  1. Okay, here it is in finished form. I removed the scripture references and personalized some of the verses with her name and personal pronouns. It works out to exactly 3 minutes, which is my mandated time limit: ________________________________________ Raising you and knowing you has been like having the light of life dawning in our home. You have filled our home with reverence, purity and a heart that seeks higher and better things. I begin by quoting something you wrote: “I must, then, actively pursue and do the will of the Lord. The Bible is full of commandments and charges—how am I to obey except I devote my time to doing so? Paul certainly did, testifying that “labouring night and day…we preached unto you the gospel of God” (1 Thess. 2:9). Micah makes our duty clear:” ...What doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God? (Micah 6:8B) In the words of the prophet: Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the LORD shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory. As said the Psalmist: Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday. O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles. Therefore Christine, fear not, neither be thou afraid: but be thou very courageous, For I the Lord shall be with you, withersoever thou goest. The wicked flee when no man pursueth; but the righteous are bold as a lion You have received a grand calling that connects you, both to us, and to the God of heaven. The vision of your calling enables you to think and live higher & more nobly. “Normalcy”, in the worldly sense, and mediocrity are detestable to you. The extraordinary and the supernatural is your rightful destiny. Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made YOU free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. When you speak, Christine, speak as the oracles of God; when you minister, do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen
  2. I wouldn't so anything wothout the knowledge and agreement of your spouse. as parents it is important that you present a united front, especilly to teenagers. That's my take...
  3. I couldn't in good conscience sell my stuff, knowing what poison it is. I tossed it all. But then I heard how much it was fetching on ebay. Dang
  4. Okay here are some ideas I've cobbled together: Raising you and knowing you has been like having the light of life dawning in our home. You have filled our home with reverence, purity and a heart that seeks higher and better things. Isaiah 60:1 Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. 60:2 For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. Isaiah 60:19 The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the LORD shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory. Psalm 37:5 Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. 6 And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday. Psalm 43:3 O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles.
  5. I think the biggest concern at this point is you and hubby being on the same page. That's a situation that deserves to be bathed in prayer, patience and love. Don't worry about where your "believing" is at, just pray. If & when you check out churches/other avenues, I encourage you to shift your paradigm. Instead of seeking the mythical "accuracy of the Word", seek Christlikeness. There's lots to find!
  6. Interesting, laleo. Unfortunately my voice lacks the soft resonance of Garrison Keillor's. Keep 'em coming folks. This helps.
  7. This Sunday, graduating seniors in our local Home school organization will have the "Blessing Ceremony", wherein the parents of each graduate will say a 2-3 minute "blessing" over their child. Sometimes it's accompanied by giving a ring or somesuch, which we won't be doing. It's a nice ceremony, but it seems the real purpose is to give the girls an opportunity to dress up. Anyway... I'm disinclined to pour oil on her head and prophesy, a la Moses, and I'm thinking either a section of scripture or poetry might be most apt. Suggestions please??? Background: Daughter is devout, chaste, very focused on her spiritual life and is intent on making a difference for God in her life. she's a fairly high achiever as well. Of course, I'm biased, just a hopeless dad about his daughter, so you can bear that in mind. Anywhooo, suggestions?
  8. Mike, so Piffle doesn't make into this category either? Or hey, maybe WW was taking about The Class©.
  9. the mex, sure it's possible to get the God-breathed Word today. "incline your ear" to God's mouth and listen. By means of the Holy spirit, He'll teach you. Humans will never agree on doctrine. Thankfully, full doctrinal agreement is not a requirement for full fellowship.
  10. That's Danny with the bad news, not me Allan. Danny, that's really terrible! Best wishes & prayers man! Allan, with all due respect, Copeland and Pringle are pretty unclear doctrinally. There are far better resources for launching off to better things than the hopelessly flawed PFAL. Check that, I'll call it "hopelessly flawed and evil" PFAL. I guess I'm not quite as nice as Danny, sorry. I say it not to inflame, but because I believe it to be true and impportant enough to say. If you were serious about discussing it, I'll throw out a few topics and if you're interested we could start a thread here: -Christology -Soteriology -Dispensationalism
  11. Yeah Danny, it kind of removes discussion from the queue, doesn't it? Come to think of it, it seems to remove thinking as well. I'll have to think about that. (Hi alfakat, I'm headed to the Left Coast on Wednesday...SanDiego to be precise)

    Seen this?

