Rino, Once again you show your lack of reading comprehension. Bartman was a reference point in time. However, had you ACTUALLY READ what I wrote, you would have noticed that the subject of the sentence was The Cubs. The predicate, or verb (what action did the subject take) was FOLDED. I will refrain from calling YOU a moron.

I went to a FIGHT and a hockey game broke out!!! No, seriously, shouldn't this thread be in a forum called "Keep you eye on the PUCK"? Anyway, I think MSG is a regional sports network, isn't it? I'm out here in Coyote country. But they're hardly worth watching anyway.

I agree that this year's series was not exciting at all. However, when Boston won, it was exciting, because of Boston's history. Off the top of my head, I don't remember much about 2003... oh, yeah, Marlins got in the WS because the Cubs folded after the Steve Bartman incident. I seem to remember that the Angels in 2002 was an enjoyable series (but don't recall any details)... However, 2001 was REALLY a GREAT SERIES. That WAS exciting. And it was more than just Diamondbacks fans who said so back then (though I happen to be a fan and got to go to game 1 at the BOB). I'm with you on that... Heck, the WS used to be such a big deal that day games during the week warranted major attention...

Gongrats Granddaughter... ya done good! Babies are sooooo cool! Hope he stays healthy and sleeps through the night real soon! :)

Indeed 83+79=162 johniam said Cards finished 83-78. Is that not correct?
-
Oops... I knew the 83 wins... and figured the losses as the accountant I used to be... plugging it in with the understanding that the season is 162 games. Ok, that would be 83-79. So, there was a rain out that didn't get made up?

Congrats to the Cards (and Cards fans)... they clearly outplayed the Tigers. Truly an amazing feat for a team that finished the regular season ONE GAME OVER .500
-
Can you believe what's going on now? Well, the Tigers' pitchers might just have the next several months to work on their fielding skills!
-
This might help answer that last one, niKa. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borat and, btw, Borat is scheduled to appear on The Late Show with David Letterman on Monday, Oct 30 (which is my daughter's 17th birthday, not that that matters in this discussion ).

Hey Rhino, How ya feelin now? Good, I hope!

http://www.weather.com/outlook/travel/busi...ourbyhour/STL:9 The weather link is still good and shows 30% chance of showers through midnight St. Louis time... then it increases to 60%. Weather.com expects game time temps to be in the 50s, which is warmer than it was there yesterday... SO, looks like they should be able to play... :)

You mean the result isn't serious? I'm shocked!

They've claimed they'll get the game in tonight... but I can't see how. The game would suck even if it was played. Wait until tomorrow, it's supposed to be clear until late Thursday night (then another storm)... so, game 5(?) might have to go Friday, and then maybe they ditch the day off for travel... it ain't that far from St. Lou to Dee-troit anywho... http://www.weather.com/outlook/travel/busi...ourbyhour/STL:9

Yes, the 2001 WS ended in November (season delayed because of 9/11). And yes, even then it wasn't that cold in NY. During the game last night they said today's weather forecast was for rain all day. Do you think they might postpone till tomorrow?
-
That's because in your (our) youth, the playoffs started about a month earlier...

In 2001, I paid $60 for a seat on the outfield concourse at the BOB for game 1... and that was direct from the box office. I bet it'd be upwards of $100 if it were here this year. Anyway, as to current homerun hitters who got a start in their teens, Andrew Jones comes to mind. We'll see how long he plays... He hit HRs in the WS as a teenager, if I recall correctly. Seems like AlKaline could have kept on going, and going, and going, if he had EVERREADY for a "battery" mate. (I know, he wasn't a pitcher or catcher)

Hey! Goooogle is my LIFE!  But I don't have any guess as to how many Jesus's Loy worshipped!!!... oops, that's the wrong thread....

http://www.baseball-almanac.com/players/pl...php?p=staubru01 and from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rusty_Staub "He and Ty Cobb share the distinction of being the only players to hit home runs before turning 20 years old, and after turning 40 years old." The baseball almanac site has his year by year stats.. And SIMONZELOTES wins the prize!!

And I was just kiddin!!! Of course he pitched a great game. Shoot, what 27 post season innings with ZERO earned runs! I certainly didn't like his cameraman thing last year, but gotta hand it to him, he's doing it quite well this year.
-
Yep, the D-troit Tigers won last night because they (or the Gambler) cheated.

A YANKEE is like a QUICKEE, only he does it by himself!!

They're BAAA-AAAK!! And this is especially for BoSox fans like MStar... What's the definition of a Yankee? (to be revealed later)
