    Evan watch....

Do any of you know Gisele Casey from Matairie La. I don't know her well but have been praying for her that she is OK Ted Ferrell If any of you know anything and would rather email me ferrellsplace@cs.com
  2. hmmm far as I can figure we did over 500. Halfway through my stuff I got it and it will come in handy for future work. The CD copying is easier but labels and inserts still drive me nuts.I have the laser label printer but you can't put enough track and other info on the darn thing About all it's good for is Title and Artist. Did you ever do copies of your work if not and you would like copies send to me and I will do for you.
  3. Yeah Kathy Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame is a blast and as you well know you could spend a week in there and not digest all the sights and sounds. Meant to tell ya Oakwwod Studio has a new and better CD Copy machine. It's a hardwwre stand alone Alesis and this baby is great.A lot faster than using the computer for CD copy plus it gives clean copies each time.
  4. A la There is another female jazz pianist that many folks are not aware of. Her name was Dortohy Donegan a two fisted boogie woogie and jazz player that had a powreful left hand. When she hit those ivories the dang piano almost caught on fire. She was a fovorite performer at The Theartrical Grill in Cleveland Oh.and many a night you could find me at the bar( The stage was above the bar) digging her rockin'piano. Rock and roll is only an extension of 40's boogie woogie and rhythm and blues ( in those years it was called race music). There was a cat from that era named Louis Jordan and if you should listen to his music you will hear what I mean.
  5. A La Thanks for sharing about Mary Lou, Not that I'd forgot about her but when you brought up her name it sure rang a bell. Shoot I was not even aware she was dead. (I was sorta out of the loop in 1981) Her music and recordings wiil forever be in the pages of jazz history. Happy your hubby found out about her.
  6. Yep that thar shotgun was a gift from a pretty neat guy. Do you know him? Say didn't The Beatles do a song called Rocky Racoon maybe if played that they would take off.or I could play Holy Moly one of the great songs of all times eh!
  7. ha ha ha ha that's cute...don't have any coon outfits but I do have a double barrel shotgun BAM!! BAM !! oh my gawd i just shot the neighbors cat.
  8. ha ha ha I can just see your neighbor doing that trash scene.cause I've been there down that Sometimes Iv'e run out in my bath robe when I hear the truck commin' I can't put out the trash til morning cause the racoons here are busy little critters and no matter what I try to keep them from turning over the cans they find a way to turm em' over Those coons work as family 4 or 5 at a time.
  9. Sudo ...yes I know George plays sax and clarinet with a band that does the great old standards.See what George posted about Stranger On The Shore.I got a charge out of George bringing it up Thought I was the only one who knew the lyric rewrite ha ha
  10. uh! oh! think I had better be quiet about Kathy's picture enough said on that ha ha Talk about nostalgia just heard from Nancy M and she informed me Skip just finished doing an album with a group called Cold Blood. Skip had done recording with them before the New Knoxville scene .Skip wrote a lot of the tunes for this new recording. For those of you that don't know Skip M.is one of the best tenor sax player's and all around musician this world has ever seen and I count myself very blessed to have recorded some tunes with Skip. Thought you all might like to know
  11. Rick that's my man Fats.D on thw other one and who else is playing on The Hirt version the clarinet sounding like P Fountain cause the two of them did do a few sessions together New Orleans has given us so many wonderful musicians. One of the greats of all times Louis Armstrong and one that used tha N.O. sound I use to watch and listen to for hours At Lake Tahoe. Louis Prima and Kellie Smith with Sam Butera. We were playing the early shift 1.pm till 6 pm Louis was on the late shift and many a night I'd still be in the Sahara Loungs til 4 am enjoying every moment listening to Prima Kellie and Sam. Gawd!! what a fun band they were. Louis P.used that New Orleans fast shuffle rythm that you just can't help yourself from tapping your feet and clapping your hands along with the music. More recently New Orleans has given us another one of her son's Harry Connick and his New Orleans roots are there for all to hear.Think his dad was the N.O.D.A. Kathy loved the picture but which one are you ha ha.There that ought to get you all fired up.
  12. Been all of 6 hours now since I wrote anything more ha ha ha I've been thinking and praying for New Orleans and how much I love that city it's culture and the music you can hear going up and down Bourbon St. in and around The French Quarter. One style of music that was born and grew up there is trad.Dixieland. Can you dig it listening to a band that has a trumpet a clarinet a slide trombone a piano a stand up bass a tenor banjo and a rock em'sock em'drummer. Now there's some good down home southern cookin',.better than collard greens, red beans and rice with lots of hot sauce. As I watch on TV all that's happened to all them fine folk down there it breaks my heart and on that about all I can add at this time is Do You Know What It Means To Miss New Orleans. New Orleans has given us some of the greatest jazz musicians that has ever walked the face of this earth. And although the song refrain I hear this day is When The Saints Go Marchin In. I know in my heart the people of New Orleans with it's many diverse cultures will pull together and from this terrible tragedy they will make it through as they hear Pete Fountain playin' Just A Closer Walk With Thee God Be With Our New Orleans
  13. hiway29 I've read all of your posts and have gained a lot of knowledge about the film industry and also you are a great artist George you are playing in my kind of band since the boys know the real lyrics to Stanger On The Shore "She Was Strange In The Water But She Was....." and etc stc.
  14. Something I just saw on the news.Down in New Orleans they found and rescued Fats Domino. He is 77 years old now. Man that cat can rock and roll and has sold over 110 million recordings. The man is one of a kind and was an orignal R&B Artist. When working the club scene I did a bunch of his songs like Ain't That A Shame.I wanna Walk You Home. I'm Walkin' Blue Monday, Blueberry Hill and Walking To New Orleans which kinda hurts my heart right now thinking about those poor folks in The Big Easy but sure am glad they found Fats and that he is OK See I warned you all about getting me started ha! ha!
  15. Ah! yes A Summer Place Iv'e always loved that tune. There are lyrics to that song and later on around 1965 The Letterman did a vocal rendition. Even The Ventures put their twang to it. In the 50's and 60's there were several instumental's that made the top ten. Anyone recall Prez Prado's Cherry Pink And Apple Blossom White or Jimmy Dorsey's So Rare and a couple more I sure did love Acker Bilks Stranger On The Shore and last but not least Ebb Tide. Now you guys don't get me on a roll on this stuff cause I will talk your ear off.
  16. Kathy Johnny Smith was and still is a well respected jazz guitar man.Far as I know he still lives in Cos Co,He owened a music store there and played now and than aound The Springs I sat him with him once and sang a couple of old jazz standards. That was a thrill I shall never forget.Johhny Smith girl could he ever play. Can you find anything on him?
  17. Well I'll add my two cents worth about Les Paul.He was the first to use what we call in the recoding bizz.overdubbing. Now mind you in those days there were no four.eight.sixteen or 24 track recorders. Les used two track recorders and kept transfering the tracks from one recorder to another playing all the parts to get the sound he wanted..And his wife Mary Ford was not to shabby either she added some nifty vocals to the mix. Was it not Gibson that named a guitar after him. Speking of guitar pickers anyone recall Johnny Smith
  18. Hey Hammeroni; Been there done that ha ha Think they are still looking for me at Pat Obrien's.

