My anchor holds from sheet music published by Singspiration. Words found in Christian Research and Fellowship songbook. Also sung at ROA 1979 by The Way Chorale Internationale. My turn. following is found in many denominational hymnals but never was sung in TWI. Though with a scornful wonder this world see her oppressed, by schisms asunder, by heresies distressed; yet saints their watch are keeping, their cry goes up: How long? and soon the night of weeping shall be the morn of song. oh, the website is www.onelicense.net which many denominations belong to.

Will the REAL vpw-ministry remnant please stand up?
Thomas Loy Bumgarner replied to skyrider's topic in About The Way
To tell the truth(Bwahahaheehee), is it contestant number 1-Christian Family Fellowship Ministries, 2-Spirit and Truth Fellowship International, or number 3- Christian Research and Fellowship, 4- Christian Outreach Fellowship, or some other pretender? All of them stand up and no one sits down. Gee, Gary Moore and John Hurley never seemed to have this problem. ;) :B)  -
A local BBQ resturant serves both styles with vinegar or tomato sauce with hickory smoke flavoring. Also serves ribs and beef as alternatives. Me , I like mine western style or no sauce(plain), fried chicken, mashed potatoes, banana pudding, and cold water. Not much of a tea drinker or coffee. Some offer popcorn shrimp on the side. Keeping you and your husband in my prayers. ps, you don't look 40, more like early 20's.

Is it" Master, the tempest is raging"? If so, I remeber singing that in The Way Chorale Internationale. If not ,can you post more lyrics? Would giving the name of the tune/melody be a give away?

About 75% are hispanic. The most I have seen listed as members just over 400 but most are from Mexico, Central and South America. Only about 25-35 are from the USA, none from Africa or Asia so far. Gee, what happened to The Word Over The World by 2000? Chile and Columbia seem to top out in the list. Strange, so far no one from Belize. Also Spirit and Truth Fellowship has also joined Facebook but so far only 35 people. Both seem to be teenagers primarily, very few" oldies"...................................

Cynic or George, you can post the next hymn if you like. BTW, invite some of the others down here to this topic.

Well, after MySpace and YouTube, Facebook has joined with youth and old fuddy duddies talking about our favorite cult. Most are open, but a couple are closed to the public or by invitation by the administrator of the website. No disagreement is allowed or you may be booted off that group(Mark and Avoid anyone?). Present any true facts and statistics, and you get booed and hissed for having devil spirits. Only say nice things about them and they will be friends forever. Not interested in joining them. Found out C***s McK**n from Kentucky is on ever site as a contributor(wondered why he hadn't been heard in a long time here on GSC). btw, he is in his 50's, not as he pretended to be here in his 20's.

A Christian is a follower, believer and active disciple of Jesus Christ as the true Way(road, path, trail, journey) in faith/trust/assurance/believing(but not VPW's rendering/interpretation) for their entire life, growing and maturing in behavior and attitude.

Kathie, welcome! Like some NC BBQ and banana pudding? Claudette owns and operates a bakery in Marietta,GA. Think it's called Royal sweets or cookies? My understanding is she is a home fellowship leader and is ordained by TWI, obviously not interested in any of the splinter groups. Don't know if she still sings.

Guys, try Augsburg Fortress, Concordia, Church Publishing(Episcopal), Abingdon Cokesbury, Selah, Westminister/John Knox, United Church Press(Pilgrim), Chalice Press as each is a member of OnePrint.com(aka HymnPrint.com). Also GIA(Gregorian Institute of America), and Calvin Worship Institute. They along with CCLI are the largest licensing agencies for Christian hymns and Praise/Worship songs.

Unless Gatlinburg area has one, I am not sure. I was hoping for something more in Eastern Tenn.(Chattanoga, Gatlinburg, Knoxville, Tri-City/Northeastern). It takes me about 1&1/2 to get to Asheville or 2 hours to Johnson City/Bristol/Kingsport/Greenville,TN including Abingdon,VA, and 3-4 hours to Knoxville/Oak Ridge(hate the curves on I-40 from Old Fort to Black Mountain, and again from Cannon/Enka/Chandler/Waynesville to Newport,TN). Besides I have mild panic/anxiety attacks if I am on the road more than 2-3 hours, heights and lots of traffic in large cities(Charlotte, Raleigh, etc.) can trigger them, especially during rain/thunderstorms. Yes I take celexa to help calm my nerves, still I don't like driving on the interstate too long, stopping every 1-2 hours. Interestingly, until my late 40's, I used to have no or little problems driving straight for 3 hours before stopping to use the facilities or just walking around to get some exercise. Getting old in my age, I guess.

