  1. "Alice"-and I'm sure it was said in the spin-off 'Flo" can't post a new one until tomorrow though. Anyone is welcome to take it.
  2. drifting through high school, working at a local hamburger drive thru, smoking way too many legal and illegal substances, and wondering what it's all about.
  3. "Are you wearing some unusual kind of perfume, or something radioactive , my dear "?
  4. That's the last episode from TOS-Kirk 's body switched with a woman from his past who takes his place as Captain. One of the all time over the top performances by Shatner, in a good example of why the 3rd season was awful. oh man-now I've got to come up with a quote. I'll get back to it. 'Turnabout Intruder'-that was it's name
  5. I did the colon cleanse after much promotion by the homeopathic wing of the way. I can't claim a connection, but within a few months of doing it (which certainly felt like I was abusing my body), I came down with ulcerative colitis, an intestinal disease involving chronic bleeding, diarhea, abdominal pain and other pleasantries. The only 'cure' is surgery, removal of the colon, which I finally decided on after 8 years of suffering. That was in '93, and the results have been great-a total new lease on life. I do wonder what the 'cleanse' contributed to it. It was a miserable experience, drinking 'dirt', eating nothing but 'green life' pills, and living in a daze for days from lack of food.
  6. "Keys to Research" was certainly the most boring-the first major group reaming out I can recall came as a result of everyone falling asleep. We get screamed at for quite some time after the break for not being into it enough. but the class I hated the most was 'blessings of liberty' taught by the way's favorite poitician Hayes Gahagan (whatever happened to him?) As politically naive and easily swayed as I was at the time,it suddenly hit me how we were being grooved to be good right wing conservatives (except for abortion rights of course) We're not a democracy-that's MOB RULE. We're a REPUBLIC dammit!
  7. SNL has been on for 32 years ! That's just crazy. It just dawned on me that I haven't really watched it for about 18 years.
  8. I'm going to read the book , hopefully without any pre hype about what's in it. There is very little that one can just enjoy and be pleasantly surprised by in popular culture. Especially when it comes to sequels in film. Harry Potter is that rare breed. An actual BOOK that creates more buzz than Star Wars. I'm looking forward to the next book as much as anyone. I understand the fun in trying to guess what will happen, and exploring the world and the characters, but prefer to avoid the mountain of fan sites, blogs, etc. Do you REALLY want to know what's going to happen?
  9. I've said my piece on JD Drew already. He does have talent though, and who knows, maybe he'll find himself in Fenway. He was the most invisible 'star' the Dodgers ever had-and that's saying alot. I've heard noone, no fan, reporter, teammate, anyone, say one word about missing him. The Dodgers were all set to keep him and let Nomar go, which was as irrational an idea as I've heard here-and that's saying alot. I 'predict' JD will start off with a bang, then gradually fade into obscurity-assuming he's healthy enough to play. Sometimes he didn't play for mysterious health reasons. The Sox better hope JD and Manny don't have "I can't play todayitis" on the same day. I doubt that "JD being JD" will fly like "Manny being Manny" seems to. hmm I just said another piece on JD. Sorry-guess I got carried away.
  10. That was the show I was thinking of Sudo. He wasn't 'slumming' so much as 'spreading his wings' a little in a valiant effort to produce a one of a kind tv show. If you don't mind a personal story-One of the first episodes had a story about an aircraft gunner in WW11 who's dream was to work for Walt Disney . He gets trapped in the plane when the landing gear goes out. he saves them by drawing a Disney like version of his plane, but with big cartoon like wheels, that suddenly appear on the real plane (I didn't say it made SENSE). When they landed his drawings opened the door for him to get hired by Uncle Walt himself. I was sitting in a little apt in St Marys watching that, thinking about similar dreams , and wondering how i was ever going to realize them. It seemed as impossible as the guy in the show. I could not have imagined that 10 years later it would come true, and I sometimes think about that show and the night I saw it. I'll refrain from any 'being careful what you wish for' comments though.
  11. That was a cool voice over from David Hedison promoting VTBOS. That would put the year around '65 (or later)-when Beany and Cecil were not in production, but still part of the ABC Saturday morning line up in re runs. "Voyage" was actually an apt choice for a promo. Like all Irwin Allen shows, it started off somewhat serious, then devolved into a 'monster of the week' show. By it's 3rd season, the show was aimed almost at the age group that watched Beany, with undersea monsters that Cecil would have been right at home with if he wasn't so nice.
  12. "Beany and Cecil'. was originally a TV puppet show in the late 40's, created by animator Bob Clampett. It was extremely popular with adults as well as kids. Clampett resurrected it in the early 60's as a Saturday morning cartoon show. While it was on for several years, it was only in actual production for a couple of years. I never had the Beany copter, but I did have a talking Cecil the Seasick Sea Serpent. When you pulled the string it would say such things as "I"m coming, Beany Boy", and "D J you dirty guy!"
  13. I'm definately midlife, and glasses haven't helped.
  14. Thank you George-it was the Monkees. The 'bird brain' line was from the pilot episode. It was Peter's 'introduction', with Micky dragging him by the collar.Peter was designed to be the 'dumb' Monkee in the beginning, which is interesting in that the other's real life personalities pretty much became their show character's, while Peter remained 'dumb'-though 'evolving' into a stoned hippie type dumb.
  15. no-there are more Peter's than I thought. Hey, Hey
  16. I guess I've derailed this thread. I could add more examples, but really, how many shows with 'Peter' are there anyway ?
  17. Thanks for that, Sudo. I love that song and them. I just read a book called 'Laurel Canyon' which tells about life in said canyon in the 60's when that group, Joni Mitchell, Crosby Stills, Nash, Jackson Browne, and many others lived in that world just minutes from the heart of Los Angeles. I drive through there a few times a month, and the otherworldy quality still resonates. Of course much can be said about the destructiveness which eventually darkened the 'utopia' based on drugs, ego and human foibles, but those times and people produced the most wonderful music.
  18. "So this is the world of televison" "That's funny. It doesn't look like a vast wasteland" "I wanna help her" "Sure you do. I want to help Peter too. But I can't, He's a bird brain."
  19. "So this is the world of television" "That's funny. It doesn't look like a vast wasteland."
