  1. Both mstar and skyrider contributed to this. It was from the "confronting lcm" thread
  2. From Max Lucado's "Up Words" today In my opinion it's so nice to be able to read and appreciate other people's view of the Lord. We know in part and understand in part and as we appreciate others' viewpoint we can see Him more clearly. I pray this Easter season is more precious for you.
  3. A remembrance of Corrie Ten Boom on forgiveness From Cyber Daily Devotions, 7/8/11
  4. From the CFF newsletter today This reminded me of how much we have learned/gleaned from these days leading up to the Resurrection of our Lord. I was also reminded of that mark of nobility of the Bereans who searched the scriptures daily whether those things were so. Such searching the scriptures certainly has kept me out of the soup of swallowing whole what anyone says (other than the Lord, of course :) )
  5. Most admirable Captain Pawtucket. Your actions remind me of Orson Wells' 1938 "The War of the Worlds" (which was in October, not on April 1st). I believe that per the Department of Tomfoolery , on April 1st of each year certain acts which may be construed as lacking in integrity or decorum during the other days of the year, become the responsibility of the prankee, and therefore the prankster is not held accountable for any repercussions which occur as a result of the gullibility of the prankee. I thought I held up the tradition yesterday (April Fools 2011) pretty well at work. As I noted in the shoutbox I responded to my boss's request to update my soon to expire gaming registration by saying that I wasn't planning on doing so since the Gaming Control Board really wouldn't mind. Then I wrote an audit report with a finding against the Controller of the company for allowing the Compliance Officer and the Records and Data Retention Specialist to parade around in bunny costumes and dispense variously colored spheres and confections. The Controller responded in her Management's Response that she had performed further research and identified that this was allowed under the auspices of the Department of Tomfoolery. I submitted the report to the Corporate Director of Internal Audit (for whom I am a Manager) so he could issue the report; however, I believe it might have died on his desk, but hope to see it resurrected on the April 1, 2012. Additionally a Staff Internal Auditor attempted to convince me that some act of non-compliance was in progress and that I was being held accountable for it's occurrence (and he is a most admirable straight-faced liar. I forget exactly what he was saying because he is so funny. He's got the most complicated and dry wit); however, I did remember at the time that no one is to be trusted or believed on April 1st, ever! And was not led astray. It is my understanding that the mark of a good prankster is to hold off on identifying your actions as tomfoolery.
  6. Thanks. Would you please put a donate button on the forum page so we can more easily carry our share? Sometimes I forget to go to the website. But a donate button in my opinion is less intrusive than some of the "personal" advertisements.
  7. Max Lucado is one of my favorite authors.
  8. Jesus Christ – In Ephesians He is not only the believer's heavenly standing. Earlier I noted that in my opinion vp's gross error of his rendition of "the Red Thread" of Jesus Christ was in that he tried to make it look like his version was the only true one, which is what cult leaders do. And it's not "You tell me what you think about Jesus Christ, and I'll tell you how far you're going to go spiritually." No one is accountable to vp or to anyone else. It's a matter personally between you and the Lord, but if you want to share your views, I'd love to read them. Jesus Christ is so unlimited that He shows to each of us His face differently, and also throughout the Bible He is revealed to each of us a little differently according to how our snowflake brains are built. There have been many versions of this, and each of us could give man versions of our own because His face is so lovely and so everywhere. Sometime before 1925, TC Horton did "The wonderful names of my Wonderful Lord" 365 of them. This was republished and adapted and copyrighted in 1925 by Charles E Hurlburt and TC Horton. It's an unlimited subject matter. Writing your own "Jesus Christ through the Bible is an astounding and humbling exercise. Here is Oral Roberts' 1965, third printing 1977, compared to vp's. I am sure that if you check out other versions of this topic found on a simple Google search you will find vp's other "helps" if indeed he followed true to form and lived off the work of other people who truly walked in relationship with the Holy Spirit. Additionally, Oral Roberts' work includes a few paragraphs or a few pages for each Book of the Bible, showing how and why he offers his view of the Lord. I ran out of steam in putting vp's. This was a liberating exercise for me because "The Red Thread" was a last vestige of my "way brain" arrogance. Jesus Christ throughout the Bible: Oral Roberts compared to vp. To those in the lonesome valley, He is the Lily of the Valley, the Rose of Sharon, Honey in the Rock, and the Staff of Life. . . " There is much more in Oral Roberts' book, but you can get the drift. Oral Roberts' work flowed from his relationship with the Holy Spirit and is filled with yearning to see others know the Lord and His redeeming kindness. I put this in a Table but table formatting got lost.
