I tend to agree. You agree with a QUESTION?
-
Bottom line -- what is YOUR point? There's always, in the historical record of ANY significant event, going to be more details and issues than can easily be documented or summarized. What of relevance to the issue of religious cults are you presenting or suggesting?

I just finished watching my recording of this documentary (skipping the commercials). My primary impression, based on my experience in TWI and what I've read about how things went after I left, I believe that Wierwille never had a degree of psychopathology, including paranoia, that would have or could have caused a tragedy on the scale of Jonestown. However, the raving maniac that Martindale became, OTOH, if he had remained unrestrained, likely would have ended in some kind of tragic events. The fact that the Allens had the audacity to launch a legal challenge to TWIs unethical and immoral (and unquestionably NOT founded in scripture) practices served to provide that necessary restraint on Martindale. Without question, many people suffered various degrees of harm because of what did take place, but I'm most thankful that it never got worse, or as bad as it could and would have without TWI having been effectively challenged when it was by the Allens.

Not much I can do about that....

What do you need?

Or maybe you just view it differently than (almost) everyone else has...

Ya know folks... THIS forum isn't necessarily a democracy. I know that Pawtucket listens to other view points besides his own, but it IS HIS WEBSITE. There have been times when I have needed to accept that position. What would be the problem with suggesting White Dove accept that Pawtucket owns the place and can give direction as he sees fit. Like Mstar pointed out... it was polite and gracious. Why would ANYone have a problem with THAT?

It's due to premier on Sunday... I'm pretty sure MSNBC intends to run it many times. including 4 times on Saturday Nov 15

And I love your post. Wonderful insight. And apparently any fear and indecision you may have had wasn't overwhelmingly deep. In addition to what you said, I saw a man with vision that hasn't been articulated so well since Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I have a dream" speech. That vision has made him immensely qualified. And thankfully, he will not have to do all the work -- necessary for there to be a hopeful future -- by himself.

Even the popular vote was more decisive than it has been... definitely a bigger margin than Bush had either time... 52-46 percent... and 364-173 is better than 2 to 1 electoral vote margin... that, to me seems VERY convincing... Clinton had bigger margins in 1996, but Bush was nowhere close to Obama's margins in either 2000 or 2004.

No, it won't change who he is... nor will it change who he is NOT. Two words for you: COPING and STRATEGY... it's going to be just fine, even for you.

It's a good start! :)

I did not... but YOU misspelled two out of three of them... You could take a lesson in graciousness from Sen. McCain.
