  1. I don't get the connection between having money and involvement in here at all. What does one have to do with another ? Still, that's what Johnny said, so I suppose it means something to him. I also don't get it when people announce that they're 'leaving'. Are they fishing for messages to see who will miss them, and tell them how wonderful they are ? Maybe it's the closest thing available to attending one's own funeral.
  2. I've commented extensively here on my love for Vinny, and am restraining myself from adding on. I'm appreciating him while we've got him.
  3. the tv series the singer was in ? Let's just say it featured "the Stones" long before Mick Jagger Her mother in the show would say it's a wonderful life. Her father would later be a tv lawyer. Her brother was a former Mouseketeer, and when the singer left the show, they brought in his real life little sister to take her place. I never quite figured that show out. I watched it for years without thinking it very funny, nor really liking the characters that much. But I watched it every friggin Wednesday night.
  4. It makes total sense for the Dodgers to train in Arizona. LA folks will flock to games there, and it's a shorter trip to the big park for the team. There is a Dodgertown tradition that is unique, which is the main reason they stayed so long. It's a nice complex with everything at their fingertips, in a setting that fits te 'Dodger image',if you will. They can build a new one in Arizona, and just move the 'Vin Scully drive' sign cross country. Still, any change in baseball is a mixed bag, and the end of Dodgertown is kinda sad.
  5. A friend at work is vacationing near Dodgertown in March. He wanted to experience it before the Dodgers pull up stakes in Florida, and move spring training to Arizona. He'll be seeing some games there, and travelling around to a few other parks, including the Bosox. All games in the Yankees park in Tampa are sold out, which is amazing to me. I've never been a big spring training guy, outside of the anticipation that opening day is coming. The games are dull, though you're glad they're here. I was at 1 Yankee spring training game as a lad, so long ago that Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris were playing. My uncle was an engineer in Florida who helped design the spring training park, and took me. We had seats right behind home plate, but I remember the place as only being half full at best. It's getting closer. I'm so ready.
  6. someday I'll learn how to post pics so I can play
  7. A tasty list of foods. Basically everything I loved as a kid and am not supposed to eat at 50 wrestling with the evils of bad carbs. Is there some way to mix in a few vegetables ?
  8. It was a pretty good Super Bowl. Not a bad game, ate some good unhealthy food, had a couple beers. Now that's over with- LET'S PLAY BALL !!!
  9. sorry wordwolf-you're right it was Mudd's Women-as you knew

    Super Bowl Ads

The theme this year seem to be pain and abuse. I'm finding most of the ads tedious. I did like the Chevy ad with the various songs through the years.
  11. I used to watch him for the comedy. The way he berated his followers and demanded money was very way-like. After ordering you to get on the phone and spend money, they would cut to film of the Dr riding bikes or horses with ultra-hot women in the skimpiest of outfits. One could only be impressed with the teaching because how the heck are you going to refute any of it. The massively scribbled on boards with all kinds of greek words , usages, tenses, and whatnot were nothing if not mind staggering. None of it made a bit of sense to me , but one had to stand in awe for the 'accuracy' of the word-again-very way-like. The man was a cartoon, with delusions of grandeur that at least equaled if not surpassed VPW. Now that he's gone, his wife-a many years younger woman who used to sing between teachings, has taken up the mantle, and is one of the worst teachers I've ever heard. She must be trying to keep up the air of no nonsense, and authority that Scott did, but she can't pull it off. They're smart to mix in old videos of Scott instead of relying just on her to carry it all. I wouldn't have joined that outfit for a million dollars. A sad sad organization if ever there was one.
  12. I couldn't have connected that Jenilee Harrison pic with her 3's Company character-and I've never seen her in anything else and I never saw 'Prison Break' that was fun
  13. it just occurred to me that the blonde could be Cheryl Ladd who replaced Farrah Fawcett on Charlies Angels-one of many replacements
  14. oh-that's easy the actors in the first group played the same character they replaced Noel Neill replaced Phyllis Coates as Lois Lane (Though Noel had already played Lois in 2 Superman serials) and the pic is from her cameo in the Chris Reeve Superman movie I'm embaressed to admit I don't remember the second name (Lori Saunders ?) but she loks like one of the Petticoat Junction Jo's. Dick Sargeant lamely replaced Dick York as Darrin on Bewitched I'm really perplexed on who the next guy is Meredith MaCrae replaced whats her name (Gunilla Hutton?) as the blonde Jo on Petticoat Junction (you can tell I don't know my Petticoat Junctions the second group replaced characters with new characters I don't know why I can't place the first sultry blonde June Lockhart replaced Bea Benederet on Petticoat Junction, though the pic is from 'Lost in Space' Bea Benederet was 'Kate' and June was a Dr something June Lockhart also replaced Cloris leachman on "Lassie" as Timmy's mother William Demerest as 'Uncle Charly" replaced William Frawley as 'Bub" on 'My 3 Sons" Barry Livingston as "Ernie" replaced Tim Considine as "Mike" on "My 3 Sons" Ken Berry as "Sam" replaced Andy Griffith as 'Andy"-though technically it was the whole show that was replaced as the 'Andy Griffith Show' became 'Mayberry RFD'
  15. most of those people took the place of other actors on tv series, but I don't know if that's what you're going for.
  16. yes-a very little 'shot' if y'all want to play a game picking the the Yankees demise, then a little jab at the Sox isn't out of order
  17. yes-in a tie breaker with the Blue Jays
  18. right, Tom. The Bat-Cave had a huge atomic pile, powering all the Bat-junk. I'm sure it would have made the good people of Gotham City comfortable had they known.
  19. good guess, but no right time frame and 'intelligence' level though
  20. "Stop fiddling with that atomic pile and come down here"
  21. I really do need to get to Yankee Stadium-thanks for the reminder. I do fear 'culture shock' after years of 'mellowing out' at Dodger Stadium.
  22. No Yankees clock ? I'm realizing that it's finally happened. I'm so immersed in Dodgertown that I would have to call myself a Dodger 'fan' more than a Yankee 'fan'. I will always root for the Yanks-you can't take the little boy loyalties lightly, but I just don'thave the daily involvement with them being on the far coast. I've been won over out here-but it's more because of the Stadium , the fans, and the ambience, than for any love of the team itself. The long hard winter will soon be over, and I'll once again be able to spend my evenings kicking back in good 'ol Chavez Ravine. I will be avoiding the 'all you can eat' right field pavilion however.
  23. nope- "that shouldn't happen. She shouldn't make my scanners go 'bleep'"