  9. didn't do anything that I could put on a resume (housecleaning was closest thing to experience). those twi years were definitely a "being leeched" experience. After and outside of twi I actually met people who cared about me and helped me on the road to a meaningful life for which I am forever grateful. I was so relieved when twi years went off the 10-year current reporting experience.
  10. UUUUMMMMM.....It's the only name I have. I had two aunts that died with Alzheimers so I try to prevention-think ahead -- If I only have one name then it's more likely I'll be able to remember it. (Who is that kitsober person? ? - oh. It's me!!!) :) Also I hope that anyone who wants to get in touch with me from twi or other days can do so pretty easily.
  11. Thanks. You are very kind. I hadn't thought of searching the internet. Duh! Here is a link for a bunch more of the handpaintings. http://www.thatwasfunny.com/hand-painting/1082 Thanks, again (I sent both your link and this one to my brother. Thanks, so much.
  12. Socrates, If you have the email with all the handpaintings, would you be so kind as to email it to me? (my brother is totally deaf and asked me to resend it but it was on an old pc that went the way of all old pcs and I don't have that email any more for him.) Thanks.
  13. I am hard of hearing and learned a long time ago to ask Holy Spirit when I don't understand what someone says, and often I need to shake it off like the dust-on-feet and moving forward without the dirt attached. My opinion of your statement in question is that the person has been abused and is working it out. The problem with poetic phrasing is that it leaves so much to interpretation to the reader. I don't see any malice of superciliousness. Just trying to find words to communicate from a troubled heart.
  14. Since I first faced the "root of bitterness" warning, I have done my best to avoid it. Don't really know what it is or how it gets there, but bitter foods make a person shudder, and I always hope bitter thoughts and actions would make me shudder as well. I think bitter is opposite of sweet -- and that sweet in the Holy Spirit way is not a saccharine sweetness meaninglessness nor a syruppy over the top sweetness of cavity-creating sugar stuffs, but the natural sweetness of ripe fruit that is such a delight to enjoy.
  15. That correcting habit sure has taken working on to get rid of. I think it's ok now for me. I find myself reading a Bible, a commentary, or other Christian literature book and just enjoy what the translator or author is saying -- seeing their perspective and getting blessed by the face of the Lord they are giving (rather than correcting and trying to get everything into "my way" of thinking). What a blessing that is for me to be able to do. It is for me a real note of separation of myself from cult mentalty.

  17. In my opinion, this dialogue does not impinge upon yours or anyone else's private relationship with the Lord, but the purpose is only to discuss what may be true/untrue, healthy/unhealthy, parameters of that relationship per individual and varying opinions on the subject. I thought that's what this place is all about, being able to discuss, without invading one's privacy and without judgment on someone else's personal relationships with anyone or anything else. (respecting other's opinions, values, etc. etc.)
  18. Thanks, Ken. And for the news of your family. So glad for you.
  19. tonyzamboni. Thanks for posting. So glad you were smart to follow a true leader who suggested you get out. I stayed in 9 more years until I was kicked out. Wasted painful years. I wish I had been like you and listened to true leaders and friends who tried to get me to leave. Thanks, again. Reminded me of true friends I had.
  20. There is biblical character = to vp: Revelations 2:6: But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitanes, which I [God] also hate. Dale Sides, extwi 6th Corps now with his own ministry Liberating Ministries for Christ International, a number of years ago put forward that the Nicolaitanes are those who overcome (nico) people's (laos) free will. A perfect description of vp et al, in my opinion.
