Hi there. An aside - I've been reading a book titled "The Four Agreements". It's an interesting read, and while I don't subscribe to the specific faith of the writer I've found the approach, the angle of thought, interesting. A part of that angle is the idea that we "create" our own "reality", for ourselves and others. Not exactly a new notion but in it he defines "magic" as what we cause ourselves and others to believe, by what we say and do. A simple word or statement can cause another to view themselves good or bad, and it can be remembered for years. What we say particularly puts impressions and expectations on others that often have powerful effect. His suggestion is to be careful - "impeccable" - in our word, what we say, communicate. To do good. Easier said than done in a lot of cases but a wothwhile endeavor. To carefully and thoughtfully craft our words to accomplish the best we can, would be how I'd put one of his "agreements" with ourselves. Likewise to recognize those things we've "agreed" to from our past that aren't good, that are bad, that have influenced us to lesser ends. Anyhoo - your Constitution reminds me of that, somewhat. Articulating clearly the foundations of how you want to think, act, interact. Cool. As to the content, it's your thing. And fortunately you can always edit and amend, with a majority vote. :) A work in progress? Cool.

Prayer req's at the Way Nash were burned in the Way Woods, in the campfire area. Symbolic. Smoke go up, gone. (Rewind a few years, that was way back when).

Is it Christmas yet? Merry Christmas to all and to all a big Merry! WG, I would say, in all honesty and with no desire to denigrate anyone - I think it fell off the Waydar (get it - radar/Waydar? ) due to the Way becoming rather like a broken cistern where all the water leaked out. Over time the indisputable lack of any manifested or demonstrated "power" amongst the members led to a kind of moody, gray cloud of doubt. It's much easier to hoot and pound from the podium about how things ought to be if this or if that and if only someone could or would this or that. t's much easier to give reasons why something won't or can't happen than to look for opportunities for something to happen. MY guesstimate - the Way just lost faith, and replaced it with their own regimented religion which no one could follow completely or perfectly. The perfect excuse. We all need prayer, we all need support, we all need healing. We need whatever God and man can offer. Life sucks when it isn't cool, and is only cool when it doesn't suck. Unfortunately it does suck for everyone sometimes, in different ways and different times. In fact, I'm often thankful for anything good that comes down the pike in this rathole of life sometimes. I can only survive by looking for the good and the bright, wherever and whenever it shines. And it does. LCM was perfectly fine until tested. We're all perfectly fine, as long as life's cool. When it starts to suck, which it will sooner or later, shorter or longer, for a bit or a lot - is when we find out about ourselves. You've done well, and have every reason to be proud this night! Tested and tried, you're more than present and accounted for, you're moving forward. Not everyone can say that. Merry Christmas! Santa's on his way!!!

Nice tune, dmiller! I like Les's sound, didn't expect that voice to come out of that cap! Both guitarists do a nice blues shred there. Speaking of Ford, Youtube has some clips of him, including some lesson stuff. He is surely one of the nicest, most grounded musician's. I met him briefly at an outdoor concert few years ago. (Wed bumped paths way back when in the early '70's at a few gigs when he was real young, with the "Robben Ford Blues Band", around San Francisco). Often in performing situations people are distracted by the goings on and it's difficult to focus on their audience. Ford was "there". I found this song, performed by the great Tommy Emmanuel. "Here Comes the Sun (Beatles medley)". Enjoy! Everyone have a Merry and safe Christmas!

Nice, krysilis. :) The "high" places, of the Lord. Lifting up our eyes, thoughts, where we look for help, that's a lot of the perspective.

Yah, that's them, Chatty. They're working together again from what I read. Extremely talented writers and musicians. I always enjoyed his music cinder, although I didn't follow it closely. It will serve his memory well. I saw the Crossroads concert on TV few weeks ago and the Jeff Beck portion shown was great. He had a young female bassist with him named Tal Wilkenfeld. Youtube has several clips, this one is really nice I thought and features her playing in an improv part of the song "Cause We've Ended as Lovers", a Beck classic. The embedded code was disabled - here's the link - check it out. It's xxx-rated, in the best kind of way. :) http://youtube.com/watch?v=DJGCOq89a2o&feature=relatedFor our resident Female Bassist Chas - you may dig this if you're in... an audio and image clip of Tal Wilkenfeld playing an original comp from her CD is titled "Truth Be Told". Really nice song. She's telling it, alight.

I think Sushi's referencing the deodorant commercial Lifted Up - raise your hands, raise your hands if you're sure. :) it could definitely be a bookstore item, Ban Roll-on, various spray devices. 'Specially in the warmer climates. Talking to God out loud in a group setting is an interesting activity. As we all know protocol can be over emphasized. How best to address the Infinite One? Father, Father-God, God, Lord, Lord-God, Lord God Almighty. Lord Father God Almighty. It sounds like a James Brown hoot, definitely has funky overtones. "Hnnngh! Maceo, can a man get a beat! Hit me! Lift it! Can I get a beat! Hit me! Can I get a beat! Hit me! Horns! Lift it! Don't be a fool, do it in school! Get on the good foot! Lift it! Good Gawd almighty uh hnnngh!" No disrespect and all props to the Creator. Praying and lifting all things great or small to Him is a good thing, IMO. Lift it! Hit me! Hnnng!!!

