  1. Fred really likes fruitcake. I am going to try your recipe LeafyTwiglet. Thanks. note on fruitcake alcohol: my mom used brandy and dampened a cotten cloth (old sheet torn for the purpose) and wrapped fruitcake in it. The alcohol would evaporate, but aroma and taste remained.

Another way to look at it (my opinion) sees Pawtucket's withdrawal from and possibly closing Greasespot Cafe as another warrior in the battle against tyranny wounded and worn out. I think the battle against the tyranny of the twi mind set will need to be waged even if the doors to twi were closed completely because of the residual effects of that place. I also am thankful for all the people who fight to help others as well as themselves correct the sins twi inflicted into the world.

the above discussion and points by Groucho (with ExCathedra's usual adding weight to the fulcrum so we don't topple over) demonstrate for me some of the blessing of this place -- people are allowed opinions here, including opinions that differ from those of others, and there is no "final word" of censorship other than the clearly stated rules of good conduct and civility (If we go into a restaurant, we need to wear shirt and shoes. And if we come to Greasespot Cafe, we need to remain civil and courteous.) Thanks, again, Pawtucket. :)

I love this place. I know it's given people the opportunity to stay connected who might otherwise have been really "out there". You have given even the complainers a voice and place to vent -- which we never had in the cult mind-set of twi. Thank so much. A few of my ideas that might help reduce your investment of heart and finances. :) Figure out the cost to run the place and divide it by an average number of regulars and charge a membership -- others websters.com, internet greeting card companies, graphics, etc. do this, and Greasespot Cafe provides all these services. :) Pay yourself and the other technical moderators who keep this place so alive. :) Moderators who want separate moderator name should be allowed, as all names, that's personal preference. I've had knee replacement surgery (Christmas eve) and other personal heartaches so I haven't been here too much, but I know that Greasespot Cafe has been a place of learning, personal growth, and healing. I have learned here, by the kind teaching of yourself and your friends, so much of computer use --graphics posting, you tube posting -- general growing a computer/internet comfortzone. At the Greasespot Cafe I first learned to listen to Holy Spirit in someone's post, and I think He has given us the Internet so that we can keep in touch with each other no matter what our physical circumstances are, and that keeping in touch is vital to our social health. How many wonderful relationships has Greasespot enabled that wouldn't have been possible otherwise! Thanks, again, Pawtucket. And my thanks also to your "significant other." Great women it seems have often sacrificed and are given the restoration tasks of binding up the wounds inflicted by the world on their beloved. I don't think Billy Graham could have accomplished what he has been able to do (and still continues to do) without the 60+ years of devoted sacrifice of Ruth. I think it takes both of the couple to pull of really great things for the Lord. Thanks, again and again, Kit p.s. all my graphics were deleted by the aol change to delete subscriber ftp space. I didn't delete them voluntarily.
  6. Startling insight on forgiveness I received on a prayer list today: Forgiveness means giving up all hope of a better past.
  7. Max Lucado is a special thing to me. When I first was introduced to him, after twi of course, I was grieved that I hadn't "met" him earlier. His stuff hits my heart. Hope you enjoy this. Thanks for reading it.
  8. Thanks Pawtucket. I say amen and amen to "So glad you were born." My congratulations to your mom. She raised a nice kid!!! :)
  9. I hope your Thanksgiving is wonderful.
  10. Fly Swatter ------------:::::: Good for frustration :)
  11. as a husband loves and protects his family, so does a godly leader love and protect those under his care. There is such a thing as true leadership -- one who takes the care of his flock as a mandate from the Lord. A one such as this is known by humility and suffering that is not advertised. One must know this only by the Holy Spirit because a true leader doesnt boast of his sufferings, they happen because of how much the devil hates him. There is an integrity to his words. He has paid the price to speak. Some of us are fortunate to have known true leaders and to be under their covering, which is a true umbrella. Friends do this for us as well. Billy Graham suffers for his love of his wife, Ruth, who was incapacitated for many years, and now he endures the loss of his beloved wife. Watchman Nee suffered untold things but left the legacy of his integrity. This is the way of a true leader.

    The trinity?

In my opinion this is a blatant violation of Greasespot forum rule, "making disparaging remarks about fellow posters' character, motives, intelligence, religious beliefs (or lack thereof), or life outside these forums."

    The WAG of Ike

...back to damage from Ike. . . Did it turn out to be the perfect storm that was expected? I just saw pictures but know from experience that weather channels can repeat tragic clips as tho it's widespread damage. Was it the severe damage of Katrina? Did New Orleans levees hold up?
  14. Here's another chocolate cake an internet friend sent me. Another friend tried it when I sent it to her, and she said it was passable. Ok, Sue Fry sent this to me. I hope it works. I think. Definitely could be dangerous to have a chocolate cake only 5 minutes away at all times, I agree! Elizabeth Ps: I don't think the chocolate chips should be optional, however, if you're going for it! After all... 5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE (at those "splurge" moments): 1 Coffee Mug 4 tablespoons flour(that's plain flour, not self-rising) 4 tablespoons sugar (or other) 2 tablespoons baking cocoa 1 egg (or substitute) 3 tablespoons milk 3 tablespoons oil (olive, etc....olive is actually very good in cakes) 3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional) Small splash of vanilla Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well . Add the egg and mix thoroughly. Pour in the milk and oil and mix well. Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla, and mix again. Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts. The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed! Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired. Can be shared if you want.
  15. Technical question: What's with the host http://www1.itech.net was bought out. So will this page evaporate soon?
  16. I'm with finallyunderstand on this one. "coulda woulda shoulda pal" is constant irritant and poses a great temptation to agree wholeheartedly with Geo, but I wouldn't trade husband I wouldn't have otherwise or the son born in twi for the world on a silver platter. I'm 60+ going back to college. I am so glad I don't have Alzheimer's -- I hope. Some may question that last sentence. Overall I am just so glad I got out. That's for sure. That was a miracle of love and grace :) that's magnificent :)
  17. Thanks nandon. (I know God can save to the uttermost because He saved me, and I have no doubt He could save anyone.)
  18. Life can be pretty good when you have good friends, good food, good times together -- not to mention such scintillating thought provoking conversations.
  19. Said the handle to the cupboard door, "I adorn(adore) you." (Can't get it right :( )

    The WAG of Gustav

From a friend who is in Baton Rouge, and who the Holy Spirit had get all kinds of stuff prior to Katrina. He helped out his family and other friends, camped in a parking lot, with plenty of clean water for him and his family and friends. He is so terrific. I have whined about the winter here. . . and he remembers and calls Reno to have "nice fall weather." I trust our prayers have a big impact on this storm. (It's the people who are too poor to protect themselves who are hurt the most by these things.)
  21. I am grateful for him. He kicked me out of twi. I might still be there if he hadn't done it. I hope he finds the Lord he once sought. (I remember his theme verse was, "Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in Thy sight O Lord my strength and my redeemer." I hope he gets there. It's a noble goal.)
  22. Thanks, Seth :) My brother took me to see the Dead Sea Scrolls for my birthday many years ago when they toured into San Francisco, and it was thrilling to see. The loving care that hid these things away, such as the complete scroll of Isaiah, and then all those who have worked on them since. Thanks, again,
