Name that TV Show [EZ quotes only]
Thomas Loy Bumgarner replied to Raf's topic in Movies, Music, Books, Art
BSG(revival of 1970's/80's series). If you can figure out what the 3 letters mean, then more power. -
As a final response, while most hymns were Lutheran or Episcopalian, some were Roman Catholic, Moravian, and Contemporary Praise. I would have accepted songs from CFFM, S&TFI, CR&F, COF, plus materials from Integrity, Maranatha, WOW Worship, and any denominational or ecumenical hymnal. I am glad I could contribute to this thread. Thomas Loy Bumgarner

Abingdon/Cokesbury publishes The Upper Room; Augsburg Fortress has Light For Today; Forward Movement has Day By Day; American Lutheran Publicity Bureau has For All The Saints; Moravian Daily Texts; and Phillip Pffateicher's Festivals and Commenerations; plus Lesser Feasts and Fasts from Church Publishing. All use scripture(s) on daily basis plus short commentaries for the theme(s)

Yeah, he lives in nearby Newton-Conover and met him only once for a funeral held for a friend in Granite Falls over a week and 1/2 ago. He has a loose affiliation with M&JT here in Hickory. Not sure if DL knows him and his wife.

Cynic, your thread was a worthy effort. Just sorry very few other people showed interest. O well, I tried to keep up with interesting hymns. Hope others appreciated yours, George's, and my imput. So closes this thread.

Most of those quotes are between Jethro and Jed, last is between Jane Hathaway and Milburn Drysdale. Too much time on my hands watching TV Land, American Life Television Network, and Boomerang(spun off from Cartoon Network) . I may in the near future post more on this thread if some of you will post some hymns(gospel, praise, spiritual, European, Global) on Cynic's thread on "Name That Hymn".(I can name that hymn tune is 5 notes, Kathie Lee). -
Twinky, I believe the land is in North(not South)Carolina in eastern part of the state(family owned). Howard and Imogene live in the old farmhouse(that is if they are still alive). yes, the Reheards house was quickly purchased after Bo and Stanley left TWI and moved to Atlanta.

Besides the internet-what else scared them?
Thomas Loy Bumgarner replied to finallyunderstand's topic in About The Way
Proably, Federal, State, and County government. Maybe it is time for 60 Minutes, 20/20, Primetime, Dateline, 48 Hours, Frontline, O'Reilly Factor, Hannity, Huckabee, Greta Van Sustern, Geraldo, Charlie Rose, Bill Moyers, Glen Beck to investigate TWI. -
Jim, I think Howard Allen does(that is if he is still alive). Rosie bought her own house which is on Southland (?) Drive or Road, on the back side of the property close to New Knoxville. I think TWI owns over 2 square miles between Shelby County Road and Ohio state highway 29. From Southland to Botkins Road, or portions of that.

The answer to the last hymn is We 3 Kings of Orient Are. I am sorry that most of you chose not to participate. Again any hymnal or Christian Songbook(TWI or offshoots/splinter groups) or Contemporary Praise Music from WOW Worship Songbooks(red, green, blue, orange, yellow, aquamarine, purple, brown); Integrity's Worship Together series or its predessor Hosana/Alleuia; Maranatha Praise Chorus books, etc. would have been allowable.

ah, doesn't anyone want to play with me? Will give the refrain(oh btw Kyrs you can use any hymnal or songbook of Christian origin, including sing Along The Way, or from CR&F, CFFM, S&TFI, COF, Emmaus Road Bible Fellowship, etc.). OH, Star of Wonder, star of night, star with royal beauty bright; westward leading, still proceeding, guide us to your perfect light. Title will be revealed on Friday.

Bob and Dottie were over in Great Britain last year. Some here on Greasespot have bitter memories regarding them as relates to LCM and his adultery actions. Last I heard was they are back at HQ. I personally never knew them. oBTW, welcome to the cafe. May I get you something to drink?

Cynic, Evan, Twinky, or anyone else want to hazzard a guess? The winner gets to take a trip to Las Vegas(notice I didn't say I would pay for it )

"You'll be a grease spot by midnight"
Thomas Loy Bumgarner replied to Twinky's topic in About The Way
Surmissing what others would have reported, Craig proably would have gone ballastic and likely would have killed said person on the spot. Most likely why everone was terrified. Chris Geer would have done similar. VP was smarter than that. -
Sorry I haven't been back to this topic. In a similar vein(vain?), the next hymn is by John Hopkins, in e minor with refrain in G Major. It is 5 stanzas with metrical index of 88446. Omitting first 6 words: 1.bearing gifts we travel so far-field and fountain, moor and mountain-following yonder star(will give refrain at end of post). 2. Born a king on Bethlehem's plain; gold I bring to crown him again, king forever, ceasing never over us to reign. 3. Frankincense to offer have I; Incense owns a deity near. Prayer and praising, all people raising, worship him, God on high. 4. Myrruh is mine: its bitter perfume breathes a life of gathering gloom- sorrowing, sighing, bleeding, dying, sealed in the stone cold tomb. 5. Glorious nowbehold Him rise, King and God and sacrifice; Alleluia(repeat)! Earth to heaven replies. Will give until Friday for you to determine the title. Otherwise, I will give the refrain then, and then 24 hours to give final guess.

VPW and the Snowstorm - What do you believe?
Thomas Loy Bumgarner replied to Jim's topic in About The Way
Paw and mods, seriously it is time to end and close off this thread. If Mike, What the Hey, White Doce and Oldiesman want to discuss PFAL then direct them to the doctrine forum. We heard and got replies about snowstorms with polling. sorry only 40 people responded to the poll. -
VPW and the Snowstorm - What do you believe?
Thomas Loy Bumgarner replied to Jim's topic in About The Way
why according to Mike, WD, and OM the desert fathers were heretics doing spin and personal paradigms, or at least they would claim VPW would say such things, or have I put words into their mouths? -

If he had done homwork like this in high school, college, or seminary, not only would he flunk but proably in the later 2 cases would have been expelled immediately by both his professors and the institution. -

Does anyone remember the bag pipe Lady?
Thomas Loy Bumgarner replied to finallyunderstand's topic in About The Way
There is or was a person called Bagpipes who is/was a member here at the cafe. Was this the same person?