Hymn is called "Salvation unto Us has Come" by Paul Speratus and is found in The Lutheran Hymnal 1941, Lutheran Book of Worship 1978, Lutheran Worship 1982, Wisconsin Synod's Christian Worship 1993, Eveangelical Lutheran Hymnary 1994, Lutheran Service Book 2006, and Evagelical Lutheran Worship 2006. You might try downloading OneHymn.com which is an ecumenical website for hymns from Lutheran, Episcopalian, Catholic, Methodist, Moravian, Presbyterian, Reformed, Evangelical Covenant publishing houses. For instance ELCA is Augsburg Fortress, LCMS is Concordia, WELS is Northwestern, UMC is Abingdon Cokesbury, PCUSA is Westminister/John Knox/Geneva Press, etc.

Next one is a Lutheran Germanic Chorale not known outside of Lutheranism. Theirs was a false misleading dream who thought God's law was given that sinners might themselves redeem and by their works gain heaven. The Law is but a mirror bright to bring your inbred sin to light that lurks within our nature. Johann Sebatian Bach did a prelude on this tune "Es ist das Heil". I don't know if Cyber Hymnal includes it or not.

Phil/Brushstroke, soul was implied to be emotions and sentient/intellegience(or in animals instinct, thus having souls but no spirit, so they are not allowed in heaven nor are physically ressurrected like humans). Not clear whether soul was DNA passed on to descendants or not. Daimonian translitterated as demon in English was replaced by devil spirits/fallen angels commanded by Satan as 6 star general/admiral/commander in cheif/mob boss who wouldn't get his hands dirtied personally. Intersting that Wierwille, Geer, and Martindale were paranoid about devil spirits, accussing others of being possesed, but they proably were possesed themselves, like the proverbial kettle calling the pot black(no racial epithet intended).

Hungry Mother State Park in Virginia, near Marion is another possibility. Oh, you will find me down in the Reading room on hymnody with Cynic.or Fairy Stone State Park near Martinsville, VA is another one I am familar with.
-
Is it"And Can it be that I should gain" ? If so, it is popular with Methodist and Baptist, but not found in Lutheran hymnals. Told you I have almost every denominational hymnal and companion(trying to get one from the Salvation Army). Also have Contemporary Praise songbooks such as WOW Worship, Maranatha Praise, Songs for Praise and Worship, Integrity's Worship Together series, plus Lutheran, Episcopalian, and Catholic types/versions of CCM, plus 3rd world global hymnody.

Right on. Trinity Hymnal I believe is from Presbyterian(PCA, Orthodox, Evangelical). You're up.

Cynic, the title of the hymn is Christ is made the sure foundation, a Latin hymn translated by John Mason Neale. Henry Smart composed Regent Square; the late Lutheran compser Dale Wood wrote Eden Church as an anthem; and Henry Purcell composed Westminister Abbey for an anthem. BTW, I have several hymnal companions from different denominations. I'll give an easier one. Son of God, love's pure light Radiant beams from your holy face, with the dawn of redeeming grace. Name that hymn. Sorry can't give you the tune, otherwise you would recognize it.

I don't know if Warriors Path State Park near Kingsport,TN would be open or not in early October. When I lived there in 1960's it was only less than 30 minutes from where we lived(just north of Blountville).
-
Giving you all until Tuesday(after Labor Day), then I will give the author and title of the hymn. Cynic, you started this.

Ham, was surprised that someone got Victor Jr.'s goat

Alright, another stanza. Grant we pray to all your faithful All the gifts they ask to gain; What they gain from you forever with the blessed to retain; and here after in your glory evermore with you to reign.
-
Gee, the one category I actually can be involved with and no one else is interested? <_< :( . BTW on TV shows, actually prefer naming minor characters instead of "quotes".

Artist followed by generalist.

Glorious things of thee are spoken(or in Lutheran Book of Worship-Glories of your Name are spoken). My turn. To this temple where we call you, Come O Lord of hosts and stay; Come with all your loving kindness, Hear your people as they pray; And your fullestbenediction shed within these walls today. 3 different tunes:Eden Church, Westminister Abbey, Regent Square.btw Cynic, the previous hymn tune is also known as Austrian Hymn which used to be used for Alles Ober Deuschtland by the Nazis, not sure if VPW ever used it in any Sing Along The Way.
