wow, 18 of their last 19, and they did it easily over the Babyback's ace, Webb. The 'backs looked shoddy, unlike most of their season, but the Rockies played near flawless, and great performances by the pitching staff. Lord ah bulieve! Whats that??? I heard something. Do I hear destiny calling???????? ~HAP

well, the rockies got past Webb, the Cy Young ace of the Babybacks. If the game continues this way, it bodes well for a Rocktober Series appearance. 5-1 in the 7th.

Ok, its game time. Much as I would love the Rockies to continue their streak tonight, I expect they have a better chance tomorrow. However, winning either of these first two games would be a big leg up. going up against Webb in the first game is real tough, but then Francis for the Rockies is no slouch either. we are under way! ~HAP

Rocky or Simon- how many does the d-backs ballpark seat, and why are there so many tiks still available? People here are talking of flying down there to see games and still be cheaper than buying the aftermarket tickets here ~HAP

A quick look at the Rockies vs the Snakes season matchups showed a slight edge to the Rockies. I think I counted 10 wins and 8 losses These two teams know each other well, as they play many preseason warmups against each other. Of course this count might be a little skewed as the last Rockie loss was to the 'backs, in the first game of the last regular season series. That game clinched the division title for AZ, and so they had little to play for in the remaining two losses to CO. Still, the Rockies have been winning "playoff games since mid September with their very young pitching staff, and the REAL league MVP Matt Holliday! This low budget ($54mil payroll) team is suddenly getting some of the head turns it deserves. That is good for the region. It also should get Clint Hurdle some points towards Manager of the Year. I'll be back Tuesday night to continue the fun. ~HAP

I don't expect either the Rockies or the Diamondbacks to sweep this next series. HOWEVER- having won 18 of their last 17, the Rockies are on a roll. They can taste destiny or at least they know what snake meat tastes like. Our youngsters will take your youngsters in 6 games. How do you kill a snake?.... . . . . with a ROCK! This IS the month of Rocktober you know! ~HAP

Cubs/ Diamondbacks game will start out on TNT instead of TBS, until the Indians are done spanking the yankees. The Rockies continued today to show they belong, despite finishing behind the Diamondbacks by a whole 1/2 a game. I hope the big market announcers find the time to start knowing this team soon. But in the meanwhile the Rockies sontinue taking care of business. Hopefully Saturday at home will end this series for them. I have tickets and it would be nice to celebrate their first playoff series that night. Kaz Matsui missed being the first player ever to hit for the cycle in a playoff game by not getting a single. Hmm if the last foul ball into the corner had been fair, do you think he might have considered stopping at first even if he could make it to second?

While the court statement was as cited, Hoess was interrogated prior to this. Below are excerpts from that interrogation, and explanation regarding Wolzek, which likely was actually Sobibor http://www.holocaust-history.org/auschwitz/wolzek-paradox/ ~HAP

As a related story, Brig General Feliz Sparks, commander of the battalion that liberated Dachau died last week. His burial was today. http://www.cobar.org/tcl/tcl_articles.cfm?ArticleID=1277 and: http://www.remember.org/witness/sparks.html Several HUNDRED CAMPS!!!!!!! jiminy, there was death, lots of it. Brutal, horrid, and raciall/ ethnically inspired. that's all I need to know. My grandfather arrived at Auschwitz a few weeks after the liberation. He also to his death was shaken by what he had seen. ~HAP

whew! Yes SimonZ I agree by my 5 senses he looked out, but upon further ummmmm spiritual analysis we know that our senses can be deceived. the scoreboard says he was safe and no angle shown follows his hand all the way past the plate. As so often happens, the bad calls might have evened out in this case. Matt got credit for the run we lost on the non-called HR. Great game, by two fun teams to watch. On to Philly for the Rockies! Glad Helton finally made the playoffs. ~HAP

Looking at the front page, I wonder when TWI got a golfcourse? Maybe I will join back up, it looks like a great place to play. What IS that pic doing there?

well done Simon.

