Mike, I have not read every word you or others have written on this topic. I have merely spot-checked. I do not know what you do for a living, or if you have even said. But if you are not already a septic tank cleaner, you might consider a career change. You seem to really enjoy digging around in cr^p. Do you think VPW heard God say, "Thou shalt go and speak all the things thou hast read from other researchers, and claim it is thy own." ? I personally do not believe that anything copied from another and not giving credit is of God. That amounts to stealing and lying and I believe God is bigger than that. That is My opinion on the subject.

Oldies and Mike Matthew 5:6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. I don't see anything in that verse about PFAL. God does the filling of those that hunger and thirst. Are you saying that God almighty, creator of the heavens and earth, is not capable of satisfying our hunger without VPW? I don't believe God is limited to using Plagiarized material. Since you feel that the copied works of VPW are God breathed, maybe you could contact Cambridge and Zondervan, etc. and have them include serveral new books in their next publication of the Bible. They could be called I VPW, II VPW, III VPW, IV VPW, V VPW, ETC. They would fit right in after Jude and before Revelation.

Mike, I want to apologize for my attitude toward you. I am not normally that way. If you read all my posts, you will find this to be true. You are entitled to your opinion, just as much as anyone here is. I am sorry for turning it personal. You seem to have totally disregarded all the evidence to the contrary of your view and thus, my above comments. What evidence do you have that the ideas so many of us have are wrong concerning VPW's plagarism, sexual misconduct, etc? This whole site is full of the reasons we have of our opinions. Please share with us what made you draw your conclusions. You do write very well, however you are a bit long winded.

Firebee, you may be right on that. I was not sure so I called work to check and two people confirmed it was the red pill. Anyway, red or blue, you get the point. A great movie to see again anyway regardless of the color of the pill that set him free of the Matrix. The whole concept of that film was mindblowing. If you think about it, TWI is a lot like the Matrix. Also, that other movie staring Jim Carey where he was put in a make believe world.

Page 116 is in the chapter entitled "How to Speak in Tongues". To avoid reproducing verbatim and violating the copyright, I will paraphrase. Start of paraphrase VPW is about to lay out the keys to speaking in tongues. He states that nobody gets missed if they have heard, believes and acts upon the Word of God. He instructs them to do exactly to the most minute detail, what he is about to tell them. He tells them that if they only think it is VPW speaking, then they are out of luck, but if they know the words he is saying are the words of God then they will speak in tongues. End of paraphrase If you follow the implications here, VPW is equating himself to God. Page 34 is in the chapter "The Unqualified Commitment" and is dealing with how to renew the mind within the more broad topic of confessing Romans 10:9,10. Here VPW challenges them to change what they are feeding their minds. He challenges them to renew their minds according to the Word. By doing this they will find everything he has expressed to be true. We all know that the collaterals were the food to put into our minds. By putting VPW's words into our minds, we would find his words to be true. It is a vicious circle of logic. There is a good chance I missed the point Mike was making, so my apologies to him if I did. The above are simply my observations of the pages he referenced.

Mike, Take the RED pill.

Thanks Mike. Now I have new incentive for getting the tripod for my telescope fixed. You are so far OUT THERE, it may take years to find you. Zixar! Where are you!? We need all availabe resources to search for Mike. Maybe Mike is aboard the USS Enterprise. He has apparently gone where no man has gone before... Next time Mike, tie a rope around your waist so we can pull you back before it's too late. Didn't somebody post a picture of Mike in a thread called "Caption Contest"? I think it was the one of the man with his head up his a$$.

I saw "The Runaway Jury" on the shelf. I also liked the "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" series. I don't think I have ever laughed so hard from simply reading a story. There are some books by Jon Land that are interesting to read, once you make it past the initial premise which are hard to believe. The only title I recall at this time is "Labyrinth" The are sort of Jame Bondish.

I went to a local Target to look for "Prey". I was going to be sitting in an auto repair shop for quite a while and wanted something to read. I think I will wait for the paperback to come out. But I did pick up another John Grisham novel "The Street Lawyer". It was a good read. I have not yet read a book by him that I did not like. I have read "A Time to Kill", "The Pelican Brief", "The Rainmaker", "The Firm" and now this one. He is a very good writer. I look forward to reading his other works too. "The Street Lawyer" deals with homelessness. A subject that got a lot of negative opinion from TWI. It was an interesting read, in that it took me to the other side of the coin. I have a more compassionate outlook toward the homeless now.

I think I would enjoy that one. I have read "Andromeda Strain" twice, once while in middle school and I loved it. It was much better than the movie. I have also read "Congo" and "Sphere" (also MUCH better than the movie) and I enjoyed both of these.

