sorry, its been a busy "non-game" day. I have some catching up to do. No, I know 40 computers who tried both days to get tickets. None of us did. Verylittle work in corporate offices around Colorado got done on Tuesday or Wednesday, every CO bandwidth was being refreshed to the ticket site. The FBI is investigating the first day's events, supposedly a "malicious attack" on the system. THAT, coupled with a bad system to begin with meant alot of tiks went out of state according to the rumors. Anyway, it will be good to be home again. My perception is that after the drubbing of the first game, the Rockies batters were going too hard to make something happen. Not like them at all. Still, the game was decided on one run, (a walked batter). that is a good sign. Much was made by the announcers of the disciplined Boston bats. that is true, yet they only had 5 hits like the Rockies last night. Bottom line is that most astute Rockie fans expected the Rockies to only win one game in Boston. That has not changed, they still need to win one at Fenway and the same three games here. I welcome you all to a glorious and georgeous place to play ball. Coors Field (but enjoy http://www.boulderbeer.com/ beer outside of the stadium. Game time temp Saturday 55, Sunday 65, Monday 64 ENJOY! ~HAP

As Hurdle said, "that is not how we had it drawn up" We never left earth, but the Redsox seemed out of this world last night. Rockies batters are usually patient, however the great unknown is after a drubbing like they just took, will they suddenly get too anxious? Dry weather would be good, please tell the owners of God's team to get on it. Where is that dome Rocky????????? DWBH and mstar, don't buy that steak sauce yet. I can use my buttah anytime, but I ain't melting it yet.

I want to know where he lost those three fingers on his right hand?????? teehee did you get a new photoshop program Sudo?

well, if you can't win at home with your ace, you are hurting. Beckett is good, and is looking it. The Rockies young arms look like they have not played a game in 8 days. Their fielders look like they have the wrong cleats. I disagree with the balk call, the first base ump has that view, and did NOT call it. Of course that had little to do with the outcome of the game. I think this was more earned runs than given up by the Rockies in 8 playoff games, certainly NOT their usual outing. Lets see what the morrow brings, as this one looks like a mirror image (reverse) of last June's game. Boring ~HAP

Holliday was not the one to field the ball. It looked to me like Matt had trouble with the wet grass and the short warning track. ~HAP <====sings "Who'll stop the Ra ai n"

ok, the 8 day layoff is over. we got a couple of hits. let the game continue. It ain't over till its over

Aww Rock, i never took you personally. This is a baseball thread, the greatest game known to mankind, yes, but it IS a GAME! That said, I am a Rockies fan, and I like Rocky too. I was a Rockies fan when being so wasn't cool. Oh, and I also am a fan of lawbstah so this Series is even MORE exciting to me. It's almost GAME TIME! and the underdog Rockies (2-1) are ready to play. Believe me they will not be intimidated by Fenway or the Redsox. Facing the formidable Beckett in game one, they beat him when he was undefeated back in June, but I will be the first to admit this is a whole new game tonight. I think the east coast will be surprised by this never give up team. They already know the Redsox have that attitude. And defense will be hot. It very well may be the deciding factor of the series. just watch Tulo and you have to be impressed. Here's to you all, first pitch is moments away, ~HAP It comes down now to the last two teams standign, and it SHOULD be a great contest for the next 5 or 6 games. The Rockies will NOT sweep this time, but I say they WILL win 4 games. My call is in 5 games, but I will gladly take 6 or even 7 because that means more BASEBALL to watch.

LindaZ- I knew you have been one of the wisest posters at GS and now I know why! Mstar1- I got you covered on the lobstah/steak "agreement" The experience of knuckleballers in the thin air at Coors Field has been that they better have some other stuff. HOWEVER, you made a spelling error in your "correction". I think you meant its The experience of knuckleballers in the thin air at Coors Field has been that they better have some other stuff. It is not happening here. This is why the Rockies have brought many of their pitchers up through their own system, so they can develop the pitches needed to succeed here. By the way, tell your batters to swing away and swing for the fences. The rumors of the longball being easy here has taken down many an embarrassed home run king. whoever was concerned about the Rockies layoff, I doubt that will be a problem. this is the World Series, every boy's dream. They are a well-coached team that is hungry and ready, and healthy. Hurdle will have them ready, without missing a beat. I look for a split at Fenway in the first two games. The rockies were not intimidated at Fenway earlier this year, and I cannot see them being anything less than ready to play there again. They know they are up against a formidable opponent in both the BoSux and Fenway, but they have faced the best in the MLB before and ended up on top anyway. Cordially, HAP

