  1. you heard right , Tom I'll report on the continuing adventures after the game tomorrow
  2. tons-the LA Times is filed with angry letters, and the local sports radio stations are all over it this of course means nothing to the powers that be
  3. That ring's not magic. it's based on sound scientific principles. Green energy housed in a giant power battery on Oa, which is overseen by identical little blue men called the Guardians. The power is stored in lanterns which power the rings, so the wearers can create giant boxing gloves, drills, or anything they can think of. Magic? Why that would be just impossible.
  4. Well, I went to Dodger Stadium last night. I entered the same gate I have for the last 10 years, but was immediately herded left instead of right as I always did. I was brought completely around to the back of the stadium, as far from my seat as possible. The attendants were clearly weary of complaints, as they just shut people down as they yelled at them. And there was a lot of yelling. I'm not sure Frank McCourt understands that people are entering the game in a foul mood, to say nothing of the people on CRUTCHES I passed who had to walk the extra football field to get to their seat. With the Dodgers leading 9-1 in the 8th, I decided to not test how long it would take to get out so I left-along with the more than usual early departures. It's always been a joke how people leave Dodger games early-now it's almost imperative to leave unless you have an extra hour to spend in the parking lot. I'm going again tomorrow. My brother and family are in from out of town, and have never been to a major league game. I'm going to hold my tongue, and hope for the best. It's also Jackie Robinson Day, which may mean even more crowds. I'm going early, and expecting to get home late.
  5. How about they're all from Illinois.
  6. I'd be hard pressed to recall ANY 'leader' apologizing for anything. The ManofGod, is never wrong, even when He makes a 'mistake'. If the peon believers were only walking in harmony, they would know to follow His directives without question, even if it is wrong you will still be 'blessed' for 'doing the Word'. I have to say that there were some corps that I knew, that were honorable and human, and could I could relate to on a real, 'human' level. But even among those, it was usually in the context of a personal relationship. When push came to shove in official way settings, it was imperative that they were NEVER wrong. I know I apologized more in my way years, than I have in the rest of my life combined. Usually for forgetting some detail like dust on the shelf, or taking the blame for someone not showing up for a class.
  7. ah-it came to me suddenly they're all into Scientology !
  8. wow 0 for 4 I can't tell celebrities by their pictures anymore obviously. And I've even worked with Nancy Cartwright ! What the connection is ,is beyond me, unless it's got something to do with cartoon voices.
  9. This one has me puzzled. Looks like Christina Applegate, Chastity Bono, Melissa Gilbert, and I can't place the guy playing guitar. I'm not even sure I have the other ones right. Unless that's Duane Allman, who was married to Cher ( though Chastity was Sonny's daughter) I'm stumped
  10. now you're asking me to explain Frank McCourt-and I can't begin to do that. You'd think if he knew anything it would be parking lots
  11. His name is Ichiro Ichiro Ichiro Ichiro
  12. hope George doesn't mind me speaking for him- Yes-Lex Luthor Very good, Kathy.
  13. So far, the new Dodger parking lot system has been a total disaster. It took hours to clear the stadium on opening day. A good number of the newly hired parking attendants left their posts when they tired of people yelling at them. Even Vin Scully was stuck in the mess, and class guy that he is, refused offers to let him bypass the jam. The Union 76 gas station, a staple at Dodger Stadium since it's opening, did a fraction of it's usual business, since cars are now herded, and you can't go off the system to get gas. The owner is already predicting he'll have to close. Stadium workers now have to park outside the Stadium. There is a shuttle bus for the workers (not the fans), that quit because they couldn't fight the traffic jam, causing the vendors, ushers, and janitors to walk a looong way. Many of these people are senior citizens and one woman fell and passed out before she could get to her car. Owner Frank McCourt is not to be found. He didn't even show at his seat for the second game, leaving his wife to 'take the bullet' as she puts it. Of course, they refuse to change, and now it's a power play between the fans and the owners as to who will give in. I'm going to the game on Friday. Never have I had to worry about what goes on outside the park until now. I'll post a report, if I ever get back.
  14. This one is easy for me, but I think the pictures chosen will make it difficult to put together. In general, picture them bald.
