Dr. Wierwille meets Doctor Who I know, have VP as Jacob Marley and Craig as Ebeneezer Scrooge in "A Christmas Carol". LCM: Bah humbug to Jesus Christ as God. Problem is VPW and LCM would have tried exorcising the 3 ghosts of Christmas as devil spirits and never would learn their lessons. Mark, bravo on your parody from Seuss. Wonder if the TWI spys get it?

OMG! I watch too much TV with cable from Charter Communications. Need to get a social life, or just regular life . -
The other 2 stanzas in German/Deutsche. 2.Stille nacht, heilige nacht! Now in Spanish/Espanol: 1.

I will let someone else come up with the title of the show. Besides I am busy through Thursday. ps check out the hymn thread. -
ps Bon Noel, Buon Natale Since George tried to stump you all with Latin of O Come, all you faithful(Adeste Fidelis), I thought I would take a familar Christmas/Nativity hymn and post it in 2 foreign languages(Cynic and George, give others a chance to answer this by December 26, afterwards either of you may reply). Franz Joseph Mohr(1792-1848), A Tyrolean Catholic priest. Translated by John Young(1820-1885). Melody/tune by Franz Xavier Gruber(1787-1863), organist. Metrical index=668866. Stille nacht, helige nacht! Alles Schlaft, einsam wacht, nur das traute, hochheilige paar: holder knabe in lockogen haar, Schlaf in himmlischer ruf(repeat line). Twinky or Evan, or anyone else. Take a guess. Will post more later on today.

Either Anthony Boudain(?) or Andrew Zimmerman. If correct, do I win $1 million dollars? -
"ministers" -- i don't know where this post belongs
Thomas Loy Bumgarner replied to excathedra's topic in About The Way
Mark Clarke, actually The Holy Roman Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox church were 1 and the same until about 1000 AD, though as early as 600 AD/CE there were some disagreements between them understanding the minute, trivial details on doctrine(how to define the trinity and 2 natures of Jesus the Christ), and the role of the Pope as leader instead of one of the patriarchs co-equal to Instanbul, Jerusalem, Egypt, etc. Both have the same type of hierarchy, and is modified in Episcopalian/Anglican, Lutheran(not all factions agree to this), United Methodist, and Moravian. -

O come, o come Emmanuel Hark the Glad sound On Jordan's Banks the Baptist Cries Hark! a thrilling voice is sounding O Savior rend the heavens wide Once He came in blessing Light one candle to watch for Messiah Awake, awake and greet the new morn Lost in the night Creator of the stars of night/O Lord who made the strary skies Come now O Prince of peace People look East, the time is near Blessed be the God of Israel Hosanna through Advent My soul proclaims your greatness Sing out my soul Each winter as the year grows older He came down that we may have life There's a voice in the wilderness crying Wait for the Lord whose day is near The Angel Gabriel from heaven came All Earth is hopeful/waiting This most but not all or every single Advent hymn. An early Merry Christmas. Will post some familiar Nativity hymns between the 26th and 30th, and again from January 2-5. Feliz Navidad, Froeliche Weinachten.

Instead of posting more guess what Advent hymns, I will list the titles: The Advent of our God O Lord, how shall I meet you Come o precious ransom come Rejoice all believers Prepare the royal highway Keep your lamps trimmed and burning Did you feel the mountains tremble I looked up and I saw my Lord coming Lo! He comes with clouds descending Days of Elijah Savior of the nations come Comfort, now all my people Come now long expected Jesus Wake, awake for night is flying/Sleepers awke, a voice astounds us Lift up you gates/Fling wide the door The King shall come when morning dawns

Did you get your HO - HO Card from the Board of Directors?
Thomas Loy Bumgarner replied to Bolshevik's topic in About The Way
Maybe Grandpa Sr. but there lies grandson in Miss. The nightmare continues. Let's pray VPW the 2nd doesn't marry anyone named Dorethea/Dotsie my bad(no disrespect to his grandmother intended). -
Now I am thinking of that late 60's song "And Merry Chistmas and a Happy New Year". Was that by John Lennon?

OMG! Groucho, did you have to say that? Now I will have nightmares of Wierwille speaking. Something along the lines of Twilight Zone/Night Gallery and Rod Serling is narrating. <_< -
George, you gave Latin(which Wierwille said don't bother learning it)). Tiune is Adeste Fidelis. If you had given stanzas 2, 3, or 4 in English, I think some of the others would have gotten it. Told George I would wait until tonight. Title is "O come, all you faithful". Will post next Advent hymn on Thursday.

I'm waiting for my T-Bone steak, mashed potatoes, garlic bread, vanilla ice cream, and banana pudding. I maybe 54 but sometimes I feel like 1,000 Methusaleh.
-
Extra clues are Author/translator is John Wade/Frederick Oakley, tune is of French origin; 7 stanzas of which 4 are familar; this is a Christmas hymn. Hope these clues help you George.
-
Most Protestant hymnals have either 4 or 5 stanzas but Hymnal 1982 and Evangelical Lutheran Worship(2006) use all 7 stanzas. George, u r up.(I know it's shorthand!).
-
Please don't barbeque squirel, they are my friends(at least they don't judge me)

Next Advent hymn is a French Processional plainsong chant(very familar) with Latin titled tune Veni Emmanuel in E minor(phrgian mode). starting with stanza 2. (omitting 1st 2 words)O Wisdom from on high, embracing all things far and near: in strength and beauty come and stay; teach us your will and guide our way. Entire hymn is 7 stanzas based on John Neale's English translation.
-
Technically that is a Christmas hymn from Episcopal Hymnal 1982 based on one of the tunes mentioned. That version is from Sweeden and in 4/4 time, but the original German tune by Praetorius is in 3/4(also used for That Easter Day was bright and What Star is This). The title is On Jordan's Banks the Baptist Cries. Thought Cynic or Twinky would have answered. Another one later on today.

Either Hell's Kitchen or Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares. -
Try looking under the links to groups similar to TWI. Personally I would suggest mainline Christian denominations in your local area.

Cynic, Twinky, George, any one reading this thread?
