The thread that prompted this offshoot the election of an African-American president was mentioned. I haven't been keeping up with that thread so I don't know what ever came of it. I know I would have voted for Colin Powel had he gone and run. I felt of all the possibilities that year he was the one that exhibited morals, and ethics that would have not only set a stellar example for young African-Americans but all young Americans. But as it usually is the good ones don't run. Let me try this again I will try and direct you to the thread. Nontheistic congressman link

Back to the point of women juggling parent/guardian/professional. I will say as a single parent this is hard. I don't think I could handle any more authority in my life than I currently have. Sometimes I wish it would stop. I know now, why God made it a man and a woman that work together to raise the kids and manage the household. It's hard as hell to do it yourself. But the beauty of the makeup of a woman is that she is equipped with that ability to multi-task which helps in managing it all if that is what is necessary. This weekend was one of those weekends where I wanted to relinquish all authority and live in my Van down by the river. So in considering my melt downs as I am bombarded with all my pressure, I don't have a problem with a woman in office that had nanny's help her with her children. That arrangement would leave her open to be able to focus on the important matters of state. On the other hand I wouldn't want to see that woman totally neglect the parental relationship between herself and her children all together either. It's a balance.

WEll I am interested still. I just haven't felt like I have had anything vital to add but have been enjoying reading the points of view that others have.

Rascal you make many great points. Maybe what you are stating is why so many way marriages didn't last outside the confines of the Organization.

Speaking of first ladies. I think that Laura Bush brought back into the white house what Hilary Clinton failed to provide. A sense of class.

Unfortunately I think Hilary ran the show when Bill was in office. I too have a hard time envisioning a woman as the prez. I am trying to see how it might work but my old Way mind makes it difficult.

Johniam tell her we would love to have her as a regular poster. She sounds like a very intelligent woman. geeze I can't leave here for very long without missing something. RainbowsGirl - Loving your insight here. You posed an intriguing question. I agree that there is much that is inbred or part of the wiring of a man and also a woman. For instance, it is said that women are able to multi-task better than men. Since we have to keep up with all of our little people and still manage to keep up with everyhing else we are doing in life I would think that God would have to have given us that ability as part of our make-up. But then there are areas that are cultural or learned. For instance when I was a little girl, it was thought that women couldn't perform math skills as well as men but we have erased this stereotype in the last couple of decades and many of us are using our math skills and proving to be formidable. Culture says women are catty and gosippy, and so we see these little drama queens carrying out that stereotype. But with a little instruction we see some girls breaking the cycle. And believe me I used to work in a coffee shop when I was 19, and those old me gossipped more than any woman I knew.