  15. It's been a long time, but I recall VP stating that he didn't originate much of what he taught, EXCEPT- his research in the holy spirit field. Of course, this just makes everything else he teaches that much more important, because it is now corraborated by God, who is teaching Vic the Word as it has not been known from the first century. All of the stuff he 'borrowed' was good-pieces to the puzzle that he is now putting together. But his teaching was 'best', because of the spirit (Spirit?) working with in him. No one had it right until him. Even those leading people to tongues couldn't explain it or teach it like VP.
  16. oh man-I mistook Warren Beatty for George Hamilton. They look the same to me these days. I'm really losing it.
  17. I was going to guess that-but I was thrown by George Hamilton. I didn't think he could do anything but tan. I was going to guess that-but I was thrown by George Hamilton. I didn't think he could do anything but tan.
  18. I thought it was Shatner related, but I woulda never gotten Tek War, did not recognize Doug McClure, and have only seen Boston Legal once, so it didn't connect. A most humbling experience.
  19. the Stooges made for tv movie is filled with half truths and fantasies, though it was well cast, and has merits. Shemp took over for Curly. Joe Besser was years away. Joe DeRita WAS a Columbia 'stock' comedian from burlesque, who would certainly fit in and been considered-but he was definately no Shemp, either in talent or Howard and Stooge family ties. The first person Moe considered after Curly was Mousie Garner, another old burlesque comic who had worked with Ted Healy, as had the Stooges. When Shemp agreed to come back, it was no contest, though the Columbia chiefs thought he looked and sounded too much like Moe. When Shemp died in the mid-50's ( and the Stooges made several macabre 'dead-Shemp' shorts, with a Shemp stand in), Joe Besser took his place. Besser never wanted to be a Stooge and it showed. He opted out when the Stooge contract ended. By then the Stooge tv revivl happened and suddenly they were hot again. Joe DeRita was still a Columbia player, and was right for the time, though I've yet to discern what his comedy style really was. By this time the Stooges were older and slowing down, and he did look the part. That's enough Stooge history for now. I'm still stumped on those pictures .
  20. I walked up to the 'haunted hotel' and talked with the women behind the desk for awhile. I heard a few of the ghost stories . It's a unique place sitting on top of the hill. Used to be a hospital. Had the best hamburger in memory at the 'Haunted Hamburger" a block below it. I also bought a painting from an artist I met who, with his wife, have an entire 3 story converted school as a studio. Exploring the levels of the town, as they're right on top of each other was fun. Everyone wanted to talk, even 2 guys digging a ditch, and a telephone lineman working up high. Good town, Jerome.
  21. The area AROUND Sedona is amazing. Sedona itself is sadly becoming a giant tourist trap, overcrowded, and construction spilling out everywhere for new 'resorts'. The BEST place to see was Jerome, the old mining town on the mountains not far from Sedona, which still maintains its old charm, while becoming an interesting artists community. One can only hope it doesn't go the way of Sedona. Except for the overdone tourism, I found Arizona to be quite wonderful, and only encountered warm, hospitable people. I care about any interesting player, regardless of who's laundry he wears.
  22. I never got near Dback country. I was up north in Sedona and the big hole in the ground. So now the Dodgers are sending out an instructional video on 'how to park' at Dodger Stadium. sigh
  23. I just got home. Haven't had time to figure out the pics yet, though. For some reason, I couldn't play Sudo's voices. I'm going to make a guess though, and hope I don't 'blow it' for him. I'm thinking it's 'swinging the alphabet' by the 3 Stooges. They did it in 'Violent is the word for Curly" in the 30's, but also recoreded it for a children's album in the 60's-with 'psuedo stooge' Joe De Rita. Not sure which one Sudo played, but I'm betting dollars to donuts that's it.
  24. Been wandering around Arizona for the first week of the season, and have caught a couple Dbacks ganes on the tube. It's always fascinating to see local channels broadcasting their teams. The announcers who I can't name are fine, but I'm glad I have Vin to go home to. The Washington Nationals ballpark(which I believe is the same joint the Senators played in long ago) seems dark and depressing. They are getting a new park next year though. It will be entertaining this season to follow Mstar, Bolshevik, and the Japanese pitcher. What's his name again ?