  21. p.s. I am not doing all this cooking. A dear friend's son sends me these things and they look and sound so delicious I thought you'd like them. Tater Tots Great served with steak, fried ground beef patty, tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwich, or just about anything else you can think of. If you like a really bland flavored tot then leave out the granulated garlic and fresh ground pepper. I always sprinkle the regular ones with both and salt before baking anyway...your call. 3 lbs. russet potatoes, peeled, cut into 1″ pieces, and rinsed 1 3/4 tbsp. powdered gelatin 4 tbsp. flour, preferably Wondra 1/2 tsp. ground coriander1/2 tsp. granulated garlic (garlic powder will work here) Kosher salt, to taste 1/4 tsp. fresh ground pepper (optional) Peanut or canola oil, for frying Arrange a rack in center of oven and heat oven to 250º. Put potatoes and 4 cups water into a food processor; pulse until potatoes are cut into roughly 1/8″ pieces. Drain potatoes and rinse, shaking strainer to remove as much water as possible. Transfer potatoes to a tea towel (chop any potato pieces that are larger than 1/8″), cover with another towel, and roll up towels tightly to expel any remaining moisture. Arrange potatoes evenly on 2 rimmed baking sheets and sprinkle gelatin evenly over potatoes. Bake, rotating baking sheets once, until gelatin melts, about 5 minutes. Transfer potatoes to a large bowl; using a rubber spatula, mix well to distribute the gelatin. Mix in flour and coriander (and other seasonings if you want) and season lightly with salt. Set a large piece of plastic wrap on a slightly wet work surface (water will help the plastic adhere to the surface) with short end facing you. Place one fourth of potato mixture on plastic wrap, about 6″ from you, and shape into a log about 12″ long and 1″ thick. Lift end of plastic wrap closest to you and bring it over the log, using a ruler to compress roll as you wrap the log. Roll up potato log and set aside. Repeat with remaining 3 batches of potatoes; transfer logs to freezer until firm but not frozen. Pour oil into a 5-qt. Dutch oven to a depth of 2″ and heat over medium-high heat until a deep-fry thermometer reads 275º. Slice through the plastic to create 1″ by 3/4″ Tater Tots; discard plastic wrap. Working in batches, add Tater Tots to oil and cook, turning occasionally, until light brown, about 3 minutes. Using a slotted spoon, transfer potatoes to a rack set inside a baking sheet and chill in freezer for 20 minutes. Increase oil temperature to 350º. Working in batches, add the potatoes and cook, turning occasionally, until browned and crisp, about 2 minutes. Transfer to paper towels to drain and season with salt. Serve hot. SERVES 4—6
  22. TBONE: Watch out! Count carefully and you will be amazed probably at how many you have. I read once that most people don't even have access to a Bible and we should donate the excess to those needy people (I think it was an American Bible Society mailer). I counted and it was terrible. And then I couldn't give any away, either. So I assuaged my conscience by donating cash to them. They probably wouldn't want any of my Bibles anyway and could buy some in other languages. (I do have a parrallel Bible in Chinese because I love Watchman Nee and I like to look at the words he would have been reading when he was conversing with the Lord.) I have given away a few Bibles that's why I was so amazed that I still have any left :)
  23. Too funny. I got one of the old ones out -- the one son Paul chewed out the center of page 255 (eph 2-4), notes smudged so I couldn't read them. Text smudged in eph mostly so much I couldn't read that either. Then I started to cry because I'd made such a mess of it, and I couldn't read anything. What a wreck! BUT I had the thing rebound once, and then I think it was within a week after getting it back from the Bookstore the dog who I had stayed up all night praying for and then he got better -- THAT dog chewed a hole in the newly bound leather Bible cover. So my Bible is a wreck. Some newer Bibles I have aren't such a wreck, but a lot of them are. I am just tought on Bibles I guess. Even the india ink notes I was careful to use instead of sinful ballpoint pen those notes bleeded and smudged beneath the tape the Bible binding people used to repair the ragged edges. Generally it's only Ephesians that's ruined, if only I could take out Ephesians (and I guess the rest of the Epistles) the Bible would look pretty good. SPECIALNOTE: Sharpie has these gel highlighters (pack of 4 at WalMart) that don't bleed on the paper.
  24. Thanks especially act2. I was nudged by the Lord to send a letter to my brother I have had a lot of troubles with, and He was able to wash away more unforgiveness by that. Unforgiveness comes from standing in a lofty position looking down with supercilious stare at those much less terrific than myself, which is such a joke. When I wrote the letter to my brother the Lord was able to bring me down a few notches, and truly I was beginning to suffer from loss of holy spirit thinking caused by oxygen loss up there in the rarefied atmosphere of perfectness. Thanks, again.
  25. I focus on remembering kindness and the other stuff washes away. p.s. In kjv eph 2:7 the "his" is in italics because kindness can only come from Him. and also I picked up old Bible which was nearby because I dragged it out at the instigation of another thread, couldn't read the notes any more they were all smudged away and couldn't read much of Ephesians because it was all smudged away. I just hope that what's left when I meet the Lord, though all smudged away, is His kindness.