When this came out, we were hooked. Glad I found this, and to share it. Early Orleans music was really nice, and if you ever have a chance to get it, this 'first' album (the second really) was killa. This album was our theme for quite awhile. Hope you like it. (the intro's kinda kinda) Orleansonline.com

Deodorant companies have missed a niche market here - if you're gonna raise holy hands, make sure your 'pits are presentable. I've always liked the phrase "lift". It's part of the jargon used in the church we've been doing some hang time with. The study group we attend prays and there's reference to "lifting" an item in prayer, amongst others. I think the idea of "casting all my care" on God is sound and will apply itself differently into different circumstances. Some things, there's nothing I can do, no action I can take. It's not a relinquishment of my interest - it's a way to place my faith. I don't disengage, I engage and in effect, join into a partnership with God, one that recognizes His part. "Lifiting" something in prayer to God is a good idea, IMO. Like anything it can become a mannerism, done by rote, sort of a religious tic, I guess. Done thoughtfully, it makes sense.

Nice. Here's another. Cool tune. Cool guitars.

Well, there's nothing better'n cheap chicken. Cheap chickens ROCK! Likewise cheap turkeys. Best deal we've found is a turkey breast. All meat, no bones. In most cases whole birds are cheaper, but you get the bones, the backs and other parts that make great stock but if you're not talkin' stock, the meat's what you want. So the whole bird versus price is relative I think. Winter grass in Ohio? That must be stuff under 3 feet of snow. Walking on the grass in Wayworld was a no-no though as I recall. Figure you get 100 people marching around across the lawn to shortcut their way to the BRC all that freshly mowed green will get torn up. Bad karma. In 50 years no one'll get blessed. Bad bongoes.

At first I thought this was tongue-in-cheek, but I sense it's serious, right WW? It's foreign to me to consider what levels of violence would be appropriate at home, in my relationships with my family. I may be fortunate, lucky, blessed but probably not that much more than most of us - home is a place of safety and to a great degree, peace, with a good dose of what I'd call inevitable friendly chaos at times. Signals cross, communications go awry, but never so much of any of it that we spin off into a home-schooled version of "Cops". So I can't vote, it's just too weird to consider. It's not Snow White and the 3 Dwarfs here but we don't license the use of firearms either. Now sure, I suppose if I found myself staring down the barrel of a 12 gauge, I might have to consider acceptable levels of response. But that ain't gonna happen at home. If that's happening you need to do more than draw up rules of engagement. (But I think we know that - don't we?)

If the psalmist had played a Strat, this song would have been in the bible. Be a lover, not a fighter, and live. :)

It's worth repeating. If the Iams are pursuing some jocky-hock mid-50's wisdomofthegoodold_days when men knew how to gedder done and a wumman knew how to treedherman and a good clockin' could solve any "issue".... Turn off your TV and get real. That's not. It's a good way to advance violence as a way to solve problems and a lame excuse for not being able to control yourself. Warning - don't try it with my wife or I. You won't like the response you get, which is designed to stop the cycle of abuse right there. But seriously, don't.
-
Well, sure. And even squirrels need sleep! Patterns like "the cycle of abuse" are measurable. It's not an issue of "does that make me mad", or "that ain't right!". People do things that aren't right and that make us made and should stop. It's an issue of how we solve our problems. Keeping in mind, some may not be solvable for some people. Now, this week, maybe never. Raising our children the best we can and by the best standards we can use and live is the most important part of this, IMO. Cycles start when we're young, and by example. We learn what we see, what we're told. What we copy, when we're little. You can "make" a 5 year old do something, with force. Eventually that kid's going to be 15 and then 25. Force with a 5 year old isn't force with a 25 year old. But if the 5 year old sees and experiences physical force, abuse, as the way things get done, what have they learned? And yeah, using TV shows and movies is a little thin, as far as setting up hypotheticals. Hollywood can do whatever it wants. That's not my world, or yours. It's on the screen, created. I have to create the one I live in.
-
Decking people doesn't solve the problem. In the event of a physical threat, where you have to protect yourself or the other person from harm, meeting the threat appropriately works. That's where someone's attacking you or is such a threat that a physical attack of some kind is emminent. Hitting people just makes everything worse. Anger, resentment, pain. And always remember - revenge served hot - or cold - is the same.

Those look pretty nifty Whitedove! Usable under many circumstances. Have you ever used one? MALPack = "Maladjusted pack", since if it weighed over 60 pounds or so, you could plan on getting bent out of shape.
-
Sweet! Joe's a classic. Always good to hear. Tom, I knew you'd understand. You don't actually need to listen to the first two, in fact they work perfectly well as visual communications. AC DC on the other hand work extremely well as an audio presentation and much like the first two, make you wish the videos were longer. But the visuals...hmmm, well, yeah, the music is GREAT!
-
I never actually had a MALPack, Tom, unless you count a pack of 'Boros and plenty of Steve Miller. Living in California, our current earthquake preparedness "MALPack" is developed to support our family for a week in the event services go south, literally. That's defined as a level of subsistence that's shy of a hot shower everyday, but definitely more than a plastic bag raincoat. I think we're looking good for 3-4 weeks depending on how the canned chicken and stuff holds out. What I recall about the MALPacks was to have the ability to pick up and skin out quickly and be able to manage a level of survival in the event of some kind of catastrophe. I think there was some concern about Liberal Gay Democrats trying to take over, etc. etc. I didn't anticipate that kind of thing happening, practically speaking, so I never worried about it. In New Knoxville I was more worried about Townies stealing stuff out of my car than Commie takeovers. Shoot, that kind of takeover mentality is probably more suitable for today's security conscious environment than it was then. More likely today than back in the 70's. But the idea of being ready for the unexpected has stuck with me and been a valuable foundation for getting strategy and tactics in place to deal with my Dadly responsibilities.