Nah, I will be up late trying to punch holes in the padres bus tires. Besides I expect the tiks were gone in seconds fromthe time they went on sale. don't you know the weather is always beautiful here? It never snows here. We send it all to Phoenix. ~HAP

So Simon, Diamondbacks or Cubbies in their playoff series? where is your allegiance? Rockies win 4-3, they play the Padres tomorrow at Denver's home field for a "Playin" to get the wild card spot
-
and finally a run for the rockies, 1-0 Colorado leading. Bring it on! edit: make that 1-1 after 7 Even though the Rockies have a winning record over each of the teams in their division, they MUST win this game to play again this season. Signs at the ballpark say "Rock-tober" And congratulations to the Brewers who won their last two games over the Padres even though they could have packed it in after their first loss in the series. It is hard to keep up the intensity with nothing to play for. Rockies 4-1 with no out in the 8th.
-
brewers have just taken the lead over padres, 6-4 in the fifth inning and Jimenez for the Rockies has 9 K's thru 4 innings, but the score remains 0-0
-
I will not allow you all to burst my bubble of hope until AFTER the Rockies/AZ game this afternoon, or at least till after the Padres/Brewers game (an hour earlier). If the Rockies win AND the Padres lose, the Rocks will get a spot in a wildcard playoff game. (There are still possibilites for 2, 3, and 4 way ties, but that gets SOooooo difficult. Why can't these teams just win when they should have, months ago! 4-way: (Rockies, Phil and NY win, Padres lose)- Mets and Phillies play Monday, Loser plays in a 3 way wild card tie. Rockies get a bye while the Padres and the east loser play Tuesday. Rockies then travel to the winner's ballpark for a one game playoff for the NL wild-card spot)  It has been a very long time since the small ball team has gotten more interest than the funny shaped ball team in Denver on an autumn Sunday afternoon. ~HAP

I could easily see myself giving up or cutting back SOME aspects of my'puter time such as the extraordinary time I spend here at the Cafe. However, the internet as a whole? No way. I have no desire to go back and live in a cave or be a hermit either. I am able to order product, purchase items, communicate with clients, family and friends, all at great savings of both time and money. I DO read my local paper (doorstep delivered version) every morning. I do read books and articles. And contrary to a GSCAFE misconception, my wife and I enjoy time together at home and away. My boys are grown and out of the house. One has been backpacking in Italy for 16 months, and the easiest way to get messages to him is via email which he checks a couple times a week. He does have a cellphone, but depending onwhere he is and what he is doing, I may or may not be able to reach him. Writing letters is impossible because by the time he has an address to send to, he is gone before mail can get there. (Italian postal service is very slow) I do note however that neither of my boys have their own ISP, nor have they since they left the dorms. They rely on wireless connections on campuses as they travel, or stop in at libraries or cafes. This has provided them all the connection they need to the internet and leaves them plenty of time to pursue more physical activities. HAP

Rocky- The Rockies were not actually eliminated last night with their loss to Arizona. They must win the last two against them, and get help from Padres losses I think. So far tonight, the padres lost and the Rockies are ahead of AZ 11-1 in the 6th. Hope springs eternal ~HAP

Weed and feed will not kill some noxious grasses, like Johnson grass (similiar looking to crab grass) Yes there is a machine for cutting sod, available at better rental yards.

I did not notice any responses about Stevie K. A couple of years ago or three, ted Ferrel mentioned she was teaching music in Colorado. I did not locate her, but that was the last I read here. O a;lso just saw this: http://cgi.ebay.ca/RARE-OBSCURE-XIAN-FOLK-...6QQcmdZViewItem someone in Wichita is selling "Love Child" 33rpm record of hers for $149.00 (marked down from $200) ~HAP

I wonder if that DVD would have all the stuff they cut from the original film when they shrank it down for the tape? I was in some of the opening scenes of the film, but they cut me from the tape. grrrr. maybe I should have taken that as a sign and cut from them at that time! ~HAP

as a point of clarification, "Odyssey of the Mind" and "Destination Imagination" are two different organizations, both with similiar programs and wonderful experiences for their K thru college participants. DI splintered off in 1999 from the long-lived Odyssey of the Mind. (earlier it was called Olympics of the Mind- but the IOC excercised copyright infringemnet rights) (sorry for the off topic, but back to your topic)

I participate in some genealogy message boards, but that is about it. Dooj- OM was a great program. I coached the balsa structure team at our school for several years.

I am more tired of the "have a nice/good day" phrase. I often respond with either "don't tell me what kind of day to have" or "gee, I had planned to have a really crappy one". ~HAP
