"Pee Wee's Playhouse" that would make it my turn, then.I'll get to it a little later.

I don't know if that phrase verbatim was ever said, but certainly many variations on it. They seemed to be oblivious to the sexual innuendos. He would have been called 'gopher' or something if they were worried about it.

I'm not sure why you think the ladies won't get it, since she's a beautiful woman. I don't know much about her off screen life except a vague recollection that she had serious psychological problems later in life, and that she seemed to disappear from films before she got 'old'. If the TCM guy says she didn't 'have it' off screen, I'd be inclined to take his word, as I respect his viewpoints.

those amoebic wow creatures disturbed me during wow training in '76. The weird drawings, the 'gee golly, God is blessing us as we live with no furniture, and rationing food, and working at the local fast food joint.' Of course it was too late by then, and I managed to find excitement in the idea of being sent somewhere I'd never been, and in the mystery of who the heck I'd be living with. I could have given a hoot about moving the word over the the city. But those happy little wow creatures-they still give me cgills. I mean chills

I'm going to guess it's from "This Side of Paradise"-before Spock gets 'spored'

oops sorry about the double post

I would have guessed Amanda also, especially in tribute to Jane Wyatt. One would think it's a McCoy quote, but I'm guessing it's from somewhere else. No need to apologize for the pm, pawnbroker-I just thought I could answer it in public. I would have guessed Amanda also, especially in tribute to Jane Wyatt. it will be talked about, and talked about, and talked about you could dip the ball in pine tar, and carve your initials in it, and still wouldn't get those results. gotta give the man his due. up until a certain time that I can't remember, they tried to use one ball in the game. I can only imagine what deformities those balls featured. didn't stop Ty Cobb, Josh Gibson, or the Babe.

I know that pawnbroker knows this one and am declaring him the winner. In response to a 'rules' question-which we're making up as we go along really, yes-even though this episode was used recently, no reason why one can't use it again. your turn pawnbroker-just mention the answer for the folks first though.

"A Piece of the Action"-Kirk and Spock are 'duping' the mobster guard with a fake card game. I can't remember if it was one of Bella Oxnyx's boys, or Krakos. dopey episode , but fun . Kirk driving, the gangster lingo, etc. They threw out the prime directive and the importance of it for the sake of a dumb joke at the end though. since I'm certain I got it... "We've got phasers...I vote we blast 'em !"

a goodbye to Jane Wyatt, who just passed at 95 or so. She was one classy tv mom on 'Father Knows Best', and a fitting mother for Spock, among many other film roles. I think she even one more than 1 emmy for Father Knows best. In the age of memorable tv moms, that was saying something.

It always amuses me when fans so identify with a team that they think THEY have won or lost something. At best, you root for your team and it makes you feel good when they win, and bad when they lose. Fan has nothing to do with it, even with the '10th man' home field advantage . If your team loses, those guys are still pocketing their millions, and taking the winter off, while we show up at our crummy jobs. If your team wins, you get to 'rub it in' for a day or two, while you're still going back to your crummy job. Am I sounding too cynical ? probably Hey, I had a fun season. Went to more Dodger games than I could count. Saw some great games including Nomar's bottom of the 9th grand slam in the last home game, and attended my first playoff game ever. I dumped ALOT of money at Chavez Ravine, and it was worth it for the entertainment. I just don't get that emotionally involved anymore. I'd rather take credit or blame for something I was responsible for. When the Dodgers tanked in the playoffs, it felt bad, but I was over it by the time I got home. I think the Tigers will 'show up' but who knows ? And if they don't it's no skin off my back. I would like a fun, 7 game series though. With a Tiger win in the last game. your baseball curmudgeon, signing off

no-but in a way it may as well be, as some of the Q episodes blur for me. right Q, wrong episode though.

