How nice that Ductape turns the subject of his OWN thread around to serve his own clandestine purposes, to make profane comments about another, here in OPEN. This poll had NOTHING to do with whether one agreed with Groucho's assessment or not, but was about whether you should stay or go because of it. By the way, 1/3 of those who bothered to vote said get lost. Privately, many actually took the presence of this thread as a clamor for attention from you Ductape, and wondered about your health. Oh well, I guess they needn't have been concerned, you are as pluckyducky as you have ever been, under any of your names. We needn't ever again care if you are well. It was all a ruse from the beginning. ~HAP

That was an interesting choice of words Rascal! One of the critters displayed in "all his glory" was indeed a horse. do you know where all yours are tonight? ~HAP

I second the commotion. I think we should ummmmm double your pay. It was great to see everyone drop into the chat room looking for mods though! some even stayed awhile. ~HAP

well, I have rarely agreed with Ductape or what I suspect were his previous personna or two, (especially in the dog-eat-dog place of Politacks) but I think it would be bad precedent for ANY poster to be voted on or off. The powers that pay for and control this board have the right to do so, but it is a rare and understandable case when that has happened. In fact, the ones I can recall were more for the "bannee"'s good than the board. Perhaps a self-imposed vacation would be in order, Ductape? to let your thoughts gather themselves as to what you do and don't like about this place? It is hard to recall which names people are called are the eggs, and which are the chickens. Few are without sin when those stones are cast in that forum. Often, what one person sees as a simple description of another's views is a personal insult to the person it is written to..........on both sides of the aisle. Chalk me up as no vote either way. ~HAP

Hellsabells, forget about Ductape! Can we vote THIS guy off instead? ~HAP

oh my............... no I don't think so. More likely that more sub- products are being imported from less regulated, unregulated sources overseas. ~HAP

thanks for the revelation dear Excat! yeah thanks Greasetech, that is what i figured. I think I will live with it, cuz I don't feel like patching this old Win98 machine (if there even is a patch). I won't own it by the next time change anyway. I just read the system requirements for Turbotax, and it doesn't even list win 98. This self-built thing has been so stable, I dread putzing with it, and dread more giving it up for the unknown, but it is time. ~HAP

I noticed today that when I logged in, the board clock was an hour off on my screen (it showed an hour behind real time). I do not know how long this has been the case. I looked in "My controls" and found I had the correct time zone chosen there, and "Adjust for DST". I finally had to uncheck that box and unselect "DST is in effect". It now displays the correct time, but what's up with that? Is it a problem with the board clock or on my computer? My computer's clock had to be manually adjusted when the time chaged a few weeks ago, and I turned of "autoadjust for DST" there at that time. ~HAP

contrary to some people's opinions here: I am a pleasant mother pheasant plucker. I pluck mother pheasants. I'm the most pleasant mother pheasant plucker That ever plucked a mother pheasant. (courtesy of Rick Steves' phrasebooks and dictionaries) ~HAP

haha, in my case I have always guessed that it was a matter of "send me off to war in style, baby". (start of the Korean War). But my discreet mother would never confirm that to me! ~HAP

I understand that Dot. When I questioned why it is being raised now, I was referring to its prominence now on the internet, not of you bringing it up here now. I had two customers this week mention it to me. Chattygal- I would not call you a bigot, I know nothing about you. I am confused why you would think one would do that? Since I am the only one who has not marched in step on this thread, I wonder if you imagine I think ill of you. Not the case. I can easily disagree with folks and not think of them as bad people. 'K? I would hope you can too. ~HAP

Another view on the "lost ranch" story: http://www.nytimes.com/2005/08/19/national...nyt&emc=rss Again, those found guilty have interesting associations, not all of which I would consider honorable.

