  1. I looked him up too... and thought I had posted his name... but I must have gotten sidetracked when I read rhino's update on Fryar. He definitely got busted for cocaine... time seems to heal (or obscure) things like that too.
  2. Ah yes... I knew it was knife related and involved domestic violence.... otherwise, apparently, my memory was quite fuzzy.
  3. Yes, I'm sure about Fryar. Tony Collins was busted for cocaine. Fryar got arrested for domestic violence... I believe news stories at the time said he attacked his wife with a large kitchen knife. There was also a baseball player... his name escapes me at this time, but he was a utility player for the Oakland A's. He also got busted for cocaine.
  4. I've used it... it works really well. Next time, I'll even print the tickets at home and save more money...
  5. I would never! And pawtucket, why would you take any thing so personal? Gosh... regardless of the reasons, I think it probably was about time those threads were shut down. P.S... I am confident that I am not universally liked, either here or at the WC site... and it really doesn't bother me. I would hope that would be where most folks are in their own lives too...
  6. Scarred? Or scared? I loved having kelp at meals (not just ADV class...). Kelp's a natural source of selenium, an important mineral nutrient. I don't know that sea salt vs regular table salt was a big deal to me. But yes, that junk table stuff was kinda troubling.

    Compassion

Socks, To both of your last two posts, I can only say... YUP, makes sense to me!

    Compassion

Compassion, which is more related to a frame of mind than an action or series of actions, would also preclude the need to always "be right." Godly actions probably result from someone with a compassionate perspective more than from those without compassion. Knowing (now) that legitimate counselors (i.e. licensed practitioners) must go through rigorous training, practical experiences and testing, it amazes me that a ministry could even allow anyone to think that a short course (like the referenced Christian Counseling class) could even come close to being qualified to counsel people in need. And that particular amazement is troubling.

    Compassion

It's hard to be narcissistic when compassion is a major part of one's life. It's also hard to be compassionate when one is narcissistic.

    Compassion

A very interesting reflection Twinky. I left TWI about 22 years ago, but I do remember (vaguely) compassion having been taught, but don't remember who it was that expounded on it. However, it's most obvious that even though it was a subject of some teachings, it was not given the place of prominence that a study of the concept in the bible would have suggested it should. You might find this link helpful (though it clearly is NOT a reference to anything in TWI): International Standard Bible Encyclopedia: compassion An excerpt: " Compassion, literally a feeling with and for others, is a fundamental and distinctive quality of the Biblical conception of God, and to its prominence the world owes more than words can express." Frankly, had compassion been considered as fundamental, it probably would have displaced the obsession with "The Adversary."
  12. A hearty You're Welcome to all... it was my pleasure. even though (and I realize) not all emotions the images evoke will be the good kind of emotions...
  13. A pic from inside Anderson Library... AND... More pics from the WCofE can be found at: More Emporia pics
  14. That was my impression also... :)
  15. I'll disagree. I do not think the conversation was helping anyone. :)
  16. A friend asked me to post this here so all who desired to do so may view it. First is the slideshow, the subject of which stirred up a controversy in this forum mostly because the link posted was not accessible to everyone who wanted to view it. It is a walk down memory lane for many, but some of the photos will not evoke happier emotions, though others of the photos will for many. 6th corps slideshow - Emporia (on youtube) Then there is an explanation, from the owner of the WC site, of his reasons. Take the explanation or leave it, but it sums up the motivations and parameters as and for how he set up the site. Richeson.org -- explanation of the WC site Then talk amongst yourselves as you wish. I do not post this to rub anything in or on anyone, but rather just to make the information available to all who wish to view it.
  17. That's great dialogue... thanks for sharing it. :)
  18. I haven't watched HOUSE, so I can't comment. I don't know what the new NCIS director's character name is... but his "REAL" name is Rocky Carroll. However, I am NOT like him... and I think he's probably intentionally UNlikeable. After reading about the NCIS season finale, I had to figure also that Gibbs is going to get his team back. There are several key characters, but the main reason I got interested the first time I watched (which was after Ziva's predecessor had left) was because of the quirkiness of the personalities. I LOVE Ziva's malaprops... and the obvious chemistry between the team members... a comradery in spite of the fact that they all pick on each other. That might be something we can look for early in the fall season... And I remember Ducky as one of the Men from U.N.C.L.E.... Ilya Kilyakin (or something like that, if the spelling's wrong).
  19. Regarding NCIS, if Tony and Ziva are gone, the show dies... I only started watching Criminal Minds after Patinkin left... I just don't like him... but had watched Paget Brewster in Huff on Showtime.... and liked her.
  20. May 18, 2004 Game recap, Johnson's perfect game It's my understanding that this game was his only no hitter. Wikipedia -- Randy Johnson Accomplishments 10-time All-Star (1990, 1993-95, 1997, 1999, 2000-02, 2004) Led the league in ERA four times (1995, 1999, 2001, 2002) Led the league in strikeouts nine times (1992-95, 1999, 2000-02, 2004) World Series co-MVP (Curt Schilling, 2001) 5 time Cy Young Award winner (1995, 2000-03) Pitched a perfect game against the Atlanta Braves (May 18, 2004) Killed bird with fastball. 21. Excie, I offer these, in the hope that they might help. I apologize if I didn't succeed: Steroids have caused several professional athletes to die way too young. Steroids cause a great deal of harm to the body, ESPECIALLY to adolescents whose bodies still need to finish developing into adulthood. Professional sports, especially Major League Baseball and the National Football League, did not "police" themselves to keep steroids out of their sports. Therefore, the regulator of last resort (the government), had to get involved before MLB and the NFL would get serious about stopping steroid use.
  22. I remember feeling that way when the Big Unit pitched his perfect game in Atlanta a few years ago... Simonzelotes and I were watching the game together that day... it was pretty exciting. Indeed, Francona's right... how can one not cheer for Lester to do those things!