Oldies, I utterly & profoundly disagree with Wierwille's "how to get saved" formula. "I wonder how many thousands of people believe that they are born again of God's spirit but are not?" Yeah, I wonder how many Wayfers (and ex) are convinced they are born again and are not...
  13. Okay Raf, but I'll have to call it 20% That's a seriously failing grade. Wait, let's say it's a cool 75%, just for the sake of argument. The problem is that Piffle *demands you buy the system in toto. It's the only way it really works. I submit that the "whole system" is a hopelessly corrupt theology and collapses under its own weight. I mean, hasn't Der Weg been sufficient proof of that?
  14. I thought I was the only one with a dog story. I was standing with my buddy who was also on staff. One of his duties was to feed those dogs. CoachDoc walked up & asked him about how he was mixing the regular dog food with the horsemeat that he had gotten. Something in my friend's answer displeased and he went off on the A #1 most extreme tirade I'd ever witnessed from him, which is saying something. There were far more 4-letter words than content. And innumerable g*dd*ms, which particularly hurt my ears. And of course that heavy finger punctuating every word with a hard poke to the chest. Geez.
  15. Oldies, there was a DIRE consequence to Solomon's sin. Read what happened in the WAKE OF HIS DEATH. Hmmmmmmm. I pin the disintegration of DerWeg post-Wierwille squarely on his shoulders. If he'd built of work based on Jesus instead of a cult of personality based on himself, it could have survived quite nicely.
  16. David repented. Quite publicly. Then, and not until then, God restored him.
  17. It didn't wreck my life either, dooj. I even believe God wanted me there...for a time, though I overstayed my welcome so to speak, but that's another topic. For me the only answer was to throw it all out, every bit of it. The deeper I looked the more I realized it was tainted. I contained "leaven" and plenty of it. Heck it was leaven. I had nothing to lose by excising the whole mess and starting fresh. I turned to God to paint how my Christianity would look. Sure, a number of true things came back, but they came to me untainted, from the fountain Himself. Why draw from a fountain that gives forth sweet & bitter? There's nothing to fear in chucking it all. There's everything to fear by holding on to the "concept". Lots of bad apples lurking in that basket. Are you sure you can excise each one? And even if you can, is it okay that the source of what you believe is that unholy, corrupt an evil mess that we've all left? Just another perspective to consider...
  18. Are you saying you think the Doc brought out these teachings consciously in that manner, or he was subconsciously projecting. My offhand guess would be the latter. Interesting thoughts.
  19. I was in one. Termed "initiation into the inner sanctum". It was done around a fire adjacent to the pond. Black robed 'n hooded as mentioned above. Wierwille intoned ;ots of mumbo-jumbo, accomapanied by the occasional fire flash (he threw handsful of theatrical fire flash powder kept in his robe pocket). Supplicants were given a "host" in a mock communion. The "host" was a nasty root substance from India that burned for days. "Inner sanctum" it was not. That was reserved for those "mature enough" to "handle it". Ahem
  20. Well, oldies, i think the gospel rightly calls our entire society, its values, our government, everything, into question. Into serious question. The gospel presents a challenge wherever it lives. The question is how you are responding. I can honestly say that some of what I do in life is in response to that challenge. Some is not. Being an idealist and a seeker, I wish to put more of my life in the first category...
  21. I object to the baggage-filled and meaning-less wayspeak codeword "moving the Word". It is descriptive of absolutely nothing.
  22. Sometime in spring or summer of '76, 6th Cork had the famous "meeting that never was". We were sternly threatened not to disclose that the meetings ever took place. Wierwille made dire predictions that the country was "going down the tubes" and y'all get ready cuz it's going down. Honestly I don't remember much from the meetings. I was glad to get loose for our interim year, f'sure. I wish alfakat were here to post for he was there & has a legendary memory.
