When does truth become a lie
Kit Sober replied to year2027's topic in Doctrinal: Exploring the Bible
vp may have taught that Eve changed the truth into a lie, but that does not make it so. Truth is truth. Eve decided to believe a lie and changed her destiny and ours as well, but the truth stood. The truth was that in the day she ate she would surely die, which she did. Truth did not change. She believed something other than the truth and suffered the consequences, as does anyone who decides to believe a lie. But truth is unchangeable, unchanging. -
An interesting thing is that Billy Graham, with a BA from Wheaton College has done a pretty good job of speaking forth the Lord Jesus Christ and Him crucified for 60+ years with integrity. His integrity has been enough to carry him through it seems.

When does truth become a lie
Kit Sober replied to year2027's topic in Doctrinal: Exploring the Bible
I don't think truth can ever become a lie. Like a diamond can be cut by a master diamond cutter, set on a lovely piece of velvet and the rainbow hues of the facets be clearly seen, it can remain in the ground, it can be buried in mud, thrown in the garbage, but a diamond it remains no matter the environment in which it is placed. A person becomes a lier when he lies, but the truth itself is unchanged. Jesus Christ is truth and anyone's opinion of Him does not change who He is. The more care a person gives to Him the more of the rainbow hues of the facets of Him a person can see, but what we see and hear of Him does not change who He is. We sange "O Word of God Incarnate" in twi although we probably were fed a hash version, but the words of the song are pretty wonderful: -
Hell - what it is and how to stay out of it
Kit Sober replied to Kit Sober's topic in Doctrinal: Exploring the Bible
I started this thread because I believe that the subject of hell, as a consequence of a life lived separated from God, is a most real subject which was ignored in twi because the leadership did not want to deal with anything that intimated there was an eternal consequence of sin, which the Bible does address in the Old Testament, and the New Testament. A dear friend pastor I met on the Internet sent this out today which has some good food for thought for those who care to look. She has the scripture references set up as links to an internet Bible so you can check out the verses easily and also the context of them. She has the links set to the NIV version but you can change the version and get the verse however is best for you. (I am still of the opinion that the greatest nobility before God comes from receiving the word with readiness of mind and then searching the scriptures daily to see whether those things are so. It's a lifetime of "dailies" that produce the nobiltiy before the Lord I believe. and another one -
So many good memories (and the other ones I forgot). The "Rock" was a rock of my life during twi years, despite the growing wickedness of that place (which I categorically dismissed as being "a lie from the devil"). The "Rock" was the only "vacation" for me and the kids for all those years, and we always looked at the good side of things (there are always nice things to remember because of the friendships and being with people we loved. Then in post twi years summers here in Reno have Hot August Nights with not only the 50s cars and sock hops but also the kindness of times before the Kennedy assassination (which was the major common memory before 9/11/01) and before computers etc. etc. Also in Reno we got September's Harley Davidson's "Street Vibrations" which brings in more memories of good times. So the Good Lord has kept summers nice full of good times. Plus since twi I've learned a little of integrity and true Christianity from those who really work to live it and my faith has become more firmly founded.

Make Kool-Aid Lip Gloss To make a fruity lip gloss put a small amount of petroleum jelly into a microwave-safe bowl. Stir some Kool-Aid in, enough to make it the color you desire. Add a little sugar, then, place the bowl in a microwave oven for about five or six seconds, just enough to soften it. 4. Make Sand Art With Kool-Aid Draw pictures on paper, spread a thin layer of Elmer's glue over one part of the picture. It's better to start at the top of the picture and work down. Apply the paste to clean, dry hair and let set for five minutes, rinse the paste out. 6. Store in airtight container in the refrigerator until use. 8. Remove Chlorine From Your Hair Use Lemonade flavored Kool-Aid. Pour a little Kool-Aid in your hand, then add shampoo and lather up. Pour each color package of Kool-Aid into an individual glass bowl. Stir a ¼ cup of white vinegar into each bowl; make sure the powders dissolve completely. Gather the fabric up in several places and secure with several rubber bands. Dip each bunch into a bowl of Kool-Aid. Leave the rubber bands in place and set aside to dry. Once dry, remove the rubber bands and spread it out so it can completely dry. Put it in the clothes dryer by itself and dry on high for 15 minutes to set the colors in. 11. Use Kool-Aid to Check for Toilet Tank Leaks Lift the lid off the toilet tank and pour Kool-Aid into the tank. The darker colors work the best. Don't flush the toilet! Just watch the toilet bowl, if you see the Kool-Aid float through from the tank, then you have a leak. The test can take from 10 to 30 minutes, depending on the size of the leak. 12. Hope you never need to try this. BURNS A young man sprinkling his lawn and bushes with pesticides wanted to check the contents of the barrel to see how much pesticide remained in it. He raised the cover and lit his lighter; the vapors inflamed and engulfed him. He jumped from his truck, screaming. His neighbor came out of her house with a dozen eggs, yelling: "bring me some eggs!" She broke them, separating the whites from the yolks. The neighbor woman helped her to apply the whites on the young man's face. When the ambulance arrived and when the EMTs saw the young man, they asked who had done this. Everyone pointed to the lady in charge. They congratulated her and said: "You have saved his face." By the end of the summer, the young man brought the lady a bouquet of roses to thank her. His face was like a baby's skin

Hell - what it is and how to stay out of it
Kit Sober replied to Kit Sober's topic in Doctrinal: Exploring the Bible
Here is another face to face with Jesus / to Hell and back encounter descriptions. For me this especially was a motivater to reevaluate and upgrade my relationship with the Lord. "A friendly reminder: Time is running out" -
Wish you a happy and well-lit fourth of July!

I cannot rejoice in anyone's death. Don't know how. It's beyond me.

The greatest holes in my brain were from academic education intellectualism with no God at the center to hold things together. Like the saying, "If you don't stand for the Lord you'll fall for anything." I had fallen for a lot of things, and it was only the miracle of healing to my brain that I could know the Lord. I come from a family of intellectuals. It's only the miracle of the Lord by the hand of Del Duncan that I came to know the Lord.

Here's an exercise for getting rid of bulbous nose (even if it isn't as big as WC Fields but you want it a little less bulby): Push up on the tip of your nose while pulling down on your mouth. Simple and effective. Only about ten a day will have a noticeable effect.

I received this Catholic book "How to read the Bible" which reminded me of the way Jesus Christ moves the heartstrings and the very flow of the blood in me. Then today I received this from Max Lucado's daily devotional and thought it might help others be reminded of that Wonderful One many of us longed to know, often too many years ago. But His loving kindness is never more than a heartbeat away.

http://neic.usgs.gov...c0004f5m_l.html This seems like a noteworthy event. Happened 6/23/11. Same significance as Japan's a few months ago. On US soil I believe. California/Nevada shows 353 earthquakes in the last week, but this is usual and customary.

Thanks Hiway29. I couldn't find a good link. I used to get facebook notices from Taylor (the Glad Magazine Taylor Overbey) but nothing for a while. Never occurred to me there were two Taylor Overbeys. Thanks again.

Taylor Overbey and things "Glad" are still alive and moving forward towards God's heart (in my opinion). He's on Facebook for one thing here, Taylor Overbey and his work are one of the precious things I am thankful that has held over from the twi years.
