    Your desk

I can't believe anyone thinks Mstar's desk is actually MESSY! I once saw a doctor's desk that was messier than mine... but I don't think mine is as bad as shell described her colleagues' to be.
  4. In the FWIW dept., Dbacks' rookie pitching hitter sensation, Micah Owings, who batted .333 for the 2007 season wins the NL Pitchers' Silver Slugger award... Micah Owings wins Silver Slugger award MLB.com - silver slugger award history

That's a euphemism for stalking, isn't it?

Then HOW did they have YOU?
  7. Me thinks that's a BIG camp these days!!! HEY, what do you have against Toledo? I spent a year not far from there one very snowy winter!... but that was when A-Rod was a very young child.
  8. Whoever it is seems to be having issues with balance and being able to stand up straight!
  9. Hope you have a mucho HAPPY day, O Zealous One! btw, today would have been J Fred Wilson's b'day as well as someone else we all knew, who is now infamous, at least to people here at the cafe!
  10. Sounds plausible to me. They're gone now anyway. :)
  11. And a half hour later, STILL 3400+ users checking out the GSC. Might have to institute a beeper system for those waiting to be seated at a table, booth or at the counter!
  12. And it never fails to evoke strong feelings!
  13. Might that be Error 404 - Page Not Found?
  14. But it was better than BORSCHT! They did make some good homemade bread, but not often enough.

I was wondering... thought maybe it was COOK. There were other possibilities, but CUTE is probably the best of the C words.

    Excellent question! Looks like fun.
  18. Fantasizing just a little there, hiway? Indeed, I think Girardi's a good manager... he certainly did a good job in FL. Tom, no surprise on that nickname for Arod!
  19. I've also read that Mattingly will likely join Torre. This, of course, is troubling (to this Dbacks fan)... at least the Torre part. Now, IF A-rod goes too... then I saw the Dbacks chances are better... as well all know that A-rod doesn't make teams necessarily "gel" together or improve team "chemistry." Frankly, I can't imagine ANY team that wants to compete for the championship, except MAYBE the BoSox (and only then IF Lowell goes elsewhere in the free agent market), even WANTING him.
  20. Ah... that's what I was hoping!
  21. btw, even though I said NO to difference in the illness, that's not a complete answer and could be misleading if taken alone. Each person who suffers from severe depression may experience a different set of symptoms...
  22. HA! IF there HAD BEEN an internet before I left TWI, I'm sure I would have been one of those rebelious ones checking it out anyway. The last year I was in, a roommate and I bought a PC together, got a loan, for $1,500 for a machine that didn't even have a hard drive. It had two floppy drives and there were SOME local BBS (bulletin board) sites that we could dial up with our modem that probably didn't go faster than 1.2Kbs. I graduated from Arizona State in 1986 (at the ripe old age of 31, thank you very much twi) and barely learned how to work with LOTUS 1-2-3 spreadsheets before I earning that degree in accounting. Left twi only about 3 months after I graduated. and NEVER regretting leaving.
  23. Depression IS real. I've had family history of depression since long before I realized it. I have suffered from it since long before I experienced it acutely enough to HAVE TO acknowledge it. It IS treatable (medically), though for some, it may not go away permanently. Indeed, symptoms often go beyond noticable sadness, and not just in young people. Left untreated, it can cause serious physical/medical problems and to more extreme crises. There are famous, widely recognizable Americans who have experienced severe depression. Many of us have seen public service TV spots done by Mike Wallace (from 60 Minutes) encouraging people to seek treatment rather than ignoring the problem. He beat depression, but NOT by "just snapping out of it." I believe my family history made me susceptible and that long-term stress and emotionally traumatic events brought it on for me. I still deal with it, but have been able to organize my life to minimize stresses and therefore can lead a reasonably normal life. This is simply speculation on my part, but I wouldn't be surprised if a good deal of what many of us experienced from "hard a s s" (abusive) twi leadership corps or non-corps was a result of those persons being ill-prepared to cope with unreasonably high expectations that brought about some degree of depression in those persons. Difference in the illness? NO. Difference in what causes depression to manifest from one person to another? YES.

Yes, I predict that I will neither watch the game nor give a hoot. Baseball's over, it's time to grieve!
