I'm an Expressive Driver. ;)--> Expressive first with Driver a close second. I think, though, that the more I get rid of my TWIt thinking I'll probably move toward being Expressively Amiable. :D--> That's what I was pre-TWIt brain.

The Way said that there are 900 promises in "God's word"
Belle replied to year2027's topic in About The Way
Since they taught that there were that many I'd like to see them list them....but without the threats and caveats they're so adept at adding on. -
It's still there, Golfie, they just moved it to the very bottom of the page. They also added this little ditty which speaks loudly to those of us who are familiar with TWIt-speak: "Biblical research, teaching, and fellowship is our ministry, and with it come a myriad of supporting responsibilities to see that God’s Word prevails in our day and time. "

Roy, they said hq was in Jerusalem. They used some scriptures in Acts that I can't remember off the top of my head, but I'll see what I can find.

Thanks y'all! I am talking about my work computer. I'm not sure how to reimage the computer, Steve!, but I do know I have ghost copies and they have set my computer back before.... I just don't know if I have to have administrator rights to do that as well. I will try the safe mode thingy when I leave tonight and see if that helps. I hope it does! Thanks so much! I will try to be there. I may be moving during that time, but if not, I'll be there with "belles" on! :D-->

COOL BEANS! It's so nice to have a face to go with the name!! :D--> Thanks WashNWear for the pic!

Most schools have a 20:1 student to teacher ratio. I figure on these numbers the TWIts have a 15:1 ratio and imagine how much smaller that ratio gets when you throw in the wc who aren't paid to work their b*tts off for the TWIts. All the better to micro-manage you, my little pretty..... If most businesses were run the way the TWIts run theirs they would be broke, but then again, most business aren't as skilled at manipulation as the TWIts are.
-
Song, I look forward to much more laughter from you! ;)--> Thanks for posting here!

Right after my divorce and leaving TWI I had the same dream almost every night for about a month. I was in a dark alley and all the wc people in my state and some from hq were beating the crap out of me. All I could do was curl up and try to protect my head and face as best I could with my arms. It was pretty creepy. I also had dreams about someone from TWI going through all the cabinets and closets in my house. Flashbacks: too many to mention. There are so many phrases and words that get my cockles up to even mention. I'm getting better, but I still have a long way to go.
-
I don't know the answer to your question, Jim. I'll have to think about that. When I saw the title to this thread I thought it was going to be about how the TWIts lauded Paul as more important than Jesus. TWIts ask "What would Paul do?" and laugh at the people who ask, "What would Jesus do?" Remember Craig going off on all the WWJD hoopla going on a while back? The key questions for TWIts have nothing to do with Jesus, but with Paul and the wc. "What would my BC do about this?" "What would my RC say?" Disgusting. I'm ashamed to have ever thought that way, but I did.

Thanks so much, y'all! I think that since there are only maybe 3 weeks left of this thing that I'll try to stick it out, but if I have to endure another night like this week I will tell them I just can't stomach it. The other weeks haven't been that bad. I think most of it is just the "small group" thing and the class type atmosphere I really hate. I should not have signed up for something like this so soon, but since there are only 4 people in my group I think I should try to finish it. Chas, you're absolutely right that I still have this guilt because I "made a commitment" to the group for the duration of the class. This is partially how I ended up staying in TWI for so long....putting up with crap to please others.... I'm just feeling very suffocated by all this. They call to check on me, invite me to dinner, to go to the movies, if I miss church, etc. It's definitely too much. I will talk with my friend and explain things to her and maybe go to the services only once a month or so. (I really do enjoy the services, just not this PDL crap.) I'm travelling quite a bit for the next few months so I won't be in town most week-ends. I wish I had time to respond to each of you individually. Thank you so much, all of you, for taking the time to respond!! You've helped more than you can know.

Okay, so I'm TRYING to get over my waybrain and so I started going to a local church that I really enjoy. They have contemporary services with great, uplifting messages each week. They also kicked off a 6-7 week Purpose Driven Life study group program, so I signed up for it. We meet once a week and watch a video of the guy who wrote the book; talk about what we read and what we heard in the video; we pray with and for one another and share little stuff about our week. My group is 4 women and they are all great, kind and very open women. The leader of our group was a friend and co-worker during the past few years that I was miserable in my marriage and miserable in TWI. She is one of only a few people I talked to about my situation during that whole time. Last night we met and watched the video. It sounded so much like a TWI teaching that it was all I could do not vomit right there in the living room. I made notes during his teaching and tried to not be a distraction, but I didn't do a good job. Once the tape was over they all looked at me and waited for me to speak. I told them that I disagreed with most everything he said and that it sounded just like a cult teaching and then proceeded to tell them why: He said that God will take us through all the same things Jesus experienced. That's pure and utter b.s.!! I don't think I need to explain how ridiculous that one is. He said many, many times that "if you respond the right way....." The way he presented things put God into the "conditional love" category. I KNOW we have things we should or would be better off doing, but this type of teaching takes away free will and makes it sound like you're cr@p if you don't do whatever he says is the proper response He mentioned "renewing your mind" more times than I care to remember. He said God wants us to be holy and not comfortable. He said that we should not trust our feelings, but what the Bible says. These things really set me off and I was truly considering not continuing with the study group; especially since now we have "prayer partners". If they start scheduling "outreach" activities I will bolt. Does anyone else run into these things and how do you handle them? I thought I was recovering and doing well, but I was near a nervous breakdown last night.

