I agree with Zix on the flat screen/no glare benefit. It's a biggie, and really simplifies lighting and viewing. The flat plasmas are dropping in price although I haven't bought one yet. When they first came out they were what, 30-40 grand. Now you can get a 27 inch for about 5 grand. Pricey for me right now still. I've got one for my pc monitor, and it's nice, I'm near a ceiling light, no glare whatsoever. Less space, it's nice. HDTV - worth it if your cable delivers, and if you're really in to DVD's. If you're pulling both, definitely good. I'm shopping too for a plasma flat screen, but not in the near future. Have one flat screen tv in the house, it's great.

It's a smalllll world, it's a smallll world. Yuppers they were in the same band, Boz Scaggs is on the first two SM albums recorded on Capitol, "Children of the Future" and then "Sailor". Both albums were "concept" albums, especially Children. The entire first side is one piece. He threw a curve at a lot of listeners with his first few albums. But it made sense to me at the time, for some reason. It just hit home. A la you might enjoy the album Brother Strange is referring to, the first solo Boz did after leaving the Miller band. Great tunes, a very poignant sound. The cover photo and back covers are a hoot too. Bet you'd dig it. I'll try to find some and post later. But the all time greatest song of his I love is "Baby's Calling Me Home". Just takes me away..... The disco era Boz, I too enjoyed. Lido Shuffle, classic Stuff! Love that tune. Great guitar solo. 's all good!

I'm on a Steve Miller jag here now Tom. I remember vividly when he came in to the San Francisco bay area. Saw him several times, once early on with a blues band he was fronting with Curly Cook, from Texas. Cook had his own band for awhile after he left Miller. Saw the full SMB lineup at the old Fillmore, and they did most of Children of the Future and several blues tunes. They were different, between Miller and Scaggs they really had a lot of tunes. I remember they all seemed really tall and filled up the front of the stage. Compared to a lot of the SF bands, they were long on attitude, no tie-dyes at that point in the wardrobe. Later, Steve Miller kept on with a 3 piece. He always seemed to balance between blues jam stuff and tunes. In tunes like Space Cowboy and Don't Let Nobody Turn You Round he nailed the Clapton sound he was chasing and he always had a few rock/pop things coming out. Boz - forget it. That first album of his with Duane Allman was killer stuff. Tunes of his like "Baby's Calling Me Home" and "Long Gone" are really personal for me. Great tunes, there's just something there that I always liked. He captured another side of that "mystical" sound Miller nurtured. Cool stuff. Aaaah....

I know what you mean, Brother Tom! It's amazing! Shoulda known you'd be a Miller fan! Here y'are, Miller sings of life, love and fast food with Brother Scaggs - Livin' in the USA. (mebbe give it a sec to wind up) His followup album references Livin' - "Brave New World" picks up where Sailor leaves off, providing direction for the disenfranchised hippy-love-throngs. Suit up in your best socks and spurs for Space Cowboy. bluzecentral.net - "yeah sheriff, and that's your WIFE on the back o' my horse...."

Glad you liked it! Harry Duncan is the reed man. He did some work on the early music of Don Van Vliet, AKA Captain Beefhart. Surviving that, he appears to have done well although I don't know of much else he's recorded. I love Jimmy Reed. His was one of the first 45's I bought. Think "Rumble", Link Wray was the first, pret' sure on that as memory serves if'n I'm recollocking right, back in the late 50's p'raps if that be correct cordin' to recall. First Reed 45 was "Mary Mary". I've always felt that Boz's contributions as a member of the original Steve Miller Band indicated his deep awareness of the truth of the Amazing Sea Monkeys! "Children of the Future" and "Sailor" were groundbreaking albums, particularly for a "blues band". Together they moved pop rock and blues in a unique direction. Once they established the future vision where did the music go? The ocean, the sea....sailor...sailing....exploration.... I mean, really. Boz knew. Miller knew. They know. You know they know. doot do do do do doot doooo! livin' in the U.S.A.!