Well, its official, HAP broke the servers that run the MLB ticket sales stuff. The tickets which were to go on sale this morning at 10am STILL have not been sold. Actually, about 500 tickets did get sold before they shut down the computers. That means about 59500 tiks are still out there waiting for the computers to get back up and working. Gad, what a mess. Everyone I know with office jobs spent the entire morning with every computer available to them refreshing the page trying to get in. 8 1/2 million hits on the ticket site in the first hour and a half, at which time they shut all sales down. ain't no system big enough to handle that traffic except maybe Google. the current status is "We are working with the computer company to figure out how to fix this- we hope to have an announcement before your 10 o'clock news" ~HAP

That is a real question Rocky. I have been trying to get through since they went on sale at 10 (mtn.time) I figured it was worth a try. I will see what comes up in the aftermarket, but will likely not pay more than 2x face value. BUT............ who knows? Things have worked mysteriously before to get me there. Note- if anyone actually DOES score tiks, do not hesitate to call. I will buy what you got to offer, or pay for yours and any others you can get. Tiks at coors are available only at http://colorado.rockies.mlb.com/col/ticket...season_2007.jsp give it a try! Edit: UPDATE- Tickets sales for Coors Field were suspended today at noon. 8.5 million hits crushed their website in the first hour. They SAY they will be back up and running this afternoon, but NO tickets are being sold online or at the rockies offices at this time. Several thousand tickets are available still when they DO get the system working again. If you are looking for something to do today, keep trying. DWBH and I have a lobster vs. steak "agreement" on the winner of the World Series. Anyone else? GAME ON! its ROCKTOBER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ~HAP

nuh uh....... ITS ROCKTOBER!!!!!

what a sorry presentation of the trophies and awards. It was done indoors, away from the fans??!!!??? I liked the NL presentations better, more respect for the ones who pay the bills. Anyway, congrats to the Redsocks, we look forward to a great series. ~HAP

no excuse for no communicatrion on the 8th inning popup. Cleveland looked less than awesome ~HAP

Yep, "..it happens"! Could be the same at the end of this season. Woe to the teams that have to travel to play here. bring oxygen and longjohns! personally, I rather play ball in 50 degrees than in 110. two more hours to game time. tick tock tick tock I hope this game lasts more than 3 innings. ~HAP

brrr. 11 am sunday Oct 21. 3" snow on the ground in Denver. elevation one mile (5280 feet) above sea level. visiting teams better bring warmers and oxygen to the ballpark. (let the psych wars begin) LOL rumors have it that the ball flies further, sinkers don't sink, runners lose their breath by the time they get to second base (especially the OLD players). Not to worry, the ski slopes are open and in high gear, so after losing their fourth game of the series here on October 29th the visitors can hop the ski train to Winter Park and "chill" out on the mountain. The tall, tall mountains...... :B) :B) ~HAP

okay after reading your post, I saw where it could have been read as though I meant Game 1. Glad you knew what I meant. "VERY cold" is a relative term. The average high during the first week of April is 57-58 degrees. WE do not consider that very cold, and indeed it is shirtsleeve weather here. To me it is an ideal temperature for any outdoor activity. 99 in the sun is too hot to keep mental sharpness and focus. Other person's exoerience and preference surely varies. ~HAP

Well Rocky, the WS has been starting and finishing progressibvely later over the years, a fact which does not make ballpark planners look good now. I will not presume to knw what all goes into the decisions to dome or not to dome. Here, for 158 games of the year, there is no need to aircondition or protect from rain. the other 4 games are easily managed. THEN come the playoffs and always the dream of the World Series. still, most of those games come off without a hitch (the one game here in the rain being the exception so far) To me it makes little sense to waste covering the ballpark and having to condition the air when for almost all of the games we can enjoy the fresh, natural, open air and watch a game as it was in the "olden" days. Yes, the first 2 games will be in Boston or Cleveland. when I said "the first game here" I was referring to Saturday's game 3, the first WS game to be played in Denver. ~HAP

ummm I predict there will be a game7 in the ALCS. but I have been known to be wrong (once, and possibly twice, but that is in dispute). All I can say, when the World Series needs to be delayed because of snow, just remember, the Rockies did all they could to finish things earlier. I am not happy for their wait. However, I know even if Boston or Cleveland had wrapped their series up earlier, the WS STILL would not have started until Wednesday. Temp here today 72, tomorrow (Sunday) 40 with snow. Fortunately the cureent forecast for the first game in Denver is for daytime temp in the high 50s Boston has got to be more comfortable tonight. ~HAP

you have a point there Rocky the paper was a bit filled with other baseball news that morning Ok, a belated congrats to your coach and his staff. ~HAP