Hopefully those jurors would hold most dearly to determining whether the person charged is guilty according to the laws they are tried under, and ignore their own sentimental views one way or the other.

all I know is they were convicted last year, and are seving what, 12 years? HAS to be more to the story than shows up on the pro-wall sites. By the length of time the BP guys got, I expect they were NOT just doing their job. Why is this NOW a topic rather than when it was before the courts? The dealer was not pardoned, he was given immunity. Perhaps they did not then have the legally acquired evidence to convict him? I dunno. It just seems weird to me that the only recent articles on the net about it are pro- the border patrol guys. It would seem to me that someone or someones, somwhere has raised an old issue, that the other side is aware has been resolved legally by our justice system. As to the lawsuit, do you think he will win? I don't. Should we pass laws that prevent him from trying? I don't think we should. ~HAP

MsHAP and I met as WOWs in 74-75. I withdrew my Sick Corps application (I even have a letter from VP approving my withdrawal)and we married a couple of months after completing the year. So that makes us over 31 years of marriage, and 32 years of living together. (We were in the same WOW family). Tommy, congrats to you and the lovely MsZ! ~HAP edit: Point of Information- since we stopped doing TWI stuff back in 1985 or 86, we have been married greasespots twice as long as we ever were as the holy elite, so I would not presume that TWI had anything to do with the duration of our marriage.

As usual in stories like this, there is much more than meets the eye, hardly a story that befits your outrage. It appears to be a complex mess of competing drug dealers, including inside help in the border patrol from other stories that have been written. In the least, it seems that the two agents you mention, concealed evidence. methinks there are parts of the story that have yet to be heard. In the end you may be correct in your outrage, but then again, perhaps you will not.

While looking through some papers this weekend from my great grandfather's (a Quigley)favorites, I found the following words to a song. I have no idea the tune, but I bet they had fun singing it! The notes he made in about 1880. Raffle for a Stove Last Wednesday I attended a raffle for a stove In aid of the wife and family of Timothy T. Cosgrove. There was Kellys, Hogans and O'briens They all went in a drove For to take them dice and shake them nice And try and win the stove At eight oc'clock precisely the raffle it bagan When sixty four was flung Obrien called out "Murder! Wid a brick his eyes was closed. And that night we had to fight While raffling for a stove At three o'clock in the morning the raffle it was o'er Tim Kelly he got roaring drunk And stole away the door. And Casey with a bottle sure he all the windows broke, Till Cosgrove took him by the throat And, boys, I thought he'd choke. Chorus: The music it did play Twas a great delight to see the sight Of the Irishmen so gay I never laughed so hearty In the course of all my life As I looked at that plug McCarty Cavortin with his wife.

Thanks Socks, great post. I only add that when one is the beneficiary of such kindness it also feels good to acknowledge the good heart of the "waver and nodder". ~HAP

I totally do not understand why a woman could not perform the duties of President, nor do I understand those who find it absurd to consider. Let me make it clear, I understand you HAVE those ideas, and you certainly are free to hold them, but I do not understand where they come from. I doubt I will contribute much on this thread, but I had to come back to this before going to sleep in order to express the following: I find it offensive, (and I am a man), to belittle women's ability to perform their responsibilities due to their monthly cycles or hormonal changes. Perhaps I am odd this way, but sexism and racism, and barriers to sexual or racial equality of opportunity bug the heck out of me. Ok, that said I can go to bed now, I got it off my chest. I think final decisions in a marriage should be made by the one who is most comfortable, and most confident making them. All decisions that affect both spouses should be considered jointly, with equal weight given to both views. Final decisions should seek to be acceptable to all, even if some compromises need to be made by both. Consensus means that all concerned can give full support to the outcome, since a good consensus decision harms neither party, even if they did not get everything they wanted from the process. ~HAP

I dunno, but at the bottom of the page was a link to a great question about Ann Coulter being transexual.

I need new glasses. I thought this thread was called Dog Herpes. Great idea for a thread Rottie (the true title of it that is), I look forward to the stories it brings. ~HAP

I don't know if this would change anyone's thoughts on the subject, but the proposal concerned only school sports didn't it? ~HAP