Interesting numbers, Pat. And interesting information, Mark. I've deinstalled and removed Alexa before. I don't want to rain on your thread either Pat, but I don't use Alexa or anything like it that I can identify and get rid of. Here's a few links out there about Alexa from a Google search, if anyone wants to check them out. There's more. Some say it is spyware, some say it ain't. Most agree with Mark. If it quacks like duck, etc. http://www.felgall.com/brsie9.htm http://www.itellu.com/spyware_alexa.htm http://simplythebest.net/info/spyware/alexa_spyware.html http://www.imilly.com/alexa.htm Personally I don't like the use of these kinds of things, the last thing I want on my browser is another toolbar. I despise intrusive pop ups that say "Tired of Pop Ups?". I'd like 5 minutes alone with the marketers that use these so that I could show them the light. So I've got a pop up blocker, sure. I've gotten Alexa a few times with something else I've installed or downloaded and it comes off immediately using deinstll/programs and I run my spyware software. It's like buying something and finding 20 fliers in the box for other offers. I usually check them out then toss them if I can't use them. Unfortunately some of these come along with things you download as part of the deal. So I just take them off immediately. As a toolbar "assistant" Alexa is probably legit. I just don't need any assistance along those lines. So I'm not getting counted, but it's really intersting to me that so many people that use Way related sites have it. Guess some people benefit from it and like it.

I get it! An' I got it! I think this will work. Grazi! Grazi! Yeah, Sheryl Crow's got a rocker there, pulling from the library of rock riffs with a nod to the Gangster of Love Himself, Steve Miller. Cool tune! Check it out HERE, "Steve McQueen". "I ain't takin' $hit off no one, baby That was yesterday. I'm an all-American rebel Makin' my big getaway. Yeah, y'know it's time, I gotta fly...." A lyric many-a Greasespot can relate to, hey? For some downhome followup, check this chili, "Found Love", an old sweet Jimmy Reed tune redone in a bun by Boz Scaggs. He does it justice. Get your buns toasted and slop on some of Reed a la Boz HERE with "Found Love". Sheryl Crow. The tunes, jeans, the bass ride. Crow knows. You know she knows. :)--> bluzecentral.net - hear the love!

I would agree, Steve! It's the same gif on the same site host I've had it on for a couple years. So I don't know if it has anything to do with that or not, but if it stopped it that's fine by me. But I'm about to cancel with them anyway, so it's no biggie. Nothing about their service, just switching gears to a west coast host. The Calvinator will be back Bluzeman!

Yea, I'll find calvin new digs. Thanks steve!

What former TWI person writes this strange material for CES?

I have, but on other threads, the "certificate" window, yup. Those are cool names. Musiciansfriend rocks! I like Amazing Sea Monkeys Parakeet and Amazing Sea Monkeys Judge and the Futile Eyelash which could be turned in to The Futile Eyelash and the Amazing Sea Monkeys! with DJ Judge I always thought a good name for a band would be Bro Boy. Sort of a takeoff on Buddy Guy's name. Or a name where the actual name of the band would be different than the name that appeared in print media or advertisements. Like the name you'd read or see could be "Humdinger and the Hotheads" but the real name of the band would be "Peace Bunnies". You'd see Humdinger, but you'd say Peace Bunnies. For uh, example.

Maybe they're written by the same person who sends out their mailers. Usually packed full of brightly colored paper the envelope will have anywhere from 3 to 5 order forms for assorted tapes and such, classes, etc. Getaways. Fun fests. That kind of thing. I always get really blessed when they show up unannounced in our mailbox, as if from out of the blue! Just knowing what's available is so empowering. Really. Honest. -
"Bonds Watch - 04!" Is there any other kind of ball? Those ball joints sound kind of kinky, Paw. Uh oh. There goes the conversation. :o-->

How Do You View Those Who Believe Differently?
socks replied to Oakspear's topic in Doctrinal: Exploring the Bible
Depends, Oaks. Working from a list of core beliefs and attitudes is useful when determining tolerance levels. -religious -political -gender/sex preferences -career/work -hobby/recreation -race -primary language -physical qualities -family relations/size/background -geographical location -body odors/smells -clothing and dress preferences -music/art preferences Based on this list a 3 Tier Tolerance Matrix, or a "3TM" index rating can be generated. 1 difference - a "1", easily tolerated within normal boundaries and activities. 2 differences - a "2", tolerance negotiable, and likely under most circumstances. 3 or more differences - a "10". Tolerance doubtful, since something's obviously very wrong with these kinds of people, things that may not be correctable in a non-professional medical environment. And of course, a "2" must be closely monitored as progression to a "10" is possible at any time, particularly in election years and at the start of the new fall TV season. :D--> :D--> :D--> :D--> :D--> :D--> :D--> :D--> :D--> :D--> -
What TWI didn't share - What Jesus is Doing Now...