The Corbomite Manuever-Balok (actually little Clint Howard, already weird looking) "you're so stolid-you weren't like that before the beard"

wow that's a rarity-for years, she refused to make public appearances, just to avoid being photographed. she had no reason to hide-she looks great there

I found lots of kindness among the' rank and file'. How many got involved solely on the accuracy of da word ? The warmth and caring of the people is what initially made it attractive, and something to want to be a part of. The higher up the tree one got, the more qualities like kindness became squelched. To be 'kind' was to be a 'wimp'. You want to show kindness? Confont them with the Word. As the years rolled on, and the hard nosed, confrontational lifestyle began to dominate, being kind almost became an underground act, so the local branch or limb leader wouldn't find out you were being 'wussy' with people.

In the playoffs, to once again quote Yogi, you don't know nothing. Kenny Rogers is not suddenly Roger Clemens, but he sure looks likes it right now. Huge hitters like Frank Thomas, to of course, everyone's favorite Arod ,tank. 'Little' guys suddenly get key hits, whole games hinge on a speared line drive, or unexpected strike out. predicting baseball seems to be especially improbable compared to other sports. The clear favorites in football of basketball usually win, but baseball is dependant on a pitcher having a good day-or throwing the right pitch at the right time, and even the greatest hitters fail 7 out of 10 times. I like this matchup-2 'classic' teams, that by the way had horrible records in their last 50 games. Being an American Leaguer by nature, I'm rooting for the Tigers, but I'm just going to enjoy the games whoever wins.

That picture looks like an actress playing Betty page, not Betty Page herself. While I wouldn't 'defend' her 'modeling' career, I have read her life story and know that for whatever reasons she got into it, she got out as soon as she could. She enrolled in some Bible college afterwards, and dropped out of sight. She also was in a mental institution at some point, but I forget the details. When her old photos became wildly popular in a 'retro 50's' way, she emreged from obscurity, but remains adamant in not being photographed as an elderly woman. There is a 'sweetness' about her that is missing in the picture above. Betty never looked that 'cold'.

First Duty it is my vote for worst episode is 'Requiem for Methuselah" It's not the stupidest, or most far fetched , but it typified everything wrong with 3rd season Trek. Kirk lands on a planet and immediately falls in love with a hot blonde Nothing new there, but in the meantime, the Enterprise is shrunk and dangling from 'Methuselah's hand like a piece of jewelry. So with over 400 people he's responsible for in this dire situation, Kirk is wholly consumed with fighting this guy over this woman he's known for about 2 hours. 'In the Corbomite Manuever, Kirk tells McCoy he already has a woman to worry about, her name is the Enterprise. Not any more. He's at least ashamed of himself at the end. McCoy then lambasts Spock, defending Kirk's actions because, well, that's what real men do, sacrifice all to get their rocks off. Spock, in a move to show his 'humanity' mind melds with Kirk to make him forget. He should have made him remember what he said in the Corbomite Manuever. ok I've got that off my chest. It's shows like that that make some of the original series unwatchable for me.

another good guess-but not 'Family' I really like 'Family' thou-a nice 'rest' episode following the harrowing Borg invasion The quote was given by a 'martian' from Picard's past.
-
That's a good guess, but it's not that episode. another clue-the line is spoken on earth if that doesn't help, I'll make the next clue obvious George's choice of 2 worst episodes is hard to argue with, so I won't, as I mostly agree. They were certainly the most ridiculous (along with season 2,s 'I, Mudd" Star Trek 5 is amazingly awful I have other choices for 'worst' episode based on other criteria, but that's another discussion

it is a NG episode though
-
nope-not 'Tapestry'

ha-great quote "The Way to Eden"-space hippies on a quest for the paradise planet where they can groove to their heart's content 'Herbert' being a deragatory term for straight laced, rigid, estblishment types. Kirk was 'Herbert' Spock was not. This was a really stupid 3rd season episode, that is so much fun that I tend to cut it some slack. The original story was intended to be called 'Joanna'-, dealing with Dr McCoy and his estranged daughter. The 3rd season producers balked, saying that Kirk and McCoy should be presented as similar in age, so McCoy could not have a daughter that old. "What happened to your hair?" oops sorry about the double post