I was doing a search on Google and clicked on one of the links when my computer started doing crazy stuff. I ran AdAware and it found a bunch of components, but was not able to remove some of them. Now every web page I go to that has the words "work", "love" and some others shows those words as links (I clicked on one of the words here at GSpot before I realized it wasn't supposed to be doing that.) When I go to my Google toolbar to do a search frequently, but not always a website www. enhancemysearch .com don't go there!! pops up with results to the term I was searching for. I can log onto my Yahoo e-mail and read the e-mails, but I can not type in the message area at all. I can't respond or compose e-mails because of this. I downloaded SpyBot, but I can't install it because I have to be logged on as an administrator to do that and I'm not. I'd like to fix this on my own without alerting the Network Nazi to my problem. Does anyone have any suggestions?

JT, I agree wholeheartedly. To say that WD was an eye opener to me would be an understatement and it was the credibility of even the anonymous posters that convinced me that TWI was more rotten than I ever imagined. There were too many people with the same story for it to have all been lies. That being said....I don't see any inaccuracies - intentional or otherwise in this thread. If things weren't credible I would have logged off and continued drinking the kool-aid.

I'm in the does it really matter? camp. How does knowing those things help my walk with God and my relationship with Jesus? All it ever did was make me haughty that I knew more than the "average Christian." BFD!! I haven't thought much about it except to determine that I don't care. I never did believe the 6 denials and couldn't make them fit no matter how much I tried. It's comforting to know I'm not camping alone.
-
Someone posted earlier about a poster they had showing a prof football player who had taken "the class". Does anyone remember anything about that? Why have a poster about a pro football player up at a meeting if they are not respectors of people? Does it help my relationship with God to know that someone famous in someone else's eyes is in the same group? Their priorities are all screwed up!
-
A la, those aren't REAL lyrics, are they? That's pathetic. Who writes this cr@p and who lets them perform it??
-
That's creepy, JT. Some people have said Animal Farm also has quite a few parallels to TWIt-ville. I guess I need to get out these old classics and revisit them. I think of Brave New World being where TWI would take things if it was up to them. No sex for the "spiritually immature" and reproduction only by schedule in test tubes with approved DNA qualities, specific classifications of people and social status with no chance to change.

Do we have a Flat Stanley update? What are some of the cool locations Zach has told you about? I'm an official Flat Stanley Fan now!
-
Learning the answer to that comes with time and experience, imo. Maybe the problem isn't with your (rhetorical)holy spirit, but your understanding of the bible. ;)--> I think you (rhetorical) understand the bible to the depth that you are able to and as you mature so does your ability to see the scriptures in different lights and depths. (Also in light of TWIt-free eyes)
-
Chas, and to think I envied talented writers like you because your cards always sounded so good. :D--> Those words set off triggers for me too. It really causes a problem with the church I now attend. They use some of those words innocently and sparingly, but I know I flinch every time they say one of those words. I missed church on Sunday because I decided to go to the grocery store and take care of some errands early in the day. Some of my new church buddies called "just to make sure I was alright." I can't tell you how much that annoyed me. They most likely meant well and really were concerned since I haven't missed in a long time, but their calls sounded too much like the subtle inquisitions of TWIts. They were so good at, "I'm just concerned about you....." "I just wanted to make sure you are ok...." etc. b.s. to find out how else they can meddle with your life.
-
:D--> :D--> :D--> :D--> :D--> Chas, you are too funny! and that comment is too true! They quit even recording CDs of the same boring songs. Now they just take the songs straight from the services and mesh them into an album. How pathetic! "Singing Ladies of The Way - LIVE!!" OOOOHHHHhhh that sounds exciting....NOT!
-
JT, PLEASE QUIT WRITING SONGS FOR THEM!! ;)--> Are those lyrics for real, Socks?? Gawd bless you, man, for suffering through the clip to get them for us! I can't believe I was part of that organization. I'm gonna be sick. :(-->

What she said and AMEN to y'all! Great thread! They act like we were bumbling idiots before we were saved by twi. If they had their way we'd believe we were nothing and would be nothing if it weren't for twits. They want us to worship them - not God. p.s. I'm glad sOMe one hasn't hijacked this thread like he is want to do.