I hate backing up my data! (But I have to)

Ghost used to be it's own company, now they are a part of Norton's Utilities series. I do not know if it is compatible with XP or Win2K, but I do know that it works at a DOS level, and does a BIT by BIT copy, and not file by file. Therefor I think it will not be dependant on the OS or format scheme (FAT or NTFS). But I am not for sure. What I like about it is that you can restore from the DOS level as well. I have NOT had a successful restore from a Windows based backup. You have to reinstall the OS to access the backup files. Then, if the files you are are restoring are in use by the running system, you can't access them. What a pain. I will try it out at home for you and let you know if it will work with Win2K. I do not have XP to check that. I have an extra HD I will restore to to see if it will work. I have an older copy of Ghost, but Norton has updated versions that I am sure will handle the new OSes. -
I used dual monitors once. I liked it. I used the slower, less capable card to put up notepad when writing HTML, and the other faster card to show the web page as changes were made. It worked real nice. They are planning to get us triple flat screen monitors at work so we can monitor more things concurrently. As it is with one, things get buried under the top window and you can't see things that may be happening below. I can't wait.

Greasespot Cafe -- Names we're known by (and icons)
SocketCreep replied to Kit Sober's topic in My Story
SocketCreep is a term describing a chip or card will creep out of it's socket by expanding and contracting via thermal cycling. The icon is the Penguin of Linux (the penguin is the Linux logo), specifically, one of the Mandrake Linux logon icons. -
We just returned from vacation to Kentucky. It was great to not have to file a travel plan for the LC's approval. It was nice to not have the LC for each state knowing we were in their state. It was awesome that we did not have to check in at various points to leadership. We simple made our plans and went. My mom and dad renewed their wedding vows after 45 years of marriage. It was a touching ceremony with a lot of heart. All of us siblings and grandchildren were part of the ceremony. This is something I think TWI would have ridiculed. They had had a Church wedding the first time, but neither one of them belonged anywhere and did not have any strong desire to know God at that time. When I was in my early teens, we all joined a church and at that point their whole focus changed. This was their opportunity to "do it right". We did a lot of visiting with friends while there. Took in the Louisville Zoo and the Newport Aquarium. The shark tank was awesome. Several years ago I really enjoyed spending a week at the Outer Banks of North Carolina. That was the most relaxing vacation I have ever had. While in the Air Force I was a crew member aboard a C-130 based in Tucson, AZ. One time our pilot got special permission to fly at 300 feet above the Grand Canyon. It was truely amazing. Each of us got a turn in the cockpit for a viewing.

Kay, you made me think of something totally off the wall! Were you the one who starred on "Star Trek the Next Generation"? The one with the long black hair and the slinky uniform? LOL. Seriously, I know what you mean, when you feel for others it can both be a blessing and a drag.

Thank you all for your thoughts and validation. I used to clean window for 12 years and got frustrated when a little one put hand prints on the door glass that I just cleaned. I recently picked up a couple of accounts just for a little extra spending money, and today I saw little hand prints on the glass. This time my thought was "Thank God that child is still alive!" In one respect, I think that TWI was correct concerning corporal punishment. I hope that man is found and taken completely out of society. No more bother to anyone. Sometimes I regress into wondering where God was when those children were crying out in pain for help? The child most likely would not had an accurate concept of God (who can really be sure if anyone does?), but with that urgent, immediate plea, why not help them? It makes me wonder if there really is a God. At times like this, I am not sure. In TWI, it would have been so easy to say, "Well, that child was never going to believe in the future so there were no guardian angels to protect them." How sick can you be?

I finally saw Star Wars and I think I agree with the basic gist of the reviews above. However, how many books have you read first and saw the movie second where you were disappointed with the movie? There are time constraints which are present in the movie version which necessitates editing the story. I think overall they did a decent job of presenting the story. However, I have not read any of the Star Wars books, but based on the scope of each of the episodes on film, I would say the story is of Epic porportions. Quite a daunting task to put on film. I read "DUNE" last Spring and then rented the movie. I was disapointed in the movie. If I had not read the book first, I don't think I would have been able to follow the movie. The thing that I find wierd is the technology of the first episodes seems far in advance of that in the latter ones. I know it is because of improved special effects, but it is a bit unrealistic. As a side note, all the special effects in the "Attack of the Clones" was done on LINUX based computers. Go LINUX!!! Also, the storm and sea in "Perfect Storm" was done on LINUX.

I don't know what it is, but lately, it seems that I am more emotional than I used to be. Before, when I would hear of someone or child getting hurt, I would just turn my sholder and go on about my business. Now it seems I can hardly hold it together. When the news hit about the woman who drowned her 7 lovely children, I lost it, literally. I am glad I was not in public. And just today, hearing of the little 5 year old's end of life, I had to pull over off the road to recompose. Is it all the years of ignoring my feelings finally being able to be let out? Or is it something else? These are not even my children, but it feels as if they are/were. Where is my Kleenex? Got to go...
