Name that TV Show [EZ quotes only]
Thomas Loy Bumgarner replied to Raf's topic in Movies, Music, Books, Art
Bet it is a 1960's military comedy, and that's all I am going to say. bye. -
Sorry but got to add my 4 cents worth. First, proably Wierwille gave Martindale a stole, if anything. 2nd A mantle is a shelf over a fireplace . Mark, the closest thing to a cloak is the cope used in Catholic and Anglican/Episcopalian entrances for Matins or Vespers. Back to topic at hand. We now return you to our regular program already in progress

VPW and the Snowstorm - What do you believe?
Thomas Loy Bumgarner replied to Jim's topic in About The Way
voted #5 with 3 as a back up. btw, I bet if VPW saw something white on gas pumps, it was either crop dusting or manufacturing plant with air pollution. Or he was an early LSD experiment user, long before Timothy o"Leary. -
stanza 3. As they offered gifts most rare at the cradle, rude and bare, so may we with holy joy, pure and free from sin's alloy, all our costliest treasures bring, Christ to you our heavenly king. 4. Holy Jesus, every day keep us in the narrow way; and when earthly things are past, bring our ransomed souls at last where they need no star to guide, where no clouds your glory hide. 5. In the heavenly country bright need they no created light; You it's light, it's joy, it's crown, you its sun which goes not down; there forever may we sing Alleluias to our King. Giving all of you until Thursday morning to reply. O btw, Happy New Year 2009. Thomas

Returning to the original purpose of this thread. Next hymn is from Epiphany. words are by William Dix(1837-1898). Tune is Dix(based on German chorale Truer Heiland) by conrad Kocher(1786-1872). Metrical index is 777777. omitting the first 6 words, Stanza 1. did the guiding star behold; as with joy they hailed its light, leading onward beaming bright; so most gracious Lord may we evermore be led to you. 2. As with joyful steps they sped, Savior to your lowly bed, there to bend on lowly kneel before you whom heaven and earth adore; so may we with willing feet ever seek your mercy seat. Will post the other 3 stanzas tommorrow afternoon.

Name that TV Show [EZ quotes only]
Thomas Loy Bumgarner replied to Raf's topic in Movies, Music, Books, Art
George, that is not completely true. But when clues start stacking up and are real simple, and no one else is answering, then I reply, sometimes with a correct answer, sometimes with a silly reply. btw, I am typing a new name the hymn for Epiphany. Doctor Who rules. -
Vic the grandson kicks off new waycorps program
Thomas Loy Bumgarner replied to GrouchoMarxJr's topic in About The Way
VP the 2nd does not have a theological degree unlike his grandfather who did have legitimate Bachelor's and Master's degrees but rejected his education. Grandson should have pursued a Master's degree in his major and not wasted his time to reinvent TWI. I blame John Paul and Doug McM*ll*n for this. Why didn't they come out in the open and play clergy for this off-shoot instead of getting the grandson mixed up and involved in this? -
Pond, nothing personal but if you believe real names would help, why not follow your own advice? btw, My user name is my real name(Thomas Loy Bumgarner). Hope, sorry you and John got poor treatment here. Proably the reason G*l*n left here. Had no quarrels with either of them, but they were polite in their posts.

Meant to add : The snow laid on the ground; and Love came down at Christmas. Epiphany guessing hymns this weekend.

Come rejoicing, praises voicing Away in a manger He whom shepherds once came praising I am so glad each Christmas eve Go tell it on the mountain Angels we have heard on high Twas in the moon of wintertime All hail to you, o blessed morn A stable lamp is lighted Once in royal David's city On Christmas night all Christians sing Midnight stars make bright the skies Peace came to Earth Love has come-a light in the darkness That Boy-Child of Mary In the Bleak midwinter Jesus, what a wonderful child O sing of Christ whose birth Where shepherds lately knelt O Jesus Christ, your manger is See amid the winter snow Gentle Mary laid her child Break forth, o beauteous heavenly light God loves me dearly Isn't He beautiful? That beautiful name I heard the bells on Christmas day How great our joy While shepherds watched their flocks O hearken you who would believe Sing we now of Christmas The birthday of the King Mary did you know that your baby boy O Holy night There's a song in the air Morning Star, what cheering sight All is Christmas This is Christmas Like a rose in winter while not every Christmas hymn and song, proably more than TWI, S&TFI, CFFM, etc. would ever be familar.

"It's the Word Keeds" vs. "It's the Money Keeds"
Thomas Loy Bumgarner replied to Oakspear's topic in About The Way
Groucho, you are right. Had Walter, John S., and Gary Curtis been VP's seceesors, I still would be in TWI today(includes Ralph D.) and if ROA were still going on today, yep spend money like crazy. -
TWI proably celebrated Christmas during the 60's but by 1975 follwed JW and WCOG(Armstrong) theology with Alexander Hislop and Ralph Woodrow's books on Babylon Mystery Religion/2 Babylons. Add on Lamsa, Pillai, Errico, Bullinger, Ernest Martin, Schoenheit's One God and One Lord. This does not include VPW;s spin zone/paradigm/interpretation of these other author's.

will list Christmas hymns on Monday(both familar and new).

CHANGE?(he says in his Maynard Krebs voice croaking). We Lutherans don't do change(except as money offering). Dear Hope, wishing you a better New Year. I understand some of your situation. Been struggling financially this year, but still trusting God to help me. Take care.

Paw, sorry about the vitrol against you. The one time I lost my temper here last summer as relates to Kristen's book and the attacks against her, if those posters had been my customers as administrator, I not only would have banned them, I would have informed the authorities about them. Likewise when Ralph D was on radio broadcast, those same posters lambasted his views. I know you are sick and tired of this bickering, like some of us are still 2 year olds throwing temper tantrums like 2 former TWI presidents. You need a sabbattical from this. If it closes, it will be like losing an old friend. Any possibilities that moderators take over as co-administrators?

Silent Night is the correct answer.
-
Mark, I think in 1973 it was still called Christmas but after 1975, it was left up to the twig whether it was called Christmas or Happy Holidays. I was at ECU only from late August until Feb./winter quarter.
-
I am now granting either George of Cynic to answer this one(hint the 2nd stanza in English was a;ready given in an earlier post). Merry Christmas :P :D  :)

will a Tardis do? Paw, sorry you are experiencing burn-out. Wishing you and the others joyous holidays.
