I think we have a good six inches come down since about 4 a.m. and it's still coming!!! I love it, it's Saturday and it's snowing. No school, no swimming lessons, no basketball games. I haven't seen snow like this since I was a kid in the upper penninsula. WaHOOOOO - who wants to have a snowball fight?

"IF you adopt the frame of mind I have, that Dr was working closer with God (IN THIS AREA, IN THIS DEPARTMENT OF HIS LIFE) than anyone since the first century, then for one of his students to go to Styles, or Leonard, or whoever, said student would be exposed to their doctrinal error, and the easy-to-followup reference would downgrade the learning experience for that student. Dr had the 1942 promise to back him up in authoritative error filtering from these men, but Dr's students did not." But Mike, I am told that it is my job to study, even VPW said to make it my own. How can I make it my own if I am merely trust what VPW taught? If I don't study all of the avenues possible I am simply taking another man's word for it. I think God is big enough to let me know when I am missing something. -

Gee, Mike, I feel ignored and neglected. :)--> Paw, Do I understand correctly that you want to take two or three of the posters from The Family Tables and in exchange they take Mike? Well, that certainly could take some of the pressure off of Oldies and Johniam. -
Thanks Paw. I did get one from my ISP - which I allowed. The rest of them have not seemed legitimate so I've blocked them. I think 1000Names is going to get us a new puter when he gets his tax returns. I can't chip in much on the puter cause I'm going to pay my van off. But I thought I would buy a router and another moniter then. That way we get the added protection from the router and the kids can have their own computer as well. :)--> (one that is actually fully functional and internet ready, as opposed to those dinasour Macs that are still limping around. ) Speaking of which - you know anyone who would be interested in an old iMac and another Mac which predates that? They both mostly work - the disc drive on the iMac only works intermittently and the other one has a tendency to lock up. No charge beyond shipping. I just hate throwing away working computers even if they are old and have problems. :)-->

If its any consolation, Paw, I'm betting you can sing way better than he can! ;)--> My grandmother dated Sid Caesar (if only she'd married him - LOL and she's the one who used to tell me it was just as easy to fall in love with a rich guy as it was a poor one). I am related, by marriage to the Elias family (of Big Boy Restraunts). This has benefited my life about as much as my grandmother dating Sid Caesar has. LOL I have a dog who is afraid of his own reflection in a mirror. The first time he saw himself he growled so fiercly he scared himself and now he won't even walk past it. Oh and for you, Shell - Ipotty trained Aaron by teaching him to pee on the trees in the back yard. I also used to let him swim naked in the kiddie pool in our yard. (Jacob missed out on both. I had to put an end to both of those things when my neighbor's daughter started imitating Aaron)

That is true, Vert. The same would be the case with the spybot type programs. For example Adaware will pick up the CoolWebs ( what a nightmare that one is) but it can't get rid of it. In fact so far, the only solution I've found to that one is to track it down and delete it manually. Same with VX2.

Oh believe me Vert, a lesson I have learned very well is to trust myself and my relationship with God. I am simply having a conversation with Mike. We haven't talked much in quite a while. :)--> -
I set my Nortons so I could see when another computer was trying to access mine. Then I put the Whois websites in my favorites so I could look up the IP addresses. I probably get at least 50 alerts a day regarding someone trying to access my computer. Most of the time Norton tells me its a medium risk and I should grant permission. But when I search the IP address it's usually a communications company in Korea or China. Once it was a repair shop somewhere in Virginia. I keep blocking them. I am curious as to what all of these port scans are, why they want access to my computer. Anyone know about this?

Yup, Galen, Steve is right and it's a bitch to get rid of too. :(--> That is why I said at the begining - do your research before you put anything on your puter. Even the most innocent looking program can be problematic. Call me paranoid, but after everything we went through to get this machine running again - I won't even download aol im again. Vert, the problem with a lot of free virus scanning programs is if they do find a virus - you still have to pay money to get rid of it. Might just as well buy something with a good reputation and protect yourself before it happens.

Well, gee Raf, if I told you, then you'd kno

Speaking of cars (I know, but it was only one page back!) I once put tranny fluid in the brake reservoir and my then husband had to replace the master cylinder. But after that, he never again hounded me about checking the fluid levels in my car.

