion. Of course he's not completely alone in that pursuit, except in terms of his voice on GSC being a lone voice. I raise the issue [here] because twi is such a small fish in a very large ocean. Not only in terms of number of acolytes or followers but also as the ever expanding knowledge of humanity and perhaps also of God and spiritual matters. I now give you an 8 minute video of Yuval Noah Harari, historian and author of Sapiens and a new series of books, Unstoppable Us. -
After refreshing my recollection of some content in The Runaway Species, I realize and recognize Wierwille likely did, in devising the "literal translation according to usage" (or was it the literal interpretation according to Victor's usage) some of the things the authors of this book describe as the creative process. Much of creativity, they say, is more or less putting things together, modifying them.

One thing Wierwille never was: a neuroscientist. From Goodreads.com The Runaway Species: How human creativity remakes the world is a deep-dive into the creative mind, a celebration of the human spirit, and a vision of how humanity can improve our future by understanding and embracing our ability to innovate. Anthony Brandt and David Eagleman rifle through the inventions of human society like paleontologists ransacking the fossil record. Exploring examples from Apollo 13 to Pablo Picasso, they seek to answer the question: what lies at the heart of humanity's ability--and drive--to create? If you took a snapshot of any animal species' behavior, from apes to barnacles, and contrasted it with the same species 10,000 years ago, they'd all be carrying on pretty much as usual (and if they aren't, it's likely due to human influence). Humanity, on the other hand, would be nearly unrecognizable. Above all else, our drive to create is what makes us unique among all living things. Yet where does this all creation, innovation, and change come from? Why us? And if we better understand this -cognitive software-, can we harness it more responsibly to improve our lives, schools, businesses and institutions? Brandt and Eagleman examine hundreds of examples of human creativity through dramatic storytelling and stunning images in this beautiful, full-color volume. By drawing out what creative acts have in common and viewing them through the lens of cutting-edge neuroscience, they uncover the essential elements of this critical human ability, and encourage a more creative future for all of us.

Excellent insight. I think of John 16:33 33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” ----- Resilience means being able to adapt to life's misfortunes and setbacks. Test your resilience level and get tips to build your own resilience. By Mayo Clinic Staff When something goes wrong, do you tend to bounce back or fall apart? When you have resilience, you harness the inner strength that helps you rebound from a setback or challenge, such as a job loss, an illness, a disaster or a loved one's death. If you lack resilience, you might dwell on problems, feel victimized, become overwhelmed or turn to unhealthy coping mechanisms, such as substance abuse, eating disorders or risky behaviors. Resilience won't make your problems go away — but resilience can give you the ability to see past them, find enjoyment in life and better handle stress. If you aren't as resilient as you'd like to be, you can develop and learn skills to become more resilient. Adapting to adversity

Mike, have you ever heard of self-awareness? I expect you have. However, when you waste your time and energy on trying to clarify things like this, you act as if you have never heard of it. Why, you might ask? Because if you've gotten this far and you become aware your point was not understood the way you intended your readers to understand it, it's too late. You might do better by asking if anyone is interested in hearing/reading what you really meant... If nobody responds in the affirmative to such a question, just don't spend your time or energy on it any further. -

Your aspirational desire is dependent on YOUR ability to effectively code the message you want to send in a manner readers could possibly recognize AS your intended message. The likelihood of such success is greatly enhanced when you view your intended audience with love rather than contempt. -

Seriously? If you don't grasp grammar, you can't effectively communicate. You ought to know that by now. -

It's AN example thereof. By no means is the example all encompassing. For the record, writing skills and critical thinking skills go hand in hand. Increase/enhance your writing skills, you're likely to do better w/critical and analytical thought. -

Life chooses stuff for us. But WE choose how we will respond.

You may not have clearly or effectively encoded the message you wanted to convey. Isn't this a topic belonging more appropriately in another forum? -

So what? Are you prepared to change that condition/situation? -
This reflection takes me back to Dacher Keltner's book, The Power Paradox.

And a lot more of his podcasts can be found here.

As if your unrealistic expectations for readers on this topic is to develop and keep their lives focused on what you did 35 years ago? -

Or... do we suffer from emotional pain seeing Mike regurgitate the same bull$hit every day? -

Or do you expect different results trying to be clear this time, than the dozens or hundreds of time people have attempted to get this across to Mike over the previous 20 years? -

Just to be clear, are you suggesting, dear Old Skool, you've never seen this particular issue addressed before on GSC? -
I just saw this meme... and immediately thought of Victor Wierwille.