*AAAH!* It's Irish Spring! Well, how's the fam, what's cookin' Sea Monkey pals? Norah Jones, we were going to see her again this year A la but the tickets were sky high. Last year we paid 40 bucks for good seats at the Greek Theater in Berkeley, CA. This year, double and up. Too much.

Well, there goes Plan B. :D--> Makes sounds sense, WW. Trust, choices we make as to what we do, who we listen too. VPW is a good example of what it is to shoot yourself in your own foot. "I've got something that really needs to be heard! It's..." *KAPOWWW!* "OWWW!" Out of action. I see Jesus Christ as "ground zero". The focal point, the core message. In His days on earth people could find him, follow Him. I've grappled with the tendency to see this whole "body of Christ-new man-token gift" thing as a linear path of 1-2-3, me to you to him to her to someone else and then to Christ, and then to God and then back down through everyone again to me. "Hey, down in front, I can't see back here! I told you we should have left early if we wanted to get good seats, honey!" Sign up here, go there, take this class, you have no class, get some class, get a good seat and do it again next week. But it's not that way is it? With Christ you can be last and have the same rights as the first ones who came early, got the t-shirts, brought chairs, saved space with their blankets and have a hella good bar-b-q going. Our relationship to God and Christ is a through all and in us all deal, sort of a peer to peer network with a grand server in the center. His mission - provide a no-stop direct-on path to God. Fellowship is around the life we have now, rooted and grounded in the same thing, fed by the same source. "Party at Ground Zero". :D-->

"Jim, I'm a physician, not a mind reader!" Actually Mike it's just that it's such a surreal mind picture, not that He is or was all-knowing. It's just such a ludicrous idea, given apparently so that you can read into the responses what you've already decided everyone thinks. But relating to the topic, regardless of how a person learns about Jesus Christ, it's Jesus Christ who's the focal point of the "Christian" message. IMO, if PFAL were a success people would talk about Christ and the life of following Him, not PFAL. You don't get orange juice by licking the orange peels, you gotta get personal with that pulp.

Hay-lo. I've been gone for a couple weeks, lost, hungry, thirsty, eating things for food that a goat would puke up and getting water by licking the morning dew off the leaves of plants that I don't think have names but whose pistils can be used to provide the barest of nutrition when ground up and sucked up off a rock. My body hygiene is at full stank, up from 3/4 stank a week ago. No sleep, no food, no water, no light at the end of the tunnel until Sunday when I was belched up out of the dank, sweaty crotch of my computer hutch and crawled out to see the first light of dawn in a new day and heard the sound of children playing outside who I pray will never see the things I've seen and who can breathe the breath of life with purity because somewhere I have to believe there is one more pure clean breath of fresh air left in this sorry world to sustain their innocent laughing lives. My computer got a virus and it's been sent back to it's maker with a tag on the body bag that reads "Have a nice day". I'll be back.

Quack. "Jim, I'm a doctor, not a mathematician! I can't fix a Vulcan's brain patterns!" The worst thing about that belief Mike, is that those who hold to it are usually more than willing to step up and fall on their sword for the cause if it will move it forward. Which makes a good case for evolutionary forces working to eliminate the weaker animals out of the pack but little for the cause of deliverance in Christ. You can pull that pin if you want, just stand waaaaay over there when you do because we're bringin' 'em back alive in the sock drawer.

Heeeeeey. TSRTS.... I just realized your comment may have been meant as a... putdown. Is that what you're doing? Putting me down? Making fun of me? Disparaging me? Me? Moi? socks? This guy? Please clarify this important question for me so that I can sleep tonight. I'll prepare my responses accordingly.
