    I'm Dying

LG- Dude, I am extremely impressed with your ability to bring this to us here. It is a subject too often ignored until time has gotten away from us. Thank you, and I join others in wishing you all that you hope for, and more than you dream for. Having dealt with some close people who were aware of their impending "change of address" (my mother's choice of words), I would like to recommend that you consider in-home hospice care. The people from hospice were wonderful for my mother as well as us survivors'. Their care to make things as comfortable as possible, to answer our most in depth questions, to follow up and ask, months later, if we had any new concerns, were just a few of the things that made me feel so proud to have known them. Most Hospice programs I know of are quite skillful at helping people prepare and handle death no matter their religious, non-religious, or even anti-religious leanings. Hospice personel are legally allowed to honor things like Health Care Directives (Living Wills), while I am told that EMT's on ambulances are not, should that situation arise Lastly, please if you haven't done so already, complete a Health Care Directive and have it witnessed and copied for your oncologist and other health professionals as well as your daughter and other support people. It will aide them in making sure your wishes are followed through concerning what care you are to receive in specific circumstances. I recently used a computer program called Willmaker Plus 2006 to do a couple of these for myself and a relative. It was thorough in my opinion. Be at peace, wonderful peace, its my hope for you. ~HAP
  2. ok CW, I guess I misunderstood you. No I never thought you were stupid, I DID think you were saying people are too stupid that they think they wish an organization. No I was not being funny, I was disputing what I understood as your premise. Peace out ~HAP
  3. correct CW your analysis that there is not a shred of evidence of good fruit is your opinion. Thank you for that explanation.. An organization CAN be an assist to individuals seeking growth and truth. That same Jesus you alluded to as setting the standard himself formed an organization of 12 apostles. I missed the new bible that must have come out after our TWI experience where God forbade organizations and instructed us to be islands unto Him. ~HAP
  4. bah humbug, CW, I DO hope you are not callling those who have enjoyed and learned good stuff from those who minister under the CES/STF banner bad fruit? Say what you want, but I have seen good fruit from this ministry, so would this mean then that there can't be "bad fruit"? It would seem so from your narrow interpretation of a single verse. FWIIW, I have often heard those who have contact with STF speak in loving ways of having a relationship with Jesus, unlike when they were involved with TWI. CW, you speak wrongly on this subject as it pertains to many of the people who receive some of their information from STF. For others, it seems "tis the season to rejoice" in the troubles of someone else, because they are not your troubles, perhaps. 10 pages on this thread already? Is "THE's" longstanding record at risk? nah, a month ago most here could not have cared less about CES or STF. this too will pass, probably after the "spiritual" holiday. HAP
  5. thanks for sharing, Weout. ~HAP
  6. That would depend on the machine also. Mine has a place to put the powder, and at the appropriate time in the cycle, it squirts water into the soap dispenser and sends it to the wet clothes. No waiting for the machine at all. ~HAP
  7. Careful with the front loaders and how much detergent you use. Since they use less water, they cannot have as much soap either. Most manufacturers recommend the "HE" marked products, but insiders say you can use regular stuff but use less of it. Too much soap does not rinse out if you over do it. I have had mine for over a year, (Maytag Neptune) and have not had any problems. We love the huge capacity, since we can wash stuff like sleeping bags or large comforters. ~HAP
  8. Not bad for a Hungarian helicopter in Afghanistan which carried no weapons and participated in no military operations. It was exhibited only at air shows and apparently has been decomissioned, as of August 2004. HAP
  9. the ROA movie was 72, not 71, right?
  10. lawsuits and settlements often are brought because there is real loss. It is not necessarily to make a statement or win a point. Most often it is to claim compensation for monetary loss. Such loss does not have to be of life or limb. There is a monetary value, which the courts can determine, of things like "loss of companionship", "loss of future earnings", "mental anguish" on and on. One can be totally forgiving, but still seek compensation without it being a matter of greed. If there is no loss, hopefully, the courts will also determine this. It is a citizen's right to bring suit, and it is far better than stalkng, lynching or otherwise taking matters into your own hands. My parents had not considered suing the driver of the semi that crossed the line and hit my sis headon and killed her. They figured insurance covered the bills, and in their hearts, they had found a way to forgive the careless driver. Their church's attorney (not a party to the case) told them they might wish to reconsider because there was definable monetary loss to them and also to my sister's friends due to the loss of their daughter's life. They did file a suit, and received a settlement. Getting money for themselves was NOT a part of their consideration. Knowing that money in no way replaced their personal loss, they donated 95% of it to several places, not the least of which was a perpetual scholarship fund at Lawrence University where Susie had graduated from, and also a memorial circle there which has become a place of solace to future generations of students. Many of the girl's friends still (20 years later) write this time of year to let us know they stopped by sometime the past year and prayed for good to come from this terrible loss. I think it has. ~HAP

    Black Friday

Like David, I don't do christmas gifting. I give gifts through the year, as I see fit, when I am so inspired. The boys are quite happy about it, and actually, they are the ones who suggested it. We have enjoyed 5 winter solstice's this way, and it certainly relieves the stress of winter. It is a holiday that is overated, over- commercialized, and IMO evidence of a nation gone nuts! I just don't get why suddenly at this time of year we feel the need to recognize anyone other than the Savior. I prefer to recognize work well done, a need I can help with, or just to say "howdy, I was thinking of you today and saw this you might like" throughout the year. That way it is something I WANT to do, not something the marketer's say I NEED to do. I hope this answers your earlier question to me Excat. Its the way we have chosen, works well for us, but I don't want to hamper everyone else's celebrations, and I wish you happy hunting for your gifting needs. good luck. Peace, ~HAP

    Black Friday

I participate in Buy Nothing Day. My wallet stays in my pocket for the weekend, except if a grocery need arises. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buy_Nothing_Day For that matter, I pretty much extend the concept through January 1, keeping holiday crass consumerism out of my household. ~HAP

    Dats or Cogs?

