On the contrary, Doc... I was doing what I was supposed to be doing and it WORKED. I had the heart attack (primarily) because of one risk factor that I have NO control over -- family history. The controllables are responsible for the fact that there was no damage (or minimal at most) to the heart and that I had no chest pain or any other significant symptoms. The fact that I had been working out and then paid attention to the warning signals is -- along with the wonderful doctors and nurses and current medical technology -- is the HOW and WHY I did NOT die. I would respect your work as a dentist, but it appears you took a lesson from that republican doctor/senator (now no longer in office) that thought he could diagnose Terry Schiavo without examining her. I don't accept your diagnosis, thank you. Russert didn't heed the warning signs. Russert also lived a high stress life. I did heed the warning and have forsaken high stress lifestyles (long ago). and I already had lost 90 lbs...

Most definitely. My dad had bypass surgery when he was my age (53) and then died at 66 from heart disease. I also had a younger brother and sister who have each already passed away having succumbed to heart disease. That's why I always knew this was inevitable for me. And it's one of the reasons I worked out regularly. That exercise routine having probably been the single most important factor that made this event nearly without either symptoms or actual damage to the heart. But there was no question from the EKG and the enzyme (tropinin) levels that I had a genuine myocardial infarction.

I don't know about EVERY call... but I can see it being expanded to cover MORE calls (than just HRs) once they get "comfortable" with it.

thanks Jeff, PurpleDays and everyone else... I am chomping at the bit to get back to the gym!!! I'm hopeful that I'll get the OK on Tuesday... I walked a bunch more today than I had in the last two weeks and felt great!!!

Well, the VERDICT is in... and it's not necessarily an editorial assessment of the Osteens' ministry, but the jury says there was NO ASSAULT. Osteen verdict

yup that list of meds is pretty much the same as mine now... glad you're still here! :)
-
btw, Washn'wear, did they give you before and after pics? They did for me and I didn't even know to ask for them... :)

I hope he gets to the hospital in time to witness the birth!!!! Sounds like his priorities are in order... childbirth first, baseball almost first.!!!

I beat you by about two weeks... I had mine on July 26. Only my symptoms were very mild and subtle. When the minor chest discomfort didn't go away overnight, I called the VA and they told me to go to the ER right away... like you, I waited barely a minute before they took me back, took blood and did an EKG. I ALSO don't smoke, rarely drink, do work out regularly (taking a break as ordered by docs, now however) and have lost about 90 pounds over the last 3-4 years. I'm 53. My BP and cholesterol has been under control due to meds... I spent 4 days in the hospital at the end of July so they could give me a 72 hour course of Integralin (heavy duty blood thinner). Day before yesterday, I had the first of two stents implanted. I expect to be able to go back to the gym (but not full speed) next week. In a couple of weeks, I will have the second stent installed... I already feel it's easier to catch my breath... Wash n' wear, I'm so glad you got it taken care of before it was too late!!! I resolved to not ignore the mild symptoms because of Tim Russert. He was working out regularly. He was doing the right things to control his BP and cholesterol. But he died anyway. My family history made this situation inevitable for me... I'm very thankful it's all unfolded for me so well... and I'm VERY thankful for the state of medical technology today!! You can get plastic or metal containers for the nitro pills (at any pharmacy) that you can keep on your key chain... I got a plastic one for 99cents... And I also have to take plavix, 325mg aspirin and a beta blocker... in addition to the other BP and cholesterol meds I already had been taking...

a passed ball tonight by Salty seemed like a pretty routine fast ball.... btw, rumor has it that one of the players to be named later for Adam Dunn will be Micah Owings... I hope not, however, even though Micah's in AAA right now. me too.
-
Golly! btw... on the other site, I have before and after pics of my angiograms from yesterday... :)

The answer is -- Dunn will play RF. Dbacks give up significant defense by playing Dunn ANYWHERE. He went 1-3 with a double, 2BB and 2Ks tonight in a 4-2 win (the Big Unit's 294th win). Dunn came out in the bottom of the 9th in Colorado so Alex Romero (who had been playing RF regularly the last couple of weeks) could provide the defensive edge. At least one of the Rockies' runs would NOT have scored, very likely with Romero in for the rest of the game. However, Dunn puts some spark in the other Dbacks' bats... so far, so good. Are you sure that wasn't a football game? 19-17?
-
Just HOW might Dunn be a good fit for the Dbacks? We have plenty of outfielders who can easily outplay him defensively. So, who sits? I'm still skeptical. We'll just have to wait and see.

Happy B-day Hiway!!!
-
I'd say so... 15 runs today?! Dbacks got off the snide... finally beating the Braves... win 17 for Webb.

Hey!!! Nixon was the one who started the relationship with Communist China!
-
I thought they already did (do), economically speaking... That WAS certainly an impressive opening... I hope you got to watch it in HD... it was truly awe inspiring.
-
I think the best thing at "Dizzyland" is that they have fireworks so often.... :) The "rat house" hahahaha... And Tom... the Dbacks have just lost 3 straight to the Braves... the Dbacks offense took some time off also.  :(

Look... suicide is not passive. It's a conscious act. Wierwille, regardless of his goofy way of explaining life, the world and God, died as a direct result of cancer. Anyone who has had someone close to them die as a result of sickness or injury that sapped all strength from them can grasp this... and can easily understand the ideas of someone losing the will to live and/or ceasing to take in physical nourishment. Are we trying to make a point about his religion or does anyone actually believe wierwille committed suicide?

How sweet of you to notice. I sooooooooo wonder what kind of sweet remark you initially posted then decided to remove.

That would be a "Freeway series"... and at this point, I'm NOT with you on that one! ;)

Across town? When I took my daughter to Disneyland (in 2000), the stadium was only a couple of miles from the "happiest place on earth!"

Geez, Tom, I know you keep talking about how much the stRangers need pitching... but they picked up Dustin Nippert? That's not just "need pitching," that's REALLY desperate for even BAD pitching! Looks like it's garbage time in Baltimore tonight...
