Eagle, that's complete B***S*** on the issue of whether he gets work as an actor, you do know he is a main character in a regular prime time TV program, don't you? On the issue of what he believes, you speak (write) as if you have first hand knowledge. That seems most implausible, as does the accusations you made. The man obviously has personal issues regarding his ex-wife and his daughter. Those issues apparently caused him to make a terrible recorded message for his daughter. THAT much is verifiable. The rest of what YOU said about him is completely irrelevant, besides being implausible. It's good to know your RIGHTEOUS indignation is at full alert there Mr. Miller... For the sake of discussion, I assume you meant that you'd report a domestic violence incident in progress. Is that what you meant? Even though he was not in the same geographic location as his daughter? Me thinks this publicity has (hopefully) a dampening effect on his (tendency?) to express his anger like that... It IS a form of public accountability, after all.

Hey MarkO... we miss you over in the politics forum... and on the subject of this thread... it's obviously dreadful that Baldwin left such a horrible message for his daughter. I can only hope that someday he's able to apologize to her in a way that will be meaningful to her.

Youse guys know that the RedSox-Yankers game is on ESPN (in HD) as we speak (or as I write this). The Sox are wearing HIDEOUS green jerseys... apparently in honor of the Celtics (who, IIRC, stunk this year). But Schilling IS on the mound.

If you have a microwave oven (who doesn't these days?), you can roast garlic in less than a minute and a half! A few years back, my daughter bought me a terra cotta garlic roaster (a small dish like bottom with a bell shaped cover). My favorite way to include garlic is to roast several cloves, chop them up (after roasting) and put the pieces on a pizza right before putting the pizza in the oven. Then I have "toasted roasted garlic"! It's wunnerful!

I will NEVER, if I can help it, EVER purchase any Ford automobile again. In 1986, I purchased a 1983 Escort. It didn't take long for the first trouble to appear. It already had 63K miles on it, but the price was (theoretically) good. I had repeated troubles with the timing chain; problems with the engine cooling system... frequent over heating, even after I put a brand new radiator in it (a front wheel drive car, the radiator fan was driven by an electric fan, NOT by an engine shaft); and the REAL problem -- an electronic ignition device (not related to starting the engine, but with providing the spark to the spark plugs/cylinders). Ford even had what should have been a recall to fix the ignition device, but they did NOT, and the state of California ended up suing Ford (a class action, I believe) to get Ford to deal with this widespread problem. Ford denied, for years, the problem was theirs. The car pretty much died before I got 110K miles on the odometer. I ended up trading the Escort in when I bought a brand spanking new Nissan pickup in 1993 that I STILL drive (it has 182K miles on it) and it still runs just as well as it did when I first drove it off the dealer's lot. Bottom line -- I hate FORD cars. I understand Ford's pickup trucks (like the F-150) are well made. But NOT it's lower end passenger cars (like the Focus, which I've read also has widespread problems). I believe Zshot might know something about the Taurus model. And I wish I knew about Saturns. I see LOTS of them around... they seem to be pretty good cars. Have you checked with Consumer Reports? I understand you can also get a "CarFax" report on a particular unit you might be interested in...

It's a list of SOME former twi musicians, etc. Not all. Ramblin Dan isn't on the list... I'd bet there are others also (who I do not know).

I spent about 6 months in Biloxi... oh, about 34 years ago... (turned 19 while I was there)... but I suspect things don't look much now like they did when I was there....

It IS just a little bit of a consolation... and let's hope HE thinks running for senator is a laughing matter. If he were more along the lines of Bill Bradley, I'd be a little less nervous about his political aspirations. Frankly, I think he likes to express his views, but doubt he'll want to put in the amount of work being a senator will require... especially while his kids are still young. He's always been a bit of a maverick when it comes to speaking out on baseball labor issues. btw, hiway and mstar... if you guys would lend some support over in wRonG's latest tirade about guns I would appreciate it! ;)

Yes, Mstar... I do see what you mean about Red Sox fans... Perhaps Schilling will belong in The Hall (of Fame) simply for the fact that he provided a large part of the team leadership that took the Sox over the top of "the curse"! Not that Schilling was a slacker before that... I mean, HEY... WS 2001 CO-MVP! ;)

As I was the one who first posted it on this thread, let me clarify that it's an exclamation, NOT a literal attribution of credit. I believe the collective "soul" of America, pretty much in unison, regardless of individual beliefs, shares in this heartache, as you expressed.

This man apparently did NOT acquire the weapons LEGALLY. So, there's AT LEAST one other party that must share some responsibility, as the crimes committed in illegally conveying those weapons makes the person, at minimum, an accessory BEFORE the fact... and depending on Virginia state law, may make the weapons provider also legally responsible for felony murder.

Yeah, Beckett got the win... How many people show up for that early of a game?????????? Box score at cbs.sportsline.com says attendance was 35,424. But do THAT many actually show up? I know the Dbacks do (or at least they used to) count all season tickets as having attended, even if no one shows up for a given seat.

Yeah... I too thought it was pretty cool with Aaron and Frank Robinson there... and no, I didn't hear the chants about Bonds. Jon Miller and Joe Morgan had Rachel Robinson (Jackie's widow) in the broadcast booth with them for a few innings... as well as Hammerin Hank and Frank R (one at a time)... and maybe a couple more folks. I was busy and didn't see the entire game.

I don't think so.... since income tax season is wrapping up, it's more like a day of mourning, however! Tonight marks the return of Gonzo. Luis Gonzales, newly of the Dodgers, will patrol left field dressed in Blue instead of his former purple colors (or Dbacks' new color scheme, Sedona Red and Sonoran Sand). Apparently Gonzo's doing well for LA, and will probably be greeted warmly by the Arizona fans tonight.

If I'm not mistaken, the ARE a few GSers here who have some connection with wicca... I recall at least two, but would rather not suggest them by name, in case I would be incorrect.... I've NOT known any wiccans in real life... and I'd be reluctant to personally look into wicca, even though I've heard similar things about wiccans being peaceful, non-aggressive types.