"If I were to give you a 5-senses definition of spirit, His Spirit, then it would be "de-finite," or made finite, and thus no longer infinite Spirit. Thus all written definitions of spirit are merely crude approximations. " Here I agree with you 100%. Though at times it is necessary to "de-finite" the infinite spirit in order to understand an aspect/part. However, it is important to understand that is all we are seeing, a part and not the whole. "If you want to know spiritually what spirit is you must first find out from His written word all that you can by your 5-senses, and then when you are able to hear God's voice directly and He sees that you need to know more about that word, then HE will tell you more." While I agree it is important to spend time searching out, via the five senses, the things of God, I think we have here a chicken or the egg senario. Without guidance from God how would one even know where to begin in searching Him out? Take someone else's word for it? Why? Based simply one someone else's word/testimonial? Based on the culture I was raused in? Why would I chose the Bible over the Koran over the Torah, over . . . . ? -

Ok Mike, I understand you were trying to be brief and left much out :)-->. Define for me please, what God's Word is (and please don't simply answer by saying God, because that is circular). Additionally, the Bible says God is spirit, how does/where does that fit into your definition? -
Mr. Hammeroni, I doubt that is the case. John Brown is actually doing us a favor, in a sense. He is dividing the message board so we may more freely converse without risk of posting information which might have a negative effect on the kids who go there. I think this is a gracious and wise decision. The youths who post there are innocent, regardless of what you may think of the adults. Most have little say in their participation with the ministry, and even those who may desire to voice discontent risk family relations if they were to leave or question things too heavily. Mike, I do not recall make any suggestion that you cease or even trim your posts at the Family Tables. On the contrary I think it is a great place for your message, as you are more likely to find people who are interested in it and you are more likely to get an informed response. However, in all honesty, it is easier to digest if you break it up into bite sized chunks.

an apology would be a step in the right direction.

CC, Registering does not require you to reveal your real name. However, it would reveal your IP address (I'm not sure posting when you are not registered doesn't likewise reveal your IP addy). It doesn't take too much to track down who the INSP is registered to, once you have an IP address.

JB, Thanks for the heads up. For a couple of minutes there I was afraid someone crossed one line too many and you pulled the board. I have been very pleased to see so many people not only coming to your site, but responding in a respectful manner. I also think it is very gracious of you to take the time to separate the forums instead of asking us to leave.

This is a great topic, Vert. I would suggest to everyone that you do your research before purchasing or downloading software. Some programs will cause the very problems they claim to eliminate. Ad Aware and Spybot, however, do have very good reputations. We installed Zone Alarm for a time. It probably isn't a horrible program, I've read some decent reviews of it. However, when we later decided to go with Norton's instead, we had a hell of a time getting it installed and running properly because of Zone Alarm. It turns out the Zone Alarm program overwrote some important files and registry keys. It also turns out these files and registry keys conflicted with Nortons. Now that we have Nortons up and running properly, we are very pleased with it. I will again repeat, do your research and choose carefully.

someone in TWI started a website with message board and chat room. It's here Apparently HQ knows about it because there are several posters there who claim to be from HQ

On New Years eve, while we were out, our computer was seriously hacked. (our (ex) babysitter downloaded a ton of stuff). We came home to find we had 4 viruses and a bunch of hijackers. Ever since then, we have been trying to clean this machine up and get it running again. It has been a costly and time consuming nightmare. In the process of trying to clean this thing up, we lost a crucial file. Our CD driver wouldn't work and we couldn't get on-line. Bluz spent HOURS on the phone with us, helping us get things running sufficiently so we could copy those things we really didn't want to lose, (like our pictures) and then helped us reformat our harddrive and reinstall everything new. The result is our computer is now working better than it has in YEARS!! So, I wanted to thank Bluz for all his wonderful help!!!! I also wanted to warn people to be careful of what you download off the internet. Viruses and hijackers aren't the only thing that can cause computer problems. Some of the programs we downloaded while trying to clean this machine up caused huge problems. These programs will overwrite files you need. Then if you try to get rid of the program you will also lose the files you need. Zone Alarm is one of them. It over wrote a driver file (I think). It also wouldn't let us install the and properly run the Norton's program we bought. It was in trying to get Zone Alarm off our system that we lost our driver, because it had overwritten the program. Another thing I learned is that SOME of the spyware programs actually cause the very problem you are trying to get rid of. In the future, I will be very very cautious about what I download off the internet and I will do a lot of research before installing anything new on our computer.

So Johniam, does that mean it is equally justifiable for a woman to "clock" a man who runs at the mouth too much? How did your God cover that in the equation when he gave men greater physical strength? Cause trust me, my ex could run at the mouth like no one I've ever met before. I could try to walk away, but he would use that greater physical strength to stop me. I certainly wasn't running off at the mouth when he swung a guitar at my head. And BTW, just who gets to decide when a person is no longer simply speaking his/her mind, but is running off at the mouth? Is it ok for me to clock you if I feel you are running off at the mouth?

I updated both of them last week. Ad Aware will find the coolsearch stuff but if it is getting rid of it, I am continuing to get it over and over again. I think I'm going to hit Best Buy today and see what they have to offer by way of Spyware. I deleted what I could, manually last night. I couldn't find everything and I am still getting the stupid pop-ups. They aren't constant like they were on New Years but they are annoying.
