  1. My thoughts about this dusted off from the 70's/80's: Our job is to love one another, not keep tally of our fan club. There are lots of people left to love you (I know I am one). I thought then and still do: It's a self-centered poem that not only does not include the Lord in any equation, but promotes a mind-set that keeps Him out of the picture. Of course no once would listen to me back then. Thanks, again, Pawtucket, for giving us a forum to air pent-up thoughts. Kit:)-->
  2. Funny you should bring this up. I was praying a few days ago to see how to bless people without them knowing it. That is, I could see so many got beat without knowing how or why (such as inheriting diseases, having a spouse someone thought was lovely turn into a bully, having stuff stolen from them). And I always try to see the blessings that people do, even without trying to. Kit
  3. I am looking forward to hearing what you think of the dog acting. I thought it might be the best I can remember. Definitely a highlight of the movie.
  4. I had heard it was a "great movie," but that description has been worn out in my mind. Nevertheless, I agree. Met all my criteria: nice kids, nice overall, happy ending, nice dog. Nothing scary or offensive. I felt I was a better person for having watched it.
  5. When my children reached teen years I longed for that wonderful sweet child I had once enjoyed -- but then realized I would never want them to leave home if they stayed so sweet and obedient. Must be the way God planned it so we could let them leave home:)--> (I wonder if baby birds get a 'stink' about them so the momma bird kicks them out of the nest?) But they will always be yours, and the Good Lord takes care of them always -- He watches the sparrow when he/she gets kicked out of the nest, and also our most precious ones as well. Praying for peace, Kit
  6. Not all that glitters is gold: Caution about any program education that your child is involved in: We need to remember that it's our choice, always. When my most wonderful son Paul was classified as "gifted" I was really impressed, but when I examined and discussed with Paul his classroom experience and visited teacher and classroom, I became more and more disillusioned and then pretty Upset. (This was God-daxxing California.) At first I shrugged it off as "new experience," but then could not ignore the damage it was doing to his soul and spirit. "creative writing" imagining Harry Potter stuff -- long before Harry Potter was written. this teacher was ahead of her time. This 6th Grade teacher was teaching No discipline, let your mind wander. No structured reading writing and arithmetic. (6th grade is when these foundations need to be set in a child's mind.) By the time I figured out what was going on (about 6 months she had him), I almost lost Paul. When I went to school and pulled him out of the program, the teacher said that if I pulled Paul out, "He would never graduate from any school whatsoever." And she was almost right. (Fred was not around at this time, me and the kids were on our own, and we were pretty much outcast by twi as well.) It was only a miracle that Orlanda Lilly the twi US Marine Corps gentleman, after his tour with Operation Desert Storm was stationed in Sacramento in the Recruiting Office, and he worked with Paul so that Paul did graduate from high school (by the skin of his teeth) and went into and completed a 4-year tour in the Marines. Kit p.s. he is ok on track now.
  7. Thank you for all the kind and life-enriching contributions you have made to us, both on- and off-line. My prayers are with you all upon every remembrance. God speed, Kit

    Shock & Anger

Thanks for bringing this up. I noticed on the way home, when I drove passed a guy walking home that I used to stop and help more (we have poor bus system out here in the boonies). I wasn't so afraid to stop. (Once i stopped to help a lone woman that looked stranded and she was looking for a pickup of a different sort.) Overall it appears to me that we will be judged when we meet the Lord for the good we do (and not our judgment of others). Thanks,
  9. Thanks, Ted. You are a treasure.
  10. It's missing the truck section (red trucks, blue truck).
  11. I have a brain and a heart. academic intellecualism (UC Berkeley grad) and drugs, not a few left me pretty spacey (in between whole thoughts). Was sitting in in the audience of the 72 ROA movie showing, and Del Duncan did something between him and the Lord. My brain and heart was healed. I couldn't know the Lord is so good without that. The Mrs. W thread also shows an taste of miracles of our lives from twi. The problem isn't with the Lord and His calling and gifts, but with the hypocricy, deception, lies filth, etc. of the person who once had a calling and a ministry before the Lord. He wasn't the first to sell his ministry for a mess of pottage and won't be the last. but miracles and true gift ministries many I know from that place.
  12. Practicing the art of funny is always good food for thought. Jesus was a master at this (e.g., John 21:5). :)-->Kit
  13. True: I was read in a magazine a "joke" that went something like this, I read the the "joke" to Fred, my husband, and he said............"what?" no kidding.
  14. Out of sight is not out of mind and heart. The Lord reminds us to pray for our friends. Praying, too,
  15. I read lots of different Bible versions, read and listen to many Christians. Also have joined a number of different churches in the almost 10 years since being marked and avoided. And it's been like Bre'r Rabbit, I am so glad to be thrown into the briar patch of the world. I have found that the Lord is most faithful.
  16. and a note from a Capitol Hill prayer partner email: Hopefully looking to see God's blessings over this land, Kit
  17. For me Chris was a true Nehemiah 8:8 kind of guy and a treasure to remember. Thanks, Suz.
  18. Coolchef, Thanks for the offer. Please give Chris all our love from Fred and Kit Sober.

  23. When the Lord Created Fathers When the good Lord was creating fathers, he started with a tall frame. A female angel nearby said, "What kind of a father is that? If you're going to make children so close to the ground, why have you put the father up so high? He won't be able to shoot marbles without kneeling, tuck a child in bed without bending, or even kiss a child without stooping." God smiled and said, "Yes, but if I make him child size, who would children have to look up to?" And when God made a father's hands, they were large. The angel shook her head and said,"Large hands can't manage diaper pins, small buttons, rubber bands on pony tails, or even remove splinters caused from baseball bats." Again God smiled and said, "I know, but they're large enough to hold everything a small boy empties from his pockets, yet small enough to cup a child's face in them." Then God molded long slim legs and broad shoulders, "Do you realize you just made a father without a lap?" The angel chuckled. God said, "A mother needs a lap. A father needs strong shoulders to pull a sled, to balance a boy on a bicycle, or to hold a sleepy head on the way home from the circus." When God was in the middle of creating the biggest feet any one had ever seen, the angel could not contain herself any longer. "That's not fair. Do you honestly think those feet are going to get out of bed early in the morning when the baby cries, or walk through a birthday party without crushing one or two of the guests?" God again smiled and said, "They will work. You will see. They will support a small child who wants to ride to Branbury Cross or scare mice away from a summer cabin, or display shoes that will be a challenge to fill." God worked throughout the night, giving the father few words, but a firm authoritative voice; eyes that see everything, but remain calm and tolerant. Finally, almost as an after thought, He added tears. Then he turned to the angel and said, "Now are you satisfied he can love as much as a mother can?" The angel said nothing more. Aww! Happy Father's Day!

    noni juice

Well, lindyhopper, I have been to the doctor and spent lots of money there and on doctors' prescriptions. If this stuff can prevent those expenses, it's pretty cheap. (My dad founded the organic foods co-op in Berkeley back in the 50's, so I am comfortable with the expense of natural preventive measures.)
  25. Hi Vickles, I mentioned this on the "Pension" thread, but recently found the book "Rich Dad Poor Dad." Maybe it will give you some ideas, too. Certainly gives a different perspective on how to view money making processes.
