  1. I don't remember specific teachings, but did keep researching to find out who and what he stood for. A great man who left a legacy of God's kindness into the world. Charisma magazine a couple of months ago had a great article on one of the King family members who was involved in the pro-life movement. Her picture on the cover of the magazine was so breath-takingly beautiful.
  2. Hey Roy! We can always pray!!!!!!!!! And recently I was reading in 1Kings and was so blessed to see that when the Lord sums up the life of a king, he is not bashful about saying so-and-so did wickedly in the sight of the Lord. I expect the Lord will be able to accurately sum up the lives of the leadership in the 20th century as well. This will be nice to see. :) In hope, always with hope, Kit
  3. the major problems I have and most of my friends have with the bho obamacare is that abortions are required coverage, which will force Catholic and other Christian hospitals and health care facilities to close. Catholic and other Christian hospitals and doctors have historically been on the forefront of service provided to those who can and cannot pay. This loss and the forced legislation of what to many (including myself) is murder on demand is a shameful thing and bodes no good. THe promised 'stimulus' package has funded planned parenthood and to add forced abortions into further obamacare is not careful of the good of the country,in my opinion.
  4. "Losing the Way" was life changing to me because it cut through the fog. I am very thankful Kris Skedgell did what she needed to do to get the book published. It's a life changer. Thanks, Kris!

      Human without the bean

That's terrific. Cute as a button as they say Kit.

  6. I am making progress on correcting the stuff in my marked-up Bibles. It's neat to see how Holy Spirit helps me out here. Also I recently read that Ruth Graham used a Rapidograph pen with india ink as I did, for the same reason, that it was fine-line and didn't smear or blur on the india paper of the Bible -- So writing one's notes between God and you in the margin of the Bible is not necessarily wicked but a legitimate study aid -- the wickednes comes from the heart, and thank Goodness God so kindly looks on the heart.
  7. If it is really true that we were not supposed to witness to those who needed the Lord, it must have been about the time when Holy Spirit took His exit as well because the Father's love is shown in His love to His children. I don't remember hearing this because there's something in there about Jesus Christ came to save sinners, among whom I Kit Sober am the greatest. I would never have believed someone was telling me this except as a joke. Kit Sober,Thankful Jesus Christ came to save sinners
  8. I was kicked out. I didn't believe anything of the wickedness of vpw. lcm's ranting and the general going to cruelty of twi people was horrible to me, but I thought that God had twi in His hand and would fix these things. I might still be there if lcm hadn't kicked me out, for which I am eternally thankful.
  9. I got a call from my sister 8 years ago with that message she had C. My life has never been the same. I got skin cancer a couple of years ago, and the doctor could simply take it out. . . I'm not really worried about that so much, but my sister. . .my baby sister. To lose her would be too hard to bear I feel, and so far she's been ok. But I never take her or my two brothers for granted any more. Glad for all the good news stories on this thread, and so sorry for the losses. I hope daily for cancer to end its reign of terror over us. Thanks for the thread Tommyz.
  10. My apology to the put-in-there-pfal-syllabus people. They may have gotten the idea from me. I would transcribe the syllabus into my Bible as a way of learning the pfal class. I am so sorry now. The Holy Spirit usages are easy to wite-out but some of that other stuff will take some real work to make it ok.
  11. Thank you Excathedra. You are a treasure (to us here at Greasespot Cafe, too). Because of your thread I have become more concerned about applying Acts 17:11 to the Bible notes. I did not use ball point pen because that smeared after a while -- I used india ink and fine point calligraphy pen -- and the notes are as legible today as they were when I wrote them. But now there is a wite-out pen to use! Sometimes it only takes witing out the "vpw" (because he didn't author it). I hope to leave a Bible I am ashamed of when I face the Lord. Thanks again,
  12. The Lord still has His way with words for me. I got a great boss who does his best to live for the Lord and some co-workers who are awesome. A new book by Watchman Nee just came out. Most precious. (He has been dead 32 years. A sermon from 1949 found and translated from Chinese.) A tesimony that a life well lived has continual repercussions. God is so kind and gracious. He still keeps me singing.
  13. D@v1d @nd3rs0n has been working to put it on the internet for free. He did a lot of work to get pfal filmed in the first place -- before realizing that he had been used as part of the ripoff of people in the name of the Lord. I'm not sure what the status of that project is. D@v1d had a heart attack a couple of months ago, and that slowed him down.
  14. I started identifying who said what when I had one section with so and so saying one thing, then someone else said something else, and so on. . . Wish I hadn't written so much without thinking. But handling an old Bible, and it carries all the time I spent seeking His face in there, is still a treasure. I still enjoy writing in my Bible because it's a record of some of the neat things the Lord and His servants have taught me from time to time.
  15. Thanks, ExCathedra. I will probably cry a lot (that's what I do now anyway when I see God's kind of kindness and the face of Jesus in the world today). I do think Elvis will be in the band.
  16. I have been there with skin cancer, and agree1. Skin cancer they really are able to get all of it out, and it seems to be the least horrendous of the types of cancer. 2. Battling diseases and parts wearing out / giving out (I had one total knee replacement recently) does increase living in and for the moment, appreciating the kindness around Right Now. You are in my prayers for great comfort from the Lord,