Geez!! that was 30 years ago how time does fly by. Makes me feel like an old f_ _ t Got your new address from you know who.Took her awhile to find it cause she had it stuck in a old hat somewhere ha ha ha. Take care my friend Ted F.
  21. About Dotsie; Have been aware of her condition for sometime now.She has stopped eating or drinking fluids and I have been told she is just plain tired of the fight. I was a guest many times in her home and always treated vey kindly by this most wondeful hostess, Cliff.Kathy and I went to visit with her last year and she still wanted to share something with us.She had us go to her room and brought out some pecans someone had sent her and nothing would do unless we took some. Her Godly nature has always been to give and share with others. One thing that happened the day we went to see her. I had not seen her for many years so I got down on my knees where she was seated and said Hi Dotsie I am Ted Ferrell she replied oh! Ted are you still singing and I told her yes I am she smiled real big, As we were ready to leave once again I knelt before her and sang a chorus of one of her favorite songs I do,Ready To Go she beamed from ear to ear and when I got to the words that says "got my affairs in order" she threw her hands up like I do when I do the song,It was all I could do to keep from crying. So Dotsie I know you are Ready To Go and call it a day.We that love you pray you will go easely and peacefuly.Thank you for the kind deeds you did for all the saints.Your memory will forever be within our hearts. In Christ I Remain Ted Ferrell

  25. Hello Everyone; Lately have not been posting due to the fact my Mom had a stroke few months ago and since I'm her only son her care is my main concern. She is 93 and doing real good considering all she has been through. Have a free offer for any of you GS folks that might be interested.I still home record gospel songs most of which are originals.I have four CDs done now including One More Time With Ted that some of you received free from me some time ago.Should any of you like to have the other three free let me know by email with your snail mail address. My goal is to turn out at least four new CD'S per year and if you would like to be added to my mailing list just ask and you shall receive. There is and will be no charge and the contents will be only music.(no preachin'or teachin') My little home studio is not RCA but most of the stuff is passable.I pretty much sequence all the music tracks then add the vocals. My taste in music styles is varied so some Cd's may be country, blues, jazz, pop.rock and roll or a combination of all of the above.Have not put my head into rap or hip hop but who knows what the future may hold ha! ha! God Bless All Of You Keep Holdin' On Your Brother Ted Ferrell ferrellsplace@cs.com
