Name that TV Show [EZ quotes only]
Thomas Loy Bumgarner replied to Raf's topic in Movies, Music, Books, Art
the word "zort" was a dead give away. It's Pinky and the Brain from Animaniacs. You know, I've got to stop watching cartoons. I am going to have anyone else post besides me(already did quotes from Doctor Who). -
Seemed to be an Advent one. btw, Advent this year begins on November 30, St. Andrew's day which falls on Sunday. Bumping this up(Christ the King/Sunday of the Fulfillment of the End Times was celebrated this past Sunday on the 23rd). Will be posting Advent hymns in the Reading room forum.

Title is "All to Jesus I surrender". Taking the rest of the week off, will be back next Monday with a new mystery hymn.

Most Christian denominations offer FREE education classes for introducing the faith to new people(catechism). There are ecumenical DVD's/books such as Nicky Gumbel's Alpha/Questions of Life(supplemented with A Life Worth Living, Challenging Lifestyles, 7 Searching Issues, Heart of Revival, and Jermy Jennings Dynamic Prayer in the Local Church); Rob Weber/Andy Langford/Mark Ralls 3 part series Beginings; Michael Green-Reality; Christian Believer-Knowing God with heart and mind by Ellsworth Kalas; Powersurge by Michael Foss; and Rick Warren-Purpose Driven Life/Thomas Holliday-Foundations in the Christian Faith. In addition, there is Crossways/Divine Drama, and the new ELCA/Augsburg Fortress Book of Faith iniative. The host church pays for the material(no cost to the student) with free meal/refreshments and free childcare/baby-sitting. TWI and the offshoots are more concerned about money than really and truly helping others(fear of bankruptcy and leaders becoming homeless).

want to buy copy of "the cult that snapped"
Thomas Loy Bumgarner replied to potato's topic in About The Way
Potato, you can contact Karl @ex-way.com or write to him at PO Box 320442, Los Gatos,CA 95032. -
Ah, an old Irish blessing for Thanksgiving. . Same to you Kimberly.

Somewhere I read that Wierwille only taught Spiritual atheletes once on Ephesians 6, instead of military terminology and Craig took off and ran with it. It is said VPW later rejected that interpretation and reverted back to military usage, but Craig wouldn't let go of the Olympic-atheletic version(other scriptures do use things like running the course like a marathon, but it was inappropiate for Ephesians).

TWI Financial Statement/Self-Supporting Twigs
Thomas Loy Bumgarner replied to Goey's topic in About The Way
I read the Ohio report and nearly burst out laughing at TWI's articles of incorporation where it states it's purpose is"for the improvement of spiritual, moral and intelectual of it's members". Wonder if they served koolaid to the Secretary of Ohio and they now claim they are a church. Hmm! Bet VP is spining in his grave. -
will give you until tommorrow afternoon to answer.

If I remember correctly, the lead was to be danced by a male Broadway dancer(supposedly homosexual) and the female lead suggested Craig as the substitute(maybe he "bagged"her in the dressing room?) <_<

Next up is a popular Gospel song recently recorded about a decade ago by Israel Houghton from Lakewood Baptist Church(Joel Osteen is pastor there). Text is by Judson Van de Venter and Tune is by Winfield Weeden. It has 4 stanzas and a refrain. Omitting the first 6 words of each stanza(giving the tune name would be a give away). 1. All to Him I freely give; I will ever love and trust Him, in His presence daily live.(omitting refrain). 2.Humbly at His feet I bow, worldly pleasures all forsaken, Take me, Jesus, take me now. 3. Make me Saviour wholly thine. Let me feel the Holy Spirit, truly now that you are mine. 4. Lord, I give myself to you; Fill me with your love and power, let your blessing fall on me.

Neat pictures and 2 of them are Scandinavian Lutheran churches.

Alleluia, Sing to Jesus- a Communion and/or Ascension hymn. Will post hymn proably Friday.

I think Ray Stevens and Mr.Ham would be an improvement over "The Present Truth" and The Singing Ladies of The Way.
-
In addition to Episcopal/Anglican, I would suggest ELCA(Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) or LCMS(Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod). Worship style is similar, both have traditional as well as contemporary styles of worship/music.

He wouldn't happen to be a football player for NY Jets? Cynic, congrats, you have really stumped me.

Next hymn text is by Robert Robinson, sung to 2 melodies; Warrenton(southern Appalachian tune in 4/4 time), and the more familiar tune Nettleton from James Wyeth's Repository of Sacred Music, Part II in 3/4 time. omiting 1st line of stanza 1. Tune my heart to sing your grace; Streams of mercy never ceasing, call for songs of loudest praise. While the hope of endless glory fills my heart with joy and love, teach me ever to adore you, May I still your goodness prove. (metrical index is 8787D). Will post more tommorrow.

The Way of Eating in Europe (well UK actually)
Thomas Loy Bumgarner replied to Twinky's topic in In the Kitchen
Twinky and gc, thanks for the invite. I went to the grocery store yesterday(Saturday) and picked up from the deli the small already prepared pork roast for one to eat and bought a can of White House Applesauce(commercial regional brand). An early Happy Holidays. -
Title is Have your own Way, Lord. Will post next hymn on Monday.
-
I bet it was better than The Singing Ladies of The Way videos.
-
Shoot, I still say Darlene Czech of Hillsongs(Sydney, Australia) and The PlanetShakers' song All I want is You is far better than The Singing Ladies of The Way(can anyone say Lawrence Welk for geriatric Jesus Freaks).

The Way of Eating in Europe (well UK actually)
Thomas Loy Bumgarner replied to Twinky's topic in In the Kitchen
gc, the Moors? isn't that like swamps with quicksand ? Chef Ramsay is an excellent cook but cusses/uses profanity way too much, especially with the "F" slang term(fornication) and can have a very bad temper. I am getting ready for traditional Thanksgiving with turkey, bread stuffing, mashed potatoes, dinner rolls, either green beans or peas, and for desert banana pudding. O next time you or Twinky have roasted pork, I'll be glad to consume it. -

What's your opinon of Gordon Ramsay and his style of cooking? In the last 3 or 4 years on Fox and BBC America, his shows have been ratings hits(Kitchen Nightmares, Hell's Kitchen, and The "F" Word).