Nahhhh, I don't believe it either.I don't think even I can blame even Geo Bush for this: Dispute Over Claim of Puppies Born to Cat(Reuters) PASSO FUNDO, Brazil (Nov. 17) - Geneticist Adil Pacheco took blood samples on Friday from three puppies in a poor neighbourhood in Passo Fundo in southern Brazil to settle a dispute over a claim they were born from a cat. "It's rather simple really. If the puppies prove to have 78 chromosomes, they are dogs. If they have 38, they are cats," said Pacheco, director of the Institute of Biological Sciences of the University of Passo Fundo. "But I seriously doubt they are feline. Every characteristic about them is canine." Cassia Aparecida de Souza, 18, said her cat Mimi had given birth to the three puppies as well as three kittens, which did not survive. And she, her husband Rogerio Jorge da Silva, 26, and several others in the town believe a neighbourhood mut named Dog is the father of Mimi's pups. When news of the spectacular claim spread in the Brazilian media, some local newspapers accused the poor couple, who are expecting their first child in a few months, of fraud and said they were simply trying to make money off a hoax. "I feel indignant at such accusations," da Silva said. Pacheco said he was asked by a local newspaper to conduct the chromosome test, which should yield results on Tuesday. "It's not uncommon for mammals to nurse young from another species. The cat gave birth in a field and she likely inherited the puppies from a nearby female dog who had recently given birth," he said. Additional reporting by Edison Vara in Passo Fundo Nov. 17, 2006
  15. Rumrunner fessed up. He used a top secret government satellite to block Dooj. that guy is BRUTAL!. ~HAP
  16. I am glad its Fox network airing this and not the liberalmedia! The same group that owns Fox also owns the publishing company. shameless self promotion, but then it is Fox. I cannot be certain who committed the murders, anymore than the jury could. How is it you all are so convinced? While you answer that, let me know who killed Jon Benet also. Then I can die with all the most important questions in my lifetime completely answered.
  17. teehee it has officially become one word. liberalmedia. Is "media" ever used around here? why don't y'all start your own network? yikes how silly.
  18. ahh, now I have heard where the objection to this thread has come from. I admit to being totally taken back by LG's objection, because I have heard NONE of those claims for "equal" representation. I am good with the explanation and I hope LAE is also. ~HAP
  19. Likeaneagle- I don't know you either, but I do understand your post, and think it was a good point, well said, and conceivably uplifting to those to whom you were reaching out. I did not take it as an affront or in anyway dishonoring to military veterans. ~HAP
  20. Good old Broward County FL elections office makes news AGAIN! I am absolutely adamant about making sure my vote counts, but to spend $190K in a failed attempt is going TOO far! It seems that someone wanted to get their ballot in the mail in time to be received by the clerk and be counted. For some reason, they used an assortment of old stamps for postage. Some from 1936 but......... One of the most sought after of stamps for collectors is the 24cent 1918 Inverted Jenny. One sheet of 100 stamps made it into circulation (4 sheets were printed incorrectly, 3 were caught and destroyed). The stamp is valued at $200,000 depending on its uncirculated condition. Somebody used one of these stamps to mail their ballot, and their ballot could still not be counted, since no name was on the envelope!. Now that it is used, its value has diminished to perhaps 1/10 of its former value. To make matters worse, due to election law, the envelope is now in a box of ballots which has been sealed, and willl be kept for 22 months. Usually at that time the box and its contents are destroyed. I hope they can find a work-around of this law, in order that this jewel of a stamp can be retrieved. 21. 72 to 86 PFAL January 72 in Peoria IL AC73 at HQ (all the TIP and other classes in between) Twig/Branch/ Area leader(central IL) 73-74 Organized the first IL "Limb" meeting in Christmas 73 Peoria (we weren't officially a limb, but were wannabes) WOW 74 Allentown, PA Married my WOW sis in 75 and have lived happily ever after here in Arvada, CO We simply stopped going and finally faded from the mailing list once the sexual escapades and their accompanying rationalizations were made known to us by our good friends who left the Family Corps and came to stay with us for a few months. We are thankful for their friendship over all these years. ~HAP
  22. ya can't send someone to prison without the evidence, even if the glove fits.
  23. it is unlikely that charges will be filed, although investigation continues. Lack of charges would not necessarily be because of any special treatment, but because of lack of prosecutorial evidence. the Denver police department have stated they are watching for a case, as the evidence unfolds. Haggard admitted to sexual improprieties, and the meth deals, (although not admitting to ALL the charges ofthe accuser). It should be noted that this was not an isolated one time indiscretion. He admitted to it being an issue his whole adult life. It has been one dark, hypocritical closet this national spokeperson for the religious anti-equal rights movement has self righteously occupied. Hopefully new doors of understanding can be opened between the closets occupied by the gay civil rights movement and the self ordained pious folks who claim to have God's only ear. ~HAP
  24. ummm, maybe I could burn the dead (ahem) Bush I pulled up from the landscape this morning? I was gonna wait until after the polls close on Tuesday. ~HAP