If you watch a pigeon, they seem rather silly. But if you watch them fly and navigate through a pine forest, you find them remarkable. It is because they don't get distracted, their brain is too small. So they naturally can concentrate 100% on the life and death matter of flying through an obstacle course. Pete Schneider There is hope for me, yet! A tiny brain is able to keep undistracted!
  18. I didn't like it. It gave me the creeps. Thought it weighed too much on the loosy-goosy "forgiveness" aspect of God, without the accountability for ones actions. I don't think that "standing approved unto God" only involves correct "rendering" of the scriptures, for without living the truths of them, there is no understanding, no walk with the Holy Spirit. Grace as I see it gives the strength to do what is right, no the license to sin or lack of accountability. I believe we will all stand before God and give account of our lives as they were lived, our actions. Some of which will stand the test of fire, and some wont. Also I found the metaphors repulsive and not relatable to the Bible, to testing, which is the mark of the nobility of the Bereans (acts 17:11). The more I walk with the Holy Spirit, the more lovely He shows me as His view of the world. Thank goodness I can still have an opinion in this placae. Kit
  19. I have been reading "The Dream Giver" by Bruce Wilkinson (He did "The Prayer of Jabez" back in 2000 I think.) The Dream Giver encourages remembering and going after the dreams that the Lord gave us as part of our makeup. I am finding those dreams awakening. . . it's never too late to go after them is one of his premises. And I am working on figuring out how to do set them in motion once again. Thanks.
  20. Brain-age Exercise The site is in Japanese (or Chinese?) Here are the instructions: Press "Start" There will be a 3-2-1 count down. Click on the circles in order from smallest to biggest number. At end of series, computer will calculate and give you your brain-age.
  21. I just found this dvd "Magdalena, Released from Shame," which shows the story from beginning to end, as narrated by Mary Magdalena. And it includes her rejoicing and praising God, laughing and skipping, on the way to tell the brethren that He is Risen. I thought the movie was truly love-ly, and worth a look to see a view of what the women were doing (they shared from their households to feed and serve the disciples as shown by scenes of the women, including Mary Magdalena part of the women feeding the 12. The scene I thought was most impressive was the hurt in Mary M's eyes as the Samaritan woman passed by and was insulted by the Jewish folk for being a halfbreed and in response to "what did she do?" [to deserve the insults] "She's a samaritan. Isn't that enough?" Then Jesus spoke with that woman at the well. . . and well, it was just delightful!
  22. Shelly, I did not read (yet :) ) Too Scared to Cry, but can identify a lot with your "coming to yourself." I think the Holy Spirit is doing it, and there are so many books and other resources being developed to help us clear away the hurt and dirt of our lives, and come to terms with who we are, really, so we can move on. It's so good to be out of twi and able to deal with things in a real way. In hope and prayers with you and for you, Kit Sober, Reno Nevada
  23. I personally am in a pretty good position job-wise, and almost in full agreement with Mr Sunshine above. I do believe that there are things we can build and make right here (electric cars and other ecological products for example), natural resources of oil and coal we can develop. I do think this country still has a lot going for it -- including the great stalwart souls who frequent these forums, who may use their wisdom and intelligence to help produce the solutions the Lord has available and is waiting to give. I am now a certified internal auditor, and should be able to find another job if the current company shrinks me out into unemployment. (Business at our company has been really bad, with no great signs of improvement.) I am also searching out strengthening my education in the Accounting field. College in Nevada offers a senior citizen discount for 62 and over, for which I qualify, so it's more easily affordable than previously. :) I think the most important thing personally is maintaining a wide fulcrum (big feet) so as to not get easily out of balance. I have been reading Daniel G Amen, MD, a brain physician who has researched and teaches the personal strength and healing from a healthy brain. (On Friday, 10 days after surgery, with 10 more days of a $100/day medicine required + $250/visit physical therapy required, the pharmacy tells Fred my insurance is cancelled as of 12/31/08. We can't do anything until Monday, so to stew all weekend, although tempting is very hurtful and does no good. Somehow God has brought us through the hurts and dirts of the years, and the chances are 100% that He will do so again. Why is it so hard to trust Him?) Thanks for listening.
  24. A topic was posted in "silly" referring to a Mexican edition of Playboy magazine that ridiculed the Virgin Mary. My opinion is that twi through ridicule desensitized us to others' religious beliefs. Since becoming more "into" the Holy Spirit and listening for His take on things, I am coming to see that one's religious sense is at the core of a person, and to ridicule a person's view of God is most foolish. The greatest harm to someone who ridicules a view of God is that his own spiritual sensitivity is hardened, encased. The Holy Spirit is truly a breath of fresh air, and as we become more sensitive we can feel His breath -- in the cool of the day so to speak. I love the cross / the crucifix because of it's work to keep me mindful of the price He paid for us. Two of my favorite crosses are produced by the Voice of the Martyrs, at persecution.com, who defend the prisoners and their families (persecution of Christians did not end at the Coliseum ) -- a cross made out of horseshoe nails on a leather thong. -- a beaten silver fish shape with a crown of thorns "crossbar" on a leather thong. (I don't really have a collection of crosses -- it seems that when I find one I like, I wear it until I lose it somehow, really disgraceful. :( )

Through ridicule, twi especially desensitized us to peoples' religious sensitivities. Since being out of twi and more in touch with the Holy Spirit, I find the Holy Spirit encourages sensitivity and kindness towards others religious beliefs -- religious beliefs being found at the core of a person.
