I have a friend who spent 26 years in Jail with a man who was sentenced with the same type of offense and that guy spent 6 years in Jail. It destroyed him and the girl was consenting. Didn't seem fair. Maybe they should put the girls parents in jail for not keeping a better eye on her, or raising her with some morals.

Well being in the way from my preteen years until I was an adult my tradition was some party and praying in the new year afterward. I did the same to my kids we went to the Way stuff and that was our tradition. We have been out of the Way for 4 years now and we have started a new tradition: I have a house full of kids and we celebrate kid style. This year my house is too slummy and small so we are going to get a hotel room for the night at the holidome and swim until the pool closes and see the new year in there. I love our kid parties and so do all the kids.

I have nothing to say that hasn't already been stated. My thoughts are with you. have a wonderful holiday time with your daughter. I truly am sorry

congrats. I got my grades today too. I took Linear Algebra too. Got a B as well. I had an A in the final but B's on all the tests up to that point. Got A's in every other class. Discrete Math - A, Educational Psychology - A and PE - A I imagine your core subject is CIS. Mine are math/CIS (even though I have worked in the IT industry for 17 years and am currently writing programs for Sprint - Just figured it would be nice to have the piece of paper.) What are you taking next semester? I have calc based Physics (I am excited about this class - I know major nerd), Modern Geometry, Cluster Programming, and another Secondary ed class. Moryan, Don't waste any more time. From you post I see you have made up your mind and she has already stated that she wouldn't marry you, so don't waste time on something that wouldn't pan out even if you wanted it to. Now George don't scare the kid with regard to relationships in general. I was married and I didn't I fly off the handle. Not that I didn't argue with my spouse once in a while but it wasn't unreasonable and disagreements will occur. I divorced to save my life. Long story but yesterday was my 3rd anniversary of a life saving heart operation that I didn't get sooner or even know I needed sooner because my husband told me that I was disobeying him if I saw anymore doctors. See my 360 post if you want the entire story. After the divorce I saw a doctor and got the tumor removed from my right ventricle. Marriage in general doesn't have to be that way. Companionship and working together is what it should be about and if two people work together it can be a wonderful thing. Sure there will be disagreements but you work through them without flying off the handle. Moryan, Please don't let one relationship that isn't exemplary sour you for the whole idea and concept of relationships all together. They way made many of us unreasonable. lol. Even hard headed. Hang in there you have plenty of time to find the right person and have a healthy relationship with that person.

Ryan, I was raised in the Way. I was, at one time, like your girlfriend. Nothing you can say or do will make it change until she is ready to see the deception. Believe me, my mother (who got me in the Way) tried to tell me how corrupt it was but it took me a while to see it myself - I had given my whole life to it and really didn't want to admit it was a waste in any way. I only wanted to see the good. This is most likely what your girlfriend is doing, it sounds like she has had a lot of time invested into the organization as well. The bigger issue here is whether or not you really DO have a good relationship. Think about it. You said that your relationship with her is good except when you or she mentions the way, devil spirits, Astronomy, etc. And it's alright if you bite your tongue. Don't you get to voice your beliefs? But even more concerning is the etc. The etc may be a small etc right now, but as your relationship continues she will most likely find more to add to the etc. And that unfortunately is her not necessarily the Way. It might be worth seeing a couples counselor and get their take on the relationship. You might learn things about your gf and yourself. Best to you

dog gone it I was trying to get that record. But I am less than half her age. Oh Well. I got 2 more years to graduate. Kudos to her. Learning SHOULD be a lifetime experience.

Thanks White Dove I think I have heard that from a number of people and my email seems to be getting in again. The timing couldn't have been worse.

Since sending Jim an email requesting his side of the story I have been blocked from the Oddlist. I will get to the bottom of all this. It matters not to me one way or the other if I am re-instated if I was blocked to prevent the existence of this tread from coming out in the group. I still want to get Jim's side of the story.

I can only attest to what Jim wrote in welcoming Roy back to the group. He was very kind and the group was very supportive of Roy. I have to say unless I hear Jim's side of the story (Which I have written to Jim and asked him to provide me) I will not side with either. Jim has been accepting, but as Tom said the group is not about spouting religious doctrine and although we sometimes get on a doctrinal topics it is short lived. The group is somewhat of a support group mainly and we aren't out there to be preached to. That is the one thing I like about GS as well. I have found ways to chit chat with ex-twi people without having to get into the doctrine and the hurt. I restrict my reading to the open chats and the just plain silly stuff. Then I don't have to be bombarded with religious doctrine that I may or may not agree with. I want to leave the Way behind not be reminded of it every day. But on the other hand I don't want to lose the good friends I had made while in. The Onelist or as we affectionately call it the oddlist is a support group if you will. We support each other, but we stay away from doctrine for the most part. The beliefs on that list range from agnostic to Way like doctrine and everything in between. So preaching doctrine doesn't work on that group. Not that it doesn't have it's place elsewhere. We don't want to be preached to we just are out there to have fun. In Jim's defence I will not buy into Roy's accusations until jim himself presents to me his side of the story and I would encourage you all to do the same. You never know what has really transpired until you get all sides. I have seen Roy being welcomed with open arms on the Oddlist and with great love and heart. If this is the way he shows his affection back I question his intentions.

My second child would go to children's fellowship with a woman named Karen. One day he quoted Eph 6:1 after learning it in Children's fellowship. He said mom I learned that the bible says "Children Obey Karen in the Lord."

McF@dden huh? Hard a#$ jerk. He was our leader in Charlotte NC. We could never do anything right and ended up leaving the corps while under his leadership. Well my ex left and when he did Vince told me to leave him. I thought that was weird and told him I couldn't break one commitment to keep another. So, since I wouldn't leave him my corps status changed too. I will say of all the leaders I had Vince was the only one who allowed me to use my singing talent and allow me to perform for the believers. Until then and afterward I wasn't "spritually fit" enough to do that. But Vince f$@king around on Brenda? That is a shock to me! Brenda is actually a very sweet person and very beautiful.

I was in the first group the horney's coordinated at LEAD. I really liked Jacque, as she was my coordinator and challenged me, and as a result I had a blast out there. But when she was our Corps Coordinator my last year in residence she and Ed were hard nosed. I felt like they were completely different people from the one's I knew at LEAD. I will say that since her book has nothing to do with the Way I might read it. The review makes it sound like a good book for older kids to read and gather some history in a fun way. Believe me being one that hated history growing up, this would have been one way of getting historical information in my head. I never knew she had that talent.
