when praying around the death of a recently deceased beloved of God and of many of the denizens of Greasespot Cafe, it came to me that Naaman received his healing, not through the benevolence of Gehazi's ministry but his own faith. Gehazi received his judgment, as I hope to see vpw receive his. It appears to me that many of the blessings of twi that we received were not due to the greatness of vpw's ministry but to the faith of the truly faithful (faithful according to God's viewpoint, not twi's). Hopefully, Kit

"Miracle" RE: 1980 Olympic hockey team victory
Kit Sober posted a topic in Movies, Music, Books, Art
It's out in video now. Fred told me it was good, so I watched it. Not much mention of the prayers which were sent heavenward to make this event possible. And No thanks to the God Who made it come to pass. But God's goodness is in the kids who played their hearts out. Also I think Kurt Russell appears to enjoy playing a guy who really made a difference in the world, as opposed to the fictional portrayals he usually does. Glad I saw it. Kit -
Simple web search yields a bunch of stuff. From one: prices seem to range from $12 to $26 on the Internet. What's the difference? This appears to be quite the thing. Kit

Happy Birthday Pawtucket, our friend. So glad you were born! Kit

I didn't even see that. (Wasn't watching very closely) Also, I guess it helps to be from Berkeley CA, home of the intellectual grafitti. I think you need to be able to laugh at it. Also I think it was good to put so much of the comforts we take for granted in the perspective of "essential" for life.

Not just past wars: Christians claim a most bloody war (blood up to the haunches of the horses on the battlefield, etc.) as part of their "hope." World Trade Center fall is pale in comparison to what some Christians are looking forward to. (I'm included here.) Kit

Something to do with your kids over the holidays! ELF
Kit Sober replied to Dot Matrix's topic in Movies, Music, Books, Art
DVD is out now. I really enjoyed it. It's clean fun (IMHO). Includes nice performances by Bob Newhart and Ed Asner (I think his life was changed when he found himself in a Jesus movie many years ago. Ed Asner is a favorite of mine.) there's a homepage to look at before you rent. . .The Elf Movie Kit -
so if two (or more) people put this background music command on one thread, which one plays? (or better, what plays?) Kit

Amen on board games! So many love-ly memories. (Scrabble was one of the best loved.) And Most Important: those things the Lord does to keep the budget intact. :)--> He got me a job where I get one great meal a day. (It's my main meal of the day when there's no one to cook for/eat with.) :)--> He keeps me working and hopeful. :)--> Received a black leather coat from a fellowworker -- His mother had been carrying it around for years and sent it to him (It's not the cheap import kind. This is 3/4 length Really Great). . .of course neither he nor his wife could wear it. :)--> So many things attributable only to the merciful and loving hand of the Lord. One friend was talking about some of the many things the Lord had done for him just yesterday, and an interesting thing is that they were all one-shot things so to speak (like the coat). Things you couldn't repeat and were obviously only from Him. Praying with you and for you for good success, Hopefully,

Thank you, dear Veterans! ! ! Note to UH: This is a holiday for remembering things they are proud of. twi days, as for many of us, is a blight and days of ignoble embarrassment. Kit -
A movie made for love for the man. Can't miss formula.

bottom line is WDJS? (say) about your situation. I have seen many go in and out (and hopefully in again) through the "Christian" phase. so IMHO "Christian" is a transient characteristic. But godliness and pursuit of goodness is a focus of the heart. That you can see. (Many people have never met Jesus face to face. That is not a fault or character flaw, but a question of God's timing.) It's only the Lord Who has kept Fred and I together for 36 years -- and it was His promise of care we trusted those many years ago. Praying with you and for you for good understanding. Kit

Interesting point Sudo. I Wonder if vp was a cute kid? (I of course am in an Acts 12:14 mode over this, with hope that the conviction will stand and it can be used to prosecute abortionists.) Kit

IMHO: forgiveness is a matter of the heart between you and the Lord. Actually when we forgive it allows the Lord to satisfy His sense of righteous judgment because our forgiveness puts the ball back into His court where it belongs. Bible speaks of those in heaven looking for judgment upon those who beheaded them, etc. I think people have an untrue idea of forgiveness, that it means no repurcussions for sin. Forgiveness in no way implies allowing the sin to continue. Forgiveness prevents the soul-destroying spirit-quenching bitterness of sin to hurt you by calling God God and not yourself as god. my opinion. (what I believe at this stage of my course of life.) Oh Shoot! I just looked up and found that Nevada has early voting. Fred was here while it was going on and he's working in California and probably can't get away to come here to vote. Oh, well! Maybe next time. Thanks for telling me about it. I think anything that makes voting more accessible to the people is great. p.s. over 33,000 had voted by 10/29/04, which is when the early voting here in Washoe County (Reno NV area) ended. p.p.s. You can't even vote twice on the presidential poll at the Greasespot Cafe. I'm sure controls are in place to prevent double-voting. Kit

I thought this might be a nice place for good resource materials. Another thread with a Merriam-Webster definition reminded me that those definitions do change. . . Webster was a great Christian, and a facsimile version of the dictionary he authored is available. Webster's 1828 Facsimile Dictionary Also there is a facsimile of the KJV available which includes, among other things, the complete introduction and preface remarks which the translators included -- So reverent and thankful. I love it. (of course I have given away both copies purchased over the years. But hope springs eternal that I'll get it again.)
