hi-I've been out of town -in Arizona actually-for the past week. I'm checking in from a motel, and haven't connected the photos yet! I'll be back in my own digs soon and will ferret it out then. having a heck of a good time by the way.

I thought of mstar and Fenway as I was ranting, and agree that things are alot worse in old metropolitan parks. That's part of the price paid for maintaining Fenway, (and Wrigley). The Dodger Stadium lot has functioned quite well for over 40 years. It is now a burden where one didn't exist.

The only DJ's I know are on 'Full House' and 'Beany and Cecil'. ( "DJ you dirty guy !" DJ being short for Dishonest John.) I think it's safe to say it's not Beany, so I'd guess Wordwolf is right.

Gagne was good for a couple of years. The following is just me griping about something somewhat trivial, but if I can't gripe here about baseball junk here, where can I ? Baseball owners never cease to amaze me. Frank McCourt, Dodgers owner, has decided to 'improve' the parking lot, by having people direct you to a specified spot. There are several entrances to Chavez Ravine, and now you have to park and exit from the entrance you came in. Oh, and he's raised the parking fee from 10 to 15 bucks for the privilege. It now costs more to park than many seats. This only screws up thousands of fans who know exactly where , when and how to park. I always knew if I got to the park a little early, I could find a spot that made for an easy exit. Those spots were at a different gate than where I entered, as there is no simple way of going home from the gate I enter. Now I'll be herded wherever they attendant tells me to go, and hope I don't get stuck in the jam later. I'm also sure the senior citizens and those who can't walk well will love parking in the outer lots that are really some distance away, or climb the several steep inclines depending on where your seat is. Oh-and if your gate section is filled, they won't let you enter the park. You'll have to drive around to another gate and hope they will let you in. I guess McCourt never heard of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Actually I'd be ok paying an extra 5 bucks if they'd clean up all the broken glass in the parking lot. I've seen the same broken beer bottles sit for entire seasons. Dodging broken glass is part of the process, and I'm going to make sure some attendant doesn't steer me over a broken bottle. I know there are more important things to complain about. I'll get over it.

I like the ad for tapeworms. Has to be more effective than slim-fast.

I don't see how we can possibly even think we might be getting 'more sophisticated' about who runs this country after voting Bush in twice, but I do agree that race and gender is not a factor for most . I can only hope that it's alot of most, not a 51 % most.

Opening Day is less than week away, and it's dead as a doornail in here. What does it mean ? And what does 'dead as a doornail' mean ?

One of the joys of listening to Vin Scully, is that he doesn't work with an analyst or 'color' person. It's just you , Vin, and the game, minus the endless 'banter' that is now the norm. Vin knows when to speak, and just as important, when not to. Not that there aren't good broadcast teams. I always enjoy John Miller and Joe Morgan. I'm sure there are others , but usually there is at least one commentator who never shuts up, speaks in cliches, and seems to be trying too hard. One week from opening day. Best time of year. Spring, baseball, and all is right with the world .

That is some nice ballpark. It's a far cry from old Quigley Field in West Haven, CT, where I used to see AA games. That joint had patchy grass, rocks in the infield, and bleachers that produced nasty splinters. The Loons park looks awesome. I also dig the uniforms, and the goofy Loon mascot. I'm ordering a shirt. Meanwhile, I've got tickets for 2 games during the Dodgers first homestand. I'm needing ball and a Dodger Dog. Speaking of Dodger Dogs, I can't wait to see what goes on in the new 'all you can eat' right field pavilion at Dodger Stadium. I can only imagine the spectacle as they make sure they get their money's worth and pounding down 10 dogs, nachos and cokes.

yikes actually they don't look that much older than they did 20 years ago when they did the 'Still the Beaver' TV series. Jerry mathers has lost alot of weight and is probably healthier, but he still lost his acting chops as soon as he hit puberty.

Happy Birthday Kathy! You make this joint a better place.

I know what you mean griffp. I'm weary of the Yanks -Sox hype too, but as has been discussed in here, it's gotten alot of juice from ESPN in recent years. I'm an American Leaguer at heart, even though I spend a ridiculous amount of time at Dodger Stadium, since I moved nearby. I grew up a die hard Yankee fan from '61 on. The world revolved around the Yankees until I moved around the country and spread my baseball 'wings'. The old Yankee loyalties are still ingrained though. You were there for the huge Yankee collapse starting in '65. I lived my most 'fannish' young years with the WORST Yankee teams of all time, and never had the sense of 'entitlement' that some fans seem to have. I KNOW how bad they can be.

I'm a 'normal baseball fan'? I guess that means because I don't 'bleed Dodger Blue', or 'Bronx pinstripes', or belong to any 'nation'. I only attend 25-30 major league games a year, walk to the park to watch Little League, get wrapped up in the Royals vs the Devil Rays if ESPN is crazy enough to air it, and believe Vin Scully is our greatest American. Yeah, I'm real normal. Bowie Kuhn was mostly a disgrace, but I don't have the time or energy to get into it right now.

hey mstar, you have a friend.

I was working with Taylor O at the time, and animated the amoeba with him. Since I wasn't in the corps I was nameless and faceless, and I'd be more than happy to give Taylor all the 'credit' for it, but I spent too many hours drawing, painting, and hanging animation cels up to dry. In a way it was quite a feat for pre computer animation done on a shoestring budget. -
Only 5 pics showed up, so I'm not sure where the 6th would fall in, and I can't place number 5. The top 4 were once the Beaver, the Menace, the brat Partridge, and Wednesday.

I'm looking forward to seeing the gear. I might need to get a shirt. Minor League Baseball is great fun.

Not that I enjoy reliving this episode from the 70's, but I was 'caught' with a Playboy magazine, that is, it was found while my favorite 'leader' decided to go through my dresser drawer and closet to see what's doing. I was called on the carpet in front of 5 others, and read the riot act about devil spirit infiltration, and this explained why I wasn't doing the Word. This incident was on the heels of a day when I decided to visit my parents rather than go door to door witnessing, which sent up smoke signals to the leader, who decided my personal belongings must be investigated to root out the cause of this crime against God. I had to sit there while they tore the magazine up and fed it to the fire. I was then put on a probation of sorts, with 'assignments' to study the Bible after work every day until twig time, on top of the utter humiliation of the whole event. This was but one event in a 2 year 'beating' I found myself on the receiving end of, but that's another story.

I know my blah blah blah can short circuit things, but it's your turn Wordwolf.

You think you're embarrassed? I was one of the guys who animated the pulsating 'blob', that was supposed to be the 'adversary'. -
Yes, it's Maverick. The movie is nowhere near as entertaining as the series was. The original series that is, not the 80's 'Bret Maverick'. It was nice in the Gibson film that James Garner turned out to be Pappy. Garner did play Pappy once in the original series in a dual role, though the character was more effective when being referred to, without seeing him.

"As my old Pappy used to say, work is fine for killing time, but it's a shaky way to make a living."
